EGO POWER+ CS1810 18-Inch 56V Chainsaw, Tool Only

Existing EGO 56V battery owners who want an 18-inch cordless saw

The CS1810 is EGO's 18-inch brushless saw sold without battery or charger. It runs 3/8-inch, 0.050-inch gauge chain with 62 links on an 18-inch bar and weighs 7.9 pounds bare. It needs bar oil before first use and weekly sprocket greasing, and the warranty requires an authorised EGO seller.

  • Ships assembled, with a tool-free chain tensioning dial
  • Full operator's manual with approved bar and chain part numbers

Caveats

  • No battery or charger in the box

  • No bar oil included; fill the tank before first use

This is the bare tool: plan for a battery and charger

EGO's configurations table lists CS1810 as the chain saw only, with no battery and no charger, and the Amazon title says the same. The listing says the saw works with all EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries, so this version makes sense mainly if you already own EGO batteries and a charger.

The listing ties its up-to-330-cuts figure to a recommended 6.0Ah battery sold separately. EGO's own page attaches the same 330-cut figure to a 5.0Ah battery in its headline and to a 6.0Ah battery in its details. We did not test either, and cuts on a 4x4 do not predict how many logs of your size one charge will handle.

What arrives in the box

The manual's packing list names the chain saw, a chain sheath and the operator's manual, and says the product ships completely assembled. Bar and chain oil is not listed, and the manual's cover says to fill the oil tank with bar and chain oil before first use.

The manual also says to fully charge the battery pack before first use. If you are buying your first EGO battery for this saw, the 6.0Ah pack is the one both the listing and EGO's details name for the 330-cut figure, but the listing says any EGO 56V ARC Lithium battery is compatible.

Bar, chain and motor specifications

The manual gives an 18-inch (45 centimetre) bar, 3/8-inch pitch, 0.050-inch gauge chain with 62 drive links and a maximum chain speed of 22 metres per second at 56 volts. EGO's page lists a 2,500-watt brushless motor and calls the saw equivalent to a 50cc gas saw, which is EGO's comparison rather than a measurement we checked.

The listing prints the gauge as 0.50 inch in one bullet; EGO's page and manual both say 0.050, so buy chain by the maker's figure. The manual limits you to EGO bars AG1400, AG1600 and AG1800 and chains AC1400, AC1600 and AC1800. Parts listed on EGO's product page are labelled for the CS1800 18-inch saw, so check part numbers against the manual.

Weight, temperatures and water

The manual gives 7.9 pounds without battery, chain, bar, side cover, oil and sheath. Amazon's table lists 10.14 pounds without saying what that includes. Neither is the weight you will hold with a battery fitted and the tank full, and no source we read gives that working weight, so allow for the battery you plan to use.

The operating range in the manual is 5 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, with storage from minus 4 to 158 degrees. EGO lists an IPX4 rating, and the manual adds that the rating assumes the saw and battery are used together. EGO's warranty excludes water contact or immersion, and the manual says never to immerse the saw when cleaning.

Cleaning, greasing and storage

After each use the manual asks you to brush debris from the chain and bar, wipe the saw with a mild-soap cloth, and remove the side cover to clean the bar, chain, sprocket and cover. Keep solvents off the plastic parts, and clean the bar groove whenever you replace the chain.

Grease the bar's nose sprocket weekly with a grease syringe through the lubricating hole. Store the saw indoors in a dry, locked place with the battery removed and the sheath fitted, away from garden chemicals and de-icing salts. Safety, kickback and cutting instructions are in the manual's chapters we did not read; follow the manual.

Warranty terms and who you buy from

EGO's current policy gives outdoor power equipment five years for consumer use and one year for professional use, which matches the listing's five-year tool warranty. Bars and saw chains are routine maintenance parts with 90 days. Any battery or charger you add carries its own three-year consumer term, and the policy says it supersedes warranty text in manuals.

The warranty applies only to the original purchaser from an authorised EGO retailer, and EGO says it may reject claims for products bought from unauthorised sellers, including unauthorised internet sites. Check the seller against EGO's store locator and keep the dated receipt. Rental use voids the warranty, and transport to a service centre is at your expense.
