Two lenses on one solar-charged, pan-tilt body
The SoloCam S340 is a battery camera with two lenses: a wide-angle lens that eufy rates at 3K, 2880 by 1620, and a telephoto lens at 2K, 2304 by 1296. eufy's specs describe 8x hybrid zoom and a range of up to 12 metres, or 40 feet, and the product page says both views appear in one frame.
The head pans and tilts. eufy's comparison table gives 0 to 344 degrees of pan and 10 to 70 degrees of tilt, while the listing describes 360 degree pan and tilt coverage when the camera is installed vertically. The camera follows motion automatically, and eufy lists human and vehicle AI detection.
The quick start guide identifies the camera as model T8170 and labels its parts, including the two lenses, a PIR sensor, an LED light, a microphone, a speaker, a USB-C charging port, a SYNC button and a hole for mounting the solar panel. The listing's box row names the camera, mounting brackets, a quick start guide, the removable solar panel and a charging cable.
Where recordings are stored: the sources disagree
The listing's storage table gives built-in storage of 8GB alongside a memory storage capacity of 128GB. eufy's own comparison table, in the S340 column, lists local storage as up to 256GB on a microSD card.
The quick start guide's labelled parts diagram for the T8170 shows no microSD card slot among the twelve parts it names. We cannot tell from these documents whether this camera stores recordings on built-in memory or on a card, or how much it holds.
eufy's product page also says the S340 is compatible with its HomeBase S380 on firmware V3.3.2.6 and above, and the comparison table lists cross-camera tracking as requiring that HomeBase. Ask eufy which storage applies to part T81703W1 before relying on either figure, and do not buy a card until you have the answer.
Solar and battery, with eufy's own conditions
eufy's comparison table gives a 10,000mAh battery, and its FAQ describes it as built-in, non-removable, rechargeable lithium-ion. The FAQ gives battery life as three months, based on 300 seconds of recording a day, and says actual life depends on how often motion is detected, recording length and temperature.
eufy's page calls for two hours of direct sunlight a day, and the listing's table gives the same two-hour minimum. eufy's FAQ says the panel can sit on the camera or nearby on a cable, which is covered under placement below.
The quick start guide asks for a full charge before first use with a 5V 2A supply, which it says takes about 8 hours. It gives an operating range of minus 20 to 50 degrees Celsius and a charging range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, so charging below 0 degrees Celsius is outside the guide's range.
Placement and the solar panel
The quick start guide recommends mounting the camera 7 to 10 feet, or 2 to 3 metres, above the ground, and shows a detection reach of up to 32 feet, or 10 metres. It advises against facing the camera straight at the monitored area and suggests keeping it at an angle.
The panel can sit on the camera or be mounted apart from it. The guide says to mount it separately, connected with the supplied USB-C extension cable, when the camera's own spot is shaded, and that the camera can go on a wall or a ceiling.
Installation time is given as 7 minutes in the listing and 5 minutes on eufy's product page. Neither the quick start guide nor eufy's product page text that we read gives an IP rating; the page describes the camera only as holding up to a range of extreme weather conditions.
Network, recording modes and voice assistants
eufy's comparison table and the listing both give 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only. The mounting spot needs a usable 2.4GHz signal, since there is no 5GHz option listed.
The comparison table lists 24/7 recording as not supported, alongside a spotlight, a PIR motion sensor and two-way talk. The product page adds a built-in light and siren, an f/1.6 aperture on the lenses, and compatibility with Google Assistant and Alexa.
eufy's page and the listing both say there is no monthly fee for local storage. The product page separately promotes a paid eufy Plus membership with cloud backup; we have not read its terms.
Warranty and model numbers
The quick start guide's customer service page gives a 12-month limited warranty for the US and lists eufy's US support line and email. We did not read eufy's separate warranty policy page, so we cannot add conditions beyond that line.
The listing gives model number T8170, which matches the quick start guide, and manufacturer part number T81703W1, while eufy's product page for the S340 uses T81701W1. The difference is in the part suffix only; confirm with eufy that the listing's part is covered by the same terms.
