A 50-pint Wi-Fi dehumidifier with a front bucket and no pump
The Frigidaire FHDD5034Y1 is a 50-pint-per-day portable dehumidifier with Wi-Fi control through the Frigidaire app and Alexa or Google Home. Frigidaire's page lists built-in caster wheels, a handle, automatic shut-off when the bucket fills, and a continuous-drain option. Its spec sheet states plainly that there is no pump feature.
The spec sheet gives a 2.7-gallon bucket, 470 watts at 8.8 amps and 115 volts, a 72-inch power cord and three fan speeds. Air leaves from the top of the unit and the dust filter is reached from the rear. The listing adds that the front-loading bucket has a carrying handle and splash guard.
The Amazon listing's included-components field names only an air filter and the tank. The optional PureAir advanced filter is sold separately, and the guide says continuous draining needs a garden hose that you supply, so budget for one if you plan to drain to a floor drain.
Energy Star is confirmed by Frigidaire; the pint test is not named
Frigidaire's product page and its spec sheet both mark this model Energy Star certified, and the spec sheet gives an integrated energy factor of 2.01 litres per kilowatt-hour. The spec sheet also lists UL, cUL and CSA listing marks and Canadian energy-efficiency verification for this model.
All three sources give 50 pints per day, but none names the Department of Energy test condition behind the figure. The listing calls the coverage 4,500 with no unit shown, and Frigidaire's page and spec sheet do not publish a room-size figure, so treat coverage as a retailer claim.
The body size also differs. Frigidaire lists 24.7 inches high, 15.9 wide and 12.2 deep, and 41 pounds. Amazon's table lists 24.25 inches wide as well as high, and 44.5 pounds. Use Frigidaire's measurements when checking the space, and the manual's clearances on top of them.
Twelve inches of clearance and a 41 to 89°F range
The guide says the unit needs a minimum of twelve inches of clearance around it, must sit on a level floor that can hold it with a full bucket, and should not be used in a closet. Its placement diagram also carries a label reading at least 24 inches that the text does not assign to a side, so look at the diagram in the guide before pushing it close to a wall.
It is designed to operate between 41°F and 89°F and between 30 and 80 percent relative humidity. Frigidaire's page repeats the 41°F lower limit. Below that, the troubleshooting page says it will not operate satisfactorily; frost on the coils just after start-up is described as normal and usually clears within an hour.
The safety pages add that other electrical or electronic equipment should be kept one yard away, the airflow should not be pointed at a fireplace, and the unit is not intended for water-damage restoration. Keep it upright for an hour before first use and close the room's doors and windows.
Draining needs a hose you supply and a drain below the unit
When the bucket fills, the unit shuts down and the container-full indicator comes on. You unclip the front bucket by pressing its sides, empty it, and push it back until it clicks. A float in the bucket resets when it is refitted.
For continuous draining you unscrew the rear drain cap and screw a garden hose onto the threaded connector. Frigidaire recommends a hose of half an inch or larger with no kinks or elevations, pointing to a nearby drain. With no pump, the hose must run downhill, and the cap should be refitted whenever the hose is removed.
Modes are Auto, Dry, Fan and Quiet, with humidity settable from 35 to 85 percent in five-percent steps, and a Continuous setting reached by pressing below the lowest humidity. The timer runs from half an hour to twenty-four hours, and a control lock is set by holding power and mode for five seconds.
Filter and bucket every two weeks
The guide says to clean the dust filter every two weeks under normal conditions, washing it and drying it before refitting. A filter light also comes on after 250 hours of running; hold the fan button for three seconds to clear it. The PureAir filter indicator is reset with the Timer button.
The bucket should also be washed every two weeks with warm water and detergent. The evaporator has sharp parts and the guide says users should not clean it. Storage is a matter of unplugging and wrapping the cord, per the guide.
Codes E1 or E2 mean a failed sensor; E0 or E3 mean unplug and restart first. The unit uses R-32, which the guide treats as a flammable refrigerant, and has no user-serviceable parts, so repairs go through authorised service rather than an owner.
What the one-year warranty covers and leaves out
Frigidaire lists one year of parts and one year of labour. The guide calls it a limited one-year warranty for functional repairs, paid by Electrolux when the unit was installed, used and maintained as instructed. After the first year you pay diagnosis, labour, parts, removal, transport and reinstallation.
Exclusions include commercial use, units transferred from the original owner or taken outside the USA or Canada, products bought as-is, rust, unauthorized service, and air filters and other consumables. The warranty applies only in the USA and Canada.
Keep your receipt or delivery slip, because it sets the start date. If you buy from a third-party seller or as a used item, check whether the transfer and as-is exclusions would apply to your purchase before relying on this coverage.
