GE's 50-pint dehumidifier with a built-in pump and included hose
The GE ADHE50PWF is the pump version of GE's 50-pint ADHE50 dehumidifier. The Amazon listing and GE's product page name the same model, and GE's page data carries the listing's UPC, 084691973645. GE describes a built-in pump with an included hose, Smart Dry fan control, a filter reminder, three fan speeds, casters, pocket handles, auto restart and auto defrost.
GE lists the size as 24.1 inches high, 14.4 wide and 11.4 deep. The listing adds a weight of 44 pounds, a 15-pint bucket and an included 16-foot drain hose; its components field names an air filter, the dehumidifier, a drain hose and the tank. GE's page and the English manual pages give no weight or bucket volume.
The manual covers the 25, 35 and 50-pint ADHE family, with the pump and Wi-Fi marked as found on some models. GE's page for this model describes the pump but not Wi-Fi, so do not count on app control.
Lift is quoted as 15 feet, 16 feet, and 16 feet away
Three figures appear. The Amazon listing says the pump moves water up to 15 vertical feet. GE's owner's manual gives a maximum lift height of 16 feet. GE's product page says the hose lets water drain to any convenient location up to 16 feet away, which describes distance rather than height.
For planning, measure the vertical rise from the unit to your sink or window and treat the listing's lower 15-foot figure as the safer reference. The manual says to use only the hose supplied with the product in pump mode.
The hose pushes into the connector until it clicks. The manual shows two connector styles: one released by a blue button and one by a grey ring. Follow the manual's page for your connector type when removing the hose.
How to start the pump, and when it must not run
Press and hold the Pump button for three seconds to enter pump mode. The manual says the bucket must be empty before you enter pump mode and must be fully seated for the pump to work, so set pump mode up before the bucket starts filling.
The pump section also says not to operate the machine when the room is 41°F or colder. The general placement rule is a room between 41°F and 90°F, so this model is not for an unheated space that drops to freezing overnight.
If the bucket fills while you expect the pump to run, the manual's checklist is: confirm pump mode is on and the light is lit, confirm the pump hose is installed, and look for a P1 float-sensor code. Unplugging for a few seconds resets P1; repeated P1 codes go to the warranty process.
Eighteen inches of space and its own outlet
GE asks for at least eighteen inches of air space on all sides, on a smooth, level floor strong enough to hold the unit with a full bucket. Air leaves through the top grille, and nothing should block the top or back. Casters are for smooth, flat floors only, not carpet.
Do not use an extension cord, surge protector, multi-outlet adaptor or adapter plug. GE says the unit should always have its own individual grounded outlet. It is for indoor residential use only, and should never run where standing water is likely to collect.
The manual states the unit contains a flammable refrigerant, without naming it in the pages we read, and says not to drill holes in the unit. GE does not support any servicing of the dehumidifier, so faults go to the warranty process.
Humidity settings and what the ratings do not say
Smart Dry is one of four fan options with High, Medium and Low, and adjusts fan speed by comparing set and actual humidity. GE's page and the listing give the humidistat range as 30 to 70 percent; the manual says 35 to 80 percent in five-percent steps, plus Nonstop.
The listing's 5,000 square feet does not appear on GE's page. No source names the Department of Energy test behind the 50-pint figure, and neither GE's page nor the manual pages we read mention Energy Star, so this page makes no claim about efficiency certification.
A garden hose can also be used for gravity draining through the side drain cover, but the manual says it must run down to a floor drain and must not be attached when you want water to collect in the bucket.
Filter care and the one-year warranty
Clean the filter behind the rear grille at least every 250 hours, when the Clean Filter light comes on. Wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse, dry, refit, and hold the Filter button for three seconds to reset. Never run without it and never put it in a dishwasher.
Wash the bucket every few weeks with water and a little mild detergent, not in a dishwasher, and clean the case with water and mild detergent without bleach or abrasives. Run the unit continuously for its first twenty-four hours, as the manual asks.
GE's warranty is one year from the original purchase; GE may repair, replace or refund the original retail price. Claims inside the retailer's return period go back to that retailer with the receipt, and after that to GE's service line. Exclusions include improper installation, lack of maintenance, corrosion, wrong voltage and damage after delivery.
