What this is: a 24 kW standby generator bundled with a 200-amp switch

Generac model 7326, variant G0073260, is its 24 kW air-cooled home standby generator bundled with a 200-amp transfer switch and built-in cellular connectivity. The spec sheet lists G007326-0 as the 24 kW bundle with UPC 696471104745, the same UPC as this listing. It runs on natural gas or propane and starts automatically when utility power fails.

It is a permanent installation. The owner's manual says only qualified service personnel may install, operate and maintain it, the Field Pro app is required for installation, and the unit must be registered and configured before it will run in AUTO. The warranty applies only to permanently wired and mounted units.

24 kW on propane, 22.5 kW on natural gas

Generac's spec sheet and product page rate the 24 kW model at 24 kW maximum on propane and 22.5 kW on natural gas, with 100 or 94 amps at 240V. Amazon's title and table give 24,000 watts without separating the fuels. The owner's manual notes a typical natural-gas derate.

Full-load fuel use is 291 cubic feet per hour of natural gas or 3.71 gallons per hour of propane, and the fuel pipe must be sized for full load at 3.5 to 7 inches of water column for natural gas or 10 to 12 inches for propane. The owner's manual recommends at least a 250-gallon propane tank when converting from natural gas.

The 200-amp service-rated transfer switch

The spec sheet lists G007326-0 with a 200-amp service-rated transfer switch, part A0005902810, in a NEMA 3R enclosure. It includes a fuse control module and integrated surge protection, is rated for 80 percent continuous load, and weighs 33 pounds.

The spec sheet says 200-amp service-entrance switches are certified for US use only. Generac lists load managers and an HVAC manager as optional accessories. Ask your installer whether your air conditioners or other large loads need managing on a 24 kW system.

Engine, weight, noise and a breaker figure to confirm

The spec sheet lists a two-cylinder 997cc G-Force 1000 engine with hydraulic lifters and about 2.2 quarts of oil including the filter. Weight is 461 pounds, matching Amazon and the product page, and dimensions are 46.4 by 26.3 by 30.7 inches. Noise is 67 dB(A) at 23 feet under normal load and 55 dB(A) in Quiet-Test low-speed exercise, from the front.

The product page lists a 100-amp main line breaker for this model. The spec sheet and owner's manual tables list 100, 110 and 125-amp breakers across the 22 to 28 kW models, and the text we extracted does not tie one figure clearly to the 24 kW. Have the installer confirm the breaker from the unit's data decal before sizing wiring.

Battery, placement and maintenance

The spec sheet and owner's manual say the battery is not included and must be a 12V AGM Powersport Group BTX30L with at least 400 CCA; the product page names a BTX20L 310CCA instead, so follow the manual. The manual says external chargers should not be used. The spec sheet allows installation as close as 18 inches to a structure, away from doors, windows and air intakes.

The owner's manual keeps mechanical air intakes at least 10 feet away and shrubs 3 feet from the louvers. Service starts with an oil and filter change after 25 hours, then oil, filter and battery check every two years or 200 hours, adding air filter and spark plugs every four years or 400 hours. Below 40°F or in continuous operation above 85°F, oil and filter move to every year or 100 hours.

Warranty: five years, narrowing after year two

Amazon and the product page describe a 5-year limited warranty, and the spec sheet says it covers the generator and transfer switch. Generac's written statement covers five years or 2,000 hours from successful start-up or online activation: parts, labor and limited travel in years one and two, parts only in year three, and major components only in years four and five.

Major components means the engine short block and alternator rotor and stator. The unit must be registered with proof of purchase, and warranty work must be done by an Independent Authorized Service Dealer. Proof of required maintenance must be available, travel is capped at 100 miles and three hours, and maintenance, installation and start-up costs are excluded.
