This listing is Generac's iQ5200DF dual-fuel inverter generator, base model 8945, variant G0089450. The listing title calls it 49 State Compliant, and Generac's spec sheet lists G0089450 as the 49-state configuration and a separate G0089470 as the 50-state version. If you live in California or need a 50-state unit, confirm which variant a seller is shipping.

The spec sheet lists these items in the box: engine oil, an oil funnel, a 12V lead-acid battery, a tool kit, the owner's manual and a propane hose. Generac's product page describes the hose as a four-foot LP tank connection, and the manual says the battery cables arrive disconnected.

Watts by fuel, and what the economy switch changes

Generac's spec sheet rates it at 3,900 running and 5,200 starting watts on gasoline, and 3,500 running and 4,700 starting watts on propane. Rated 120-volt amperage is 32.5 on gas and 29.2 on propane. It is a 120-volt-only machine with a 223cc OHV engine, and the spec sheet lists total harmonic distortion under three percent.

The manual says to keep the economy switch on for resistive loads and to turn it off for motor-starting loads that cycle on and off, naming an RV air conditioner and power tools. Read that page before the first outage so the switch is in the right position for what you plug in.

Outlets, parallel kit and the neutral bond

The spec sheet lists one 120V 30A NEMA L5-30R twist-lock receptacle, two 120V 20A GFCI NEMA 5-20R receptacles, a USB-A outlet and a 3A USB-C outlet. Neither the spec sheet nor the product page lists a TT-30R RV outlet or any 240-volt receptacle, so check your RV's inlet before relying on it. The spec sheet also states that the neutral is bonded to ground.

Two iQ5200DF units can run together with Parallel Kit 7668, which the spec sheet and product page both say is sold separately. The manual says to set the economy switch the same on both units, make all kit connections with both units off and loads disconnected, and use only a Generac-approved kit. We did not read the parallel kit's own manual.

Source conflicts to check before you buy

The Amazon technical table lists a 0.6-gallon tank, while Generac's spec sheet and product page both list 3.2 gallons, and the spec sheet gives 0.6 quarts as the oil capacity. Separately, the specification table on Generac's own product page lists fuel type as liquid propane or natural gas and oil type as gaseous, which contradicts the same page's gasoline-or-propane description and the manual.

The spec sheet rates the USB-A outlet at 3.1 amps, but the owner's manual describes a 0.9-amp USB-A outlet. On oil changes, the listing says every 100 hours or annually, while the manual says every 100 hours or six months after a first change at one month or twenty hours. Neither document states which USB figure is current; confirm with Generac.

Setup, run time and the maintenance schedule

The manual says the generator ships without oil in the engine and with the battery cables disconnected, so plan to add the supplied oil and connect the battery before first start. It lists SAE 30, 10W-30 or synthetic 5W-30 by temperature, and asks for petroleum oil during break-in. Gasoline must be unleaded, 87 octane minimum, with no more than ten percent ethanol and never E85.

Generac rates run time at 9 hours on gasoline or 11 hours on a 20-pound propane tank at 50 percent load, and 15 or 20 hours at 25 percent load. The manual's schedule asks for an oil check at each use, oil, air filter and spark arrestor service every 100 hours or six months, and a spark plug and fuel filter every 300 hours or yearly.

Outdoor-only placement, CO shutoff and warranty conditions

The manual says never to run it indoors or in a partly enclosed area such as a garage, and to use it only outdoors, far from windows, doors, vents and crawl spaces. It asks for at least five feet of clearance on all sides including overhead. COsense shuts the engine off if carbon monoxide builds up, and the manual says it is not a substitute for an indoor CO alarm.

The spec sheet lists a 3-year limited residential and 2-year limited commercial warranty. Generac's linked warranty document instead shows parts and labor for years one to three with commercial use limited to 1,000 hours. It requires registration or proof of purchase, repairs by an authorized dealer, proof of required maintenance, and excludes starting batteries and engine fluids. Confirm the terms that apply to you.
