What the 58148A is: a glass-jar blender with five buttons
Amazon lists this blender as model 58148AG with part number 58148A, and Hamilton Beach's own page is for model 58148A. The use and care guide attached to the listing covers models 58144, 58146, 58147, 58148 and 58149, and says model numbers may carry a letter suffix.
Hamilton Beach describes a 40-ounce glass jar, stainless steel Ice Sabre blades, its Wave~Action system and 700 watts of peak power, with twelve functions controlled by five buttons. The guide explains that peak power is the motor wattage during the first seconds of operation, not a continuous figure.
The guide's parts list shows a jar with a spout and hinged cap, a lid with a vent opening, a collar, a cutting blade assembly and the base. It notes the gasket is permanently affixed to the cutting blades. A food chopper attachment is described only as an optional accessory on select models.
A 40-ounce jar, but a 3-cup limit for hot liquids
The jar holds 40 ounces, yet the guide says not to fill it beyond the 3-cup (710 ml) level when blending hot liquids. The Amazon description repeats that 3-cup limit. If you plan to purée soup, count on working in batches of three cups or less.
For hot liquids the guide gives a specific set of steps for the vent opening, cap, lid and speed. This page does not reproduce them; read that caution in the guide itself before you blend anything hot.
The guide also says to check that the collar at the base of the jar is tight and secure, and not to defeat the cover interlock. It asks you to inspect the jar and blades for wear and call Hamilton Beach for replacement parts.
At least one cup of liquid, and a list of jobs it should not do
Hamilton Beach's page describes the blender as able to crush ice. The guide's tips set a minimum of one cup (8 ounces, 237 ml) of liquid, so plan recipes around that amount rather than blending ice or frozen fruit on their own.
The guide says not to use it to mash potatoes, mix stiff dough, whip egg whites, grind raw meat or extract juices from fruits and vegetables. If any of those jobs are on your list, neither the guide nor the product page documents this model for them.
The Pulse button runs only while you hold it down. The guide includes a food chart with quantities and times for specific foods; use the chart in the guide rather than guessing at amounts or run times.
Cleaning: dishwasher-safe parts, but not on the SANI setting
Hamilton Beach says the glass jar, lid and removable blades are dishwasher safe. The guide adds a firm limit: do not use the SANI setting. The guide also says parts should not be soaked, so wash and dry them rather than leaving them in water.
The base is wiped clean rather than washed. The guide describes an Easy Clean button that runs a short rinse with warm water and a drop of detergent, and says it only rinses between batches of the same food and is not a substitute for full cleaning.
The guide says Easy Clean should never be used after blending eggs, dairy, meat or seafood. It also asks you not to store food or liquids in the jar, and not to put a filled jar in the freezer.
Counter footprint and cord storage
Hamilton Beach lists the dimensions as 14.7 inches high, 8.7 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep. Amazon's table gives 14.69 inches high by 8.5 inches wide by 8.66 inches deep, and a weight of 5.62 pounds. The height agrees; the depth does not, so allow for the larger figure.
Hamilton Beach says the cord stores inside the base when the blender is not in use, which keeps the counter clear, but it also means the outlet needs to be within reach of wherever the base sits.
The guide also says the blender must not be powered through an external switching device such as a timer, because of its thermal cut-out. The model list on the guide's last page gives the electrical rating as 120V, 60 Hz and 3.7 A maximum.
Warranty: three years in the guide, one year on a second sheet, and glass is excluded
The use and care guide gives a limited warranty of three years from original purchase in the U.S. and five years in Canada. Hamilton Beach's product page and Amazon's details table both say three years. A separate one-page warranty sheet attached to the listing names no model and gives one year. Confirm the term with Hamilton Beach before relying on it.
Both warranty texts say the warranty does not cover glass, filters, normal wear or misuse. For a blender whose jar is glass, that matters: a jar that breaks is not a warranty item under either text.
Claims go to Hamilton Beach by phone, not the store, and need the original receipt. You pay the cost of returning the product and of its return to you. The warranty is void outside single-family household use, and Hamilton Beach sells a replacement jar, blade assembly, lid and collar.
