A manual-only cylinder with no auto mode
The Core 300-P is the plain, non-smart member of Levoit's Core 300 family. It is a cylinder 8.7 inches across and 14.2 inches tall weighing 7.9 pounds, drawing air through a 360-degree perforated base and pushing it out of the top. The maker's box list is short: the purifier, one three-stage original filter already installed, a user manual and a quick start guide. It runs on AC 120 V 60 Hz at 56 W rated power, and the listing notes it is built for US voltage only.
One difference matters more than the spec sheet suggests. The listing's own notes say that only the Core 300S-P has smart connectivity and Auto Mode, and that the Core 300-P and Core P350-P require manual fan speed control. So there is no sensor deciding the fan speed for you on this model, and no app. What you get is a touch panel with fan speeds, Sleep Mode, a 2/4/6/8-hour timer, a display-off option and a check-filter light. If you wanted a purifier that reacts to cooking smoke on its own, this is not it.
1,073 square feet is the one-pass-an-hour number
The listing title says up to 1,073 ft². Levoit's own product page for the same model gives two figures and labels both: ideal room size 1,066 ft² at one air change per hour, or 222 ft² at 4.8 air changes per hour. The listing's bullet text agrees with the underlying arithmetic, describing a 222 ft² room refreshed 4.8 times an hour and a 1,073 ft² room refreshed once. Levoit's own comparison chart, linked from the product page, lists the Core 300's ideal room size as 219 ft². Nobody explains the seven-square-foot gap between 1,066 and 1,073, or the three between 219 and 222.
For a buying decision, use 222 ft². That is the size at which the maker says the air is turned over roughly every twelve and a half minutes, which is what people actually mean when they say a purifier handles a room. A typical 12-by-14-foot bedroom is about 168 ft², comfortably inside that. A 1,000 ft² open-plan floor is inside the headline figure but would get one pass an hour, and no purifier is doing much for allergies at that rate.
CADR, the AHAM seal, and the sleep-mode condition on 'HEPA'
The listing bullets give CADR as 143 CFM for smoke, 153 for dust and 167 for pollen, and attribute the set to AHAM, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, describing the unit as AHAM Verifide. The maker's own specification panel publishes only one figure, CADR: 143 CFM, without naming a standard or body. We did not check the AHAM directory in this session, so treat the seal as a claim to verify rather than a fact established here. For context on what 143 CFM buys you, the same maker's Vital 200S-P is rated 250 CFM smoke and its Core 600S at a higher tier again.
The filtration wording carries a condition that is easy to miss. Both the listing and the maker's filter page say the Levoit Original Filter is HEPA-grade while operating in Sleep Mode, tested against IEST RP C001.7 by an independent lab. That is not the same as saying the machine meets HEPA at every fan speed. Separately, the maker's filter page states the main filter removes 99.97% of ultrafine particles down to 0.3 microns, while the Amazon details table says 99.97% for 0.1 to 0.3 micron particles but then gives particle retention size as 0.3 micron in the same table. Use 0.3 microns.
Filters: one part number, four versions, and a compatibility footnote
The standard replacement is the Core 300-P-RF original filter, a single cartridge combining the pre-filter, main filter and activated carbon layer. Levoit's own filter page recommends replacing it every six to eight months, which is shorter than the yearly cycle many purifiers in this class use, and the listing description repeats the same six-to-eight-month figure. There is no separate washable pre-filter to rinse on this model; the pre-filter is part of the cartridge you replace.
Levoit sells three alternatives to the original: a three-stage Pet Allergy filter, a three-stage Toxin Absorber filter and a four-stage Smoke Remover filter, so the choice of cartridge is how you tune the machine to a problem. Two cautions from the maker itself. First, its filter page says the Filter Life Indicator and its algorithm only work with authentic filters, and warns that non-genuine filters can delay replacement and damage the motor; the listing adds that CADR and coverage figures are calculated on Levoit original filters and do not apply to other replacement filters. Second, the maker's own compatibility lines disagree with each other on the same page: the summary says the filter is designed for the Core 300-P and Core 300S-P, while the compatibility line says it fits only the Core 300-P, Core P350-P and Core 300-P-RAC. Check your exact model name against the filter listing before ordering.
Ozone, certifications and the numbers the maker does not publish
This is a purely mechanical and carbon purifier. The maker's feature list for the Core 300-P includes 'Ozone Free', and its filter page states zero ozone emissions in Sleep Mode. There is no ioniser, plasma stage or UV lamp in any maker description read here. The maker states the unit is CARB compliant, FCC certified and ETL listed, and the listing repeats those three plus AHAM. The maker's page also carries a California Proposition 65 warning.
On noise, the maker publishes a range of 24 to 54.5 dB and says its QuietKEAP technology brings Sleep Mode as low as 24 dB; its filter page separately says 26 dB or lower in Sleep Mode. The Amazon table flattens all of this to a single '24 db'. None of the sources states a measuring distance or test condition, so these are maker claims, not comparable measurements. Operating conditions are 14-104°F and under 85% relative humidity. One gap you should know about: the manual PDFs attached to this listing and the manual linked from Levoit's own product page are scanned images rather than text, so the printed clearance distance, cleaning routine and warranty wording could not be read here. Read the printed manual in the box before you decide where to put it, and do not assume it can sit tight against furniture — it draws air in around its whole base.
Warranty, variants and what to check on the offer
Levoit's product page and the Amazon details field both state a two-year limited warranty. The maker also advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on its own store, which is a store policy rather than a warranty term and does not travel with a third-party purchase. Because the printed warranty document could not be read in this session, check Levoit's own warranty policy page for the conditions before you rely on it — this maker's warranties for other models in the same range limit cover to the original purchaser, exclude filters as consumables and exclude units bought from unauthorised sellers.
Two practical checks before ordering. First, confirm which model you are actually buying: Core 300-P, Core 300S-P, Core P350-P and Core 300-P-RAC are all closely named, only the S version has Auto Mode and app control, and the filter that fits one may not be listed for another. The maker's own specification panel for this product confusingly gives the model as 'Core 300' while the page title and listing both say Core 300-P. Second, check the seller and the condition of the offer you select, since warranty eligibility depends on buying a new unit from an authorised seller.
