A Levoit dehumidifier with a removable pump in the tank
The Levoit Smart Dehumidifier LDH-H251S-WUS has four ways to drain: the tank, an included drainage hose, a garden hose you supply, or a small pump that clips into the tank. The exact-model manual lists 403 watts at 3.6 amps, a 1.1-gallon (4-litre) tank, and a body of 22.3 by 12.8 by 10.2 inches weighing 33.1 pounds.
The box holds the dehumidifier, a washable pre-filter and water pump already fitted, a MERV filter, a drainage hose, a drain connector, a pump hose, a pump cover, a cord holder, the manual and a quick-start guide. Levoit's page and the Amazon listing give the same contents list.
Control is through the panel or the VeSync app, and the listing says voice control is supported. Pairing is started by holding the power button for five seconds, and the manual says the unit uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. An optional water sensor plugs into the unit but is sold separately.
36 pints or 84 pints: read the test conditions
The Amazon listing gives two figures with their conditions: up to 36 pints a day at 80°F and 60 percent humidity, and 84 pints a day maximum at 104°F and 95 percent humidity. Levoit's product page says up to 84 pints a day and 4,500 square feet without stating conditions, and the manual prints no capacity figure.
The 36-pint figure is the one tied to ordinary room conditions in the listing's own wording. The 84-pint figure needs very hot, very humid air, well above the manual's stated operating limit of 90°F. Neither the listing nor Levoit's page names which Department of Energy test the figures follow.
Levoit's product page states that the model is Energy Star Most Efficient 2025 certified, and the listing says the same. The manual pages we read do not mention certification, and we did not check the Energy Star database separately for this model.
The pump waits for a full tank, and no lift height is published
To use the pump, remove the tank's pump cover, clip the pump into the tank cover, push the pump hose in up to its blue label, refit the tank and turn on Pump Mode. The listing notes that the pump starts draining automatically only when the water reaches the full level, so the tank still fills before each pumping cycle.
The manual describes the pump as suited to a drain that is far away or high up, but neither the manual, the listing nor Levoit's page states a maximum lift height or hose length. If your sink is well above the unit, ask Levoit support before relying on the pump.
The pump is removable and washable. The manual says to twist off its end cap and rinse the pump and cap under a tap occasionally, without detergent, keeping the metal prongs on top dry. An E5 code means the pump has failed and the manual sends you to customer support.
Placement: 8 inches from walls, 16 inches above the outlet
Levoit asks for a flat spot at least eight inches from any wall, with at least sixteen inches of open space above the air outlet. The floor must hold the unit with a full tank, and it should be kept away from dryers, heaters and radiators with the room's doors and windows closed.
The operating range is 41°F to 90°F and humidity up to 90 percent. The app troubleshooting page adds that humidity readings are unreliable if the unit sits within twelve inches of a wall or in a corner, so a little more space than the minimum helps the display.
Let it stand for twenty-four hours after delivery before first use, then allow ten minutes for an accurate humidity reading. It is for indoor use, not in small spaces, sinks or showers, and should be moved only when unplugged and emptied.
Weekly tank cleaning, fortnightly pre-filter, MERV every few months
The manual sets out a regular care schedule for this model. Clean the water tank weekly. Clean the pre-filter every two weeks by vacuuming it or washing it with mild detergent and warm water, and let it dry fully before refitting.
The MERV filter is optional but recommended. Replace it when the filter indicator lights, about every three months depending on use; hold the timer button for three seconds to reset the reminder. Remove the plastic wrap from the filter before running the unit.
If the dehumidifier will sit unused for a week or more, do not leave water inside. The manual's storage page gives the steps to follow, and the cord holder in the box keeps the cord tidy. The refrigerant is R32, 100 grams, per the specification table.
Two-year warranty, not three, in Levoit's own documents
The Amazon listing's warranty field says three-year compressor warranty. Levoit's product page and the exact-model manual both say two-year limited warranty, running from the original purchase date, or from delivery or pick-up for California residents. Neither Levoit document we read mentions a separate compressor term, so ask the seller to show where the longer figure comes from.
Under the manual's terms, Vesync may repair the unit, replace it, give store credit or, for purchases from the Levoit online store, refund it. Coverage is for the original buyer only, is not transferable, and does not extend to products bought from unauthorised sellers.
Exclusions include filters as wear parts, misuse, commercial or rental use, unauthorised repair and water damage, among others listed in the manual. Keep your proof of purchase, and check the manual's warranty pages for the full list before making a claim.
