A pump-equipped 50-pint Cube with four ways to drain
The Midea Cube MAD50PS1QWT is a 50-pint dehumidifier that sits on its own bucket and nests inside it for storage, with a built-in pump. Midea's support page names this exact model, and the manual it links describes four setups: bucket mode, bucketless mode, continuous draining through a hose, and drain pump mode, which is for the pump model only.
The Amazon listing gives the model as MAD50PS1QWT with UPC 810040942556, a 4.2-gallon tank, 425 watts at 115 volts, and a body of 14.45 by 14.76 by 14.57 inches weighing 43 pounds. Its included-components field says only Dehumidifier, while a bullet says a 16-foot drain tube is included, so check the box contents when it arrives.
Wi-Fi control is claimed on the listing, and the manual lists WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE router security as supported for its wireless module. The manual pages we read do not describe the app's features in detail, so check Midea's app before relying on remote control.
The pump waits for a full bucket and lifts up to 14 feet
Midea's manual says the pump can push water up to 14 feet above the drain port. The listing's 16 feet is the length of the tube, not the lift, so measure the height to your sink or window rather than the hose run. Both a pump inlet hose, which locks into the side of the unit, and a pump drain hose must be fitted.
The pump does not start until water reaches fill level four, the top setting, and some water is always left in the bucket so the pump inlet stays submerged. That means the bucket still holds a lot of water during pump use, and the manual asks you to empty it at least once a week anyway.
The pump-mode button is described two ways. Both manuals tell you to hold the up and down buttons together for three seconds, but the operating page of Midea's own manual also says to hold the fill-level button for three seconds. Try one, check for the pump indicator on the display, and use the other if it does not appear.
Bucket levels run from 2.25 to 4.25 gallons
Both manuals print all four fill levels for the 50-pint pump model: about 2.25 gallons (24 pounds), 3 gallons (30 pounds), 3.75 gallons (36.5 pounds) and 4.25 gallons (40.5 pounds). If you empty by hand, choose the lowest level you are comfortable carrying up stairs.
To empty, lift the machine off, carry the bucket with both hands and pour from a front corner, because pouring from the back can spill water through the relief holes. The unit shows Eb and stops if it is lifted off mid-run, and P2 when the bucket reaches the chosen level.
With the continuous-drain hose fitted to the bucket, the manual says the bucket fill-level lights do not operate. The optional casters slide into the bucket corners, and the manual says not to roll the unit and bucket together while there is water in the bucket.
Where it can go and how much room it needs
The manual asks for a smooth, level floor strong enough to hold a full bucket, at least eight inches of space on every side, and sixteen inches at the air outlet. Keep it away from dryers, heaters and radiators, and close the room's doors and windows while it runs.
It is for indoor residential use only. The manual says not to run it in an excessively humid room such as a bathroom or laundry room, not in small spaces, and not in a sink or shower. Plug it straight into a grounded outlet, with no extension cord or adaptor, and do not share the outlet with other appliances.
The working range is 41°F to 95°F, while Amazon lists a 96°F upper rating. Below 41°F the coils may frost and auto defrost cycles the compressor off. For gravity draining, the unit's drain port must sit above the end of the hose; bucketless mode must be armed within three minutes of plugging in.
What the capacity and Energy Star claims rest on
The listing and Midea's page both say 50 pints per day and 4,500 square feet. Neither names the Department of Energy test condition behind the pint figure, and the manual pages we read give no capacity rating, so this page cannot tell you how the number compares with ratings on older units.
The listing's highlight says ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2022. Midea's support page and the manual pages we read do not mention Energy Star, so treat it as a retailer claim and confirm on the unit's label or in the Energy Star product finder if it matters to you.
The manual lists an EC code for refrigerant leakage detection, along with AS and ES sensor codes and a general E3 fault, all of which send you to customer service if they persist. The refrigerant is R32, which the manual describes as flammable, and servicing is limited to Midea-authorised technicians.
Filters, pump filter, storage and what the warranty leaves to you
Clean the left and right air filters in clean water once every two weeks, per the safety pages, and reset the reminder by holding the fan button for three seconds. The pump has its own mesh filter: take the unit off the bucket, set it down away from electrical items, and rinse or brush the screen.
Clean the case with water and mild detergent, no bleach or abrasives, and wash the bucket every few weeks, never in a dishwasher. Before storage, let it dry for a full day, clean it, stow the cord, and nest it only when it is unplugged and the bucket is empty.
Midea's manual gives a one-year full warranty from the original purchase date, with parts and repair of defects paid by Midea through authorised servicers. You pay diagnostic, removal, transport and reinstallation costs, coverage is for ordinary household use, and commercial or rental use is excluded. Keep your bill of sale.
