A 50-pint Cube that sits on a large bucket and nests into it
The Midea Cube MAD50S1QWT-A is the no-pump 50-pint version of Midea's two-piece Cube. The machine sits on top of its own bucket while running, and for storage you lift it off, press the tabs inside the bucket, rotate it ninety degrees and drop it in. The Amazon listing and Midea's product page both name this exact model and describe it as covering spaces up to 4,500 square feet.
The listing's included-components field names an air filter, a drain hose, a garden hose adapter stored in the tank, the tank and a user manual. It gives the body as 14.45 inches deep, 14.76 wide and 14.96 high and 41.5 pounds, with 490 watts at 115 volts. Midea's page lists 41.54 pounds, and its dimension labels are muddled, so use the listing figures as a guide and measure before you buy.
Wi-Fi control through Midea's SmartHome app, with Alexa and Google Assistant, is claimed on both the listing and the maker page. The manual says the wireless module works on 2.4 GHz and supports only WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK router encryption, which is worth checking against your home network settings first.
What the 50-pint and Energy Star labels do and do not tell you
Both the listing and Midea's page say 50 pints per day. Neither source names the Department of Energy test condition behind that figure, and the manual pages we read print no capacity rating at all. If you are comparing this unit with an older model rated under a different test, neither Midea document here gives you the conversion.
The Amazon title includes the words Energy Star. Midea's own specification block for MAD50S1QWT-A does not list Energy Star, and the manual pages we read do not mention it, so treat certification as a retailer claim until you see it on the unit's label or in the Energy Star product finder.
Midea's page also contradicts itself. The heading and specifications say 4,500 square feet, but one feature panel says the unit covers spaces up to 1,500 square feet, and the specification table's model-number field reads MAD50PS1QWT-A, a code Midea's own site uses for the Cube with a built-in pump, while listing Built-in Pump as No. Rely on the manual for the model's behaviour.
Leave eight inches around it and sixteen at the outlet
The manual asks for a smooth, level floor strong enough to carry the unit with a full bucket, at least eight inches of air space on all sides, and at least sixteen inches at the air outlet. Keep it away from a clothes dryer, heater or radiator, and close the doors, windows and other openings to the outdoors while it runs.
It is for indoor residential use only, not commercial or industrial use and not outdoors. The manual says not to use it in small spaces or place it in a sink or shower, to plug it straight into a grounded outlet without an extension cord or adaptor, and not to share that outlet with other appliances.
The working environment is given as 41°F to 95°F. The Amazon details table instead lists an upper temperature rating of 90°F. Below 41°F the manual warns that the coils can frost and performance may drop; auto defrost handles frost, and the manual asks you to run the unit continuously for its first 24 hours.
The bucket holds about 4.2 gallons, which is over forty pounds
The listing advertises a 4.2-gallon, 15.9-litre bucket. The manual's fill-level table gives only one figure for this model: level four, about 4.23 gallons, which it says weighs roughly 40.5 pounds with water. Levels one to three are printed as blank for the 50-pint Cube, so the manual does not tell you how much water a lower setting collects.
To empty it you lift the machine off, carry the bucket with two hands, and pour from a front corner, because pouring from the back can spill water through the relief holes. Do not set the machine on anything electrical while it is off the bucket, since the underside may be wet. Lifting it off mid-run stops the unit with an Eb code.
The optional casters slide into the corners of the bucket. The manual says not to roll the unit and bucket together while there is water in the bucket; take the machine off first. Plan where you will carry a forty-pound bucket before placing the unit in a basement.
No pump here: draining only works downhill
This is the model without a pump. For continuous draining you fit the included hose or a garden hose to the rear outlet, and the manual says the unit must sit above the sink or drain you use. A basement floor drain level with the unit, or a sink above it, will not work.
Bucketless mode lets the machine run with no bucket at all. The drain must be below the dehumidifier, Midea recommends the hose end sit four inches below the connection, the hose must not rise above the outlet, and you must arm the mode within three minutes of plugging in by holding the up and fill-level buttons for three seconds.
Do not route a hose outdoors when it is 32°F or colder, because the water freezes and stops the unit. After a power cut the unit restarts with its previous settings, except in bucketless mode, and the compressor waits three minutes before restarting. Neither the listing nor the maker page offers a way to push water uphill on this model, so check your drain height first.
Filters, storage and the one-year warranty
There are filters on the left and right sides. The safety pages say to clean them once every two weeks, and the control panel shows a reminder after 250 hours of running, reset by holding the fan button for three seconds. Wash them in clean water, dry them, and never run the unit without them.
Clean the case with water and mild detergent, no bleach or abrasives, and wash the bucket every few weeks, never in a dishwasher. Before storage, let the unit rest a full day to dry, clean it, stow the cord in its channel, and nest it only when the bucket is empty and the unit is unplugged. The manual names R32, a flammable refrigerant, and limits servicing to Midea-authorised technicians.
The warranty printed in the manual is one year, limited, running from the delivery date or the purchase date, whichever is later. Midea's page also lists a one-year warranty. The manual pages we read give no further detail on exclusions, so ask Midea or the seller about coverage terms before relying on them.
