Which scooter this listing actually sells

The listing title bundles four NIU models, the 100P, 100F, 300P and 300X, under one page. With this exact item selected, the details table names the Model Name as 100F and the Part Number as 100F-GY in gray, so everything below is about the KQi 100F and nothing is carried over from the other three.

NIU's own US product page for the KQi 100F gives the core numbers: 300 watts rated and 600 watts maximum, a top speed of 17.4 miles per hour, a range of up to 18 miles, a 48-volt 243 watt-hour battery and a charge time of five to six hours. The listing bullets repeat the same motor, speed and range figures.

What separates the 100F from its sibling is the folding handlebar. NIU's global page says the foldable handlebar is on the 100F only, and it gives a folded size of 1154 by 184 by 505 millimetres. NIU's US page describes the fold as quick-release, self-locking and tool-free.

Size, weight and the 265-pound limit

NIU's US page lists the scooter at 38.8 pounds with the battery, and the global page gives 17.6 kilograms for the 100F, which is the same figure in metric. The listing bullet also says 38.8 pounds, while the listing's details table rounds it to 38 pounds.

NIU's geometry tab gives a handlebar width of 23.1 inches that folds down to 7.2 inches, a handlebar height of 48.4 inches, a folded height of 19.9 inches, a body length of 45.4 inches, a deck of 17.2 by 5.1 inches and a clearance under the deck of 3.1 inches. Measure a car boot or closet against the folded figures before buying.

The maximum rider weight is 265 pounds on NIU's US page and in the listing, and NIU says the frame was redesigned in automotive-grade steel with a rated payload of 120 kilograms. The user manual's rider figure adds limits the product pages leave out: an age range of 14 to 60 years and a rider height of 120 to 200 centimetres.

Two water ratings and two suspension descriptions

NIU's own pages do not agree on water protection. The US product page lists a waterproof rating of IPX5, while the global KQi 100 page describes the scooter as IP55 water and dust resistant. Neither page explains the difference, so ask NIU which rating applies to the unit sold in your region.

The suspension is described two ways as well. NIU's US page calls it spring suspension with a 36-millimetre stroke, and its marketing copy says 36mm dual-stroke suspension. The global page instead describes dual-tube hydraulic front suspension. Neither page gives any adjustment settings, so treat the type as unconfirmed until NIU clarifies.

Speed and range are stated in the units of each market. The US page says 17.4 miles per hour and 18 miles, while the global comparison table says 25 kilometres per hour and 29 kilometres, and the global page's headline says up to 28 kilometres per hour. NIU does not explain the difference between its own two pages.

Brakes, tyres, lights and the app

Braking is a front drum brake plus rear regenerative braking, on NIU's pages and in the listing alike. The tyres are 9.5 by 2.3 inch pneumatic tube tyres on both NIU pages, and NIU's warranty page lists flat tyres among the damage it treats as out of warranty.

NIU's US page lists front and rear LED lights, side reflectors and turn signals, and the global page adds a mechanical bell. The user manual carries a note that pictures may differ from the product and that, because of version differences, a scooter may not have turn signals, so check the unit you receive.

The app, per NIU's US page, covers smart unlock, cruise control, riding modes, Bluetooth connection, a battery charge limit, start and maximum speed and acceleration settings, and over-the-air updates. There are four riding modes: E-Save, Sport, Custom and Pedestrian. The global page also lists adjustable braking strength and ride statistics.

What comes in the box

The listing's details table says the included components are manuals. The packing list in NIU's KQi 100 user manual shows a battery charger for both models, and it marks the hexagon wrench and the set of seven M5 screws plus a spare as KQi 100P only.

So a 100F owner should not expect the hex wrench or the spare screws described in the manual for the other model. NIU's US page shows a phone holder mounted at the centre of the handlebar, but NIU sells that holder separately and as a bundle, so do not assume it is included with this listing.

The manual's rider figure also shows the protective gear NIU pictures for riding. This page does not repeat NIU's safety, folding or first-use instructions; read the printed manual in the box, or NIU's PDF, before the first ride.

Warranty: two years for the body, far less for parts

The listing bullet says NIU's two-year warranty covers accessories and consumable parts. NIU's own warranty page is narrower: two years for the main body, meaning the battery, charger, frame, motor, controller, dashboard, front fork and main harness, but six months for accessories and three months for consumables.

NIU names the six-month accessories as brake levers, brake disc, brake line and throttle control, and the three-month consumables as the anti-collision strip, headlight, bell, fender, taillight, decorative cover, kickstand and foot pad. For online orders the warranty clock starts on the delivery date.

The exclusions list is long and worth reading before buying: water damage to electrical parts, frame cracking caused by excessive load, riding over obstacles, collision, modification, abrasion of brake and plastic parts, and flat tyres are all out of warranty. Given the IPX5 versus IP55 question, the water exclusion is the one to keep in mind.
