What the certificate says this scooter is

The strongest document on this listing is an SGS certificate of compliance, number SGSNA/23/SZ/00280, issued to Ninebot (Changzhou) Tech Co., Ltd. It names the certified product as a Personal E-mobility Device, Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro, and lists models 051405U, 051405E, 051405D and 051405A. The listing's part number is 051405U, so the identity matches.

That certificate is issued against ANSI/CAN/UL 2272, 1st Edition, revised 25 February 2019, and the product manual repeats that the product is certified to ANSI/CAN/UL2272 by SGS. The manual adds that the battery complies with UN/DOT 38.3 and with ANSI/CAN/UL2271.

The certificate's own technical data block gives 36 volts direct current and 7.65 amp-hours, a charging temperature range of 0 to 45 degrees Celsius and a discharging range of minus 10 to 40 degrees. Those figures come from the certificate itself rather than from listing copy.

Three different top speeds appear on the same listing

The bullets say you reach up to 15.5 miles per hour, and the SGS certificate's technical data gives a maximum speed of 25 kilometres per hour or 20 kilometres per hour, the first of which works out at roughly the same figure. So far so consistent.

The maker-enhanced specification table on the same listing then lists four riding modes: Eco at 9.3 miles per hour, Standard at 12.4, Sport at 18.6 and a walk mode. An 18.6 mile per hour Sport mode is faster than both the bullet and the certificate allow for, and nothing on the listing explains the gap.

Check your local rules for any speed limit that applies to e-scooters, ask Segway which figure applies to the unit shipping today, and do not assume the fastest number is the one you will get.

The weight limit is stated three ways, and so is charge time

The listing's details table says a weight limit of 265 pounds. The comparison widget on the same page says 198 pounds for the E2 Pro column. The SGS certificate says maximum payload 120 kilograms or 100 kilograms, which is roughly 265 or 220 pounds. Three documents, three answers, and the lowest of them is well under the highest.

Charge time splits the same way. The details table says 5.5 hours while the comparison widget says approximately 7.5 hours for the same model. The certificate says nothing about charge time, so there is no tiebreak.

Suspension is a third disagreement worth noting before you buy: the details table lists front suspension, while the comparison widget marks suspension as not applicable for the E2 Pro. Confirm all three of these with Segway before ordering if any of them decides it for you.

Battery, range and the conditions behind the range figure

The specification table gives a nominal battery energy of 275 watt-hours and a nominal capacity of 7650 milliamp-hours, matching the certificate's 7.65 amp-hours at 36 volts. Motor nominal power is listed as 350 watts and maximum power as 750 watts, and the bullets quote the 750-watt figure as peak power.

Range is quoted by mode: 24.9 miles in Eco, 21.7 in Standard and 16.8 in Sport according to the comparison widget, with the bullets rounding Eco to about 25 miles at 9.3 miles per hour. The bullets also mention RideyLONG technology said to extend range by 20 percent and a stated ability to climb inclines up to 18 percent.

The manual prints the test conditions for those range figures, which is the useful part: a full battery, a 75 kilogram or 165 pound load, 25 degrees Celsius, ridden at each mode's maximum speed on average on pavement. A heavier rider, colder weather or hills will land below the published figure.

Brakes, tires and the pressure the two sources disagree on

Braking is a front drum brake plus a rear electric brake, which both the bullets and the details table state. The comparison widget describes the E2 Pro's wheels as 10-inch air-leakage-proof tubeless pneumatic tires, and the details table lists the wheel type as pneumatic rubber.

Tire pressure is where the documents part company. The listing's specification table says a recommended tire pressure of 45 plus or minus 3 psi, while the manual's maintenance schedule instructs you to inflate the tires to 50 to 55 psi. Those ranges do not overlap. Ask Segway which figure is current for the tires fitted to your unit before inflating them.

The rest of the hardware list from the bullets is a 2.8-inch dashboard, traction control and Apple Find My integration, and the manual describes an ambient light switched from the power button.

Ratings, rider limits and a maintenance schedule with a fee attached

The scooter carries an IPX4 rating according to the specification table; neither document we read explains what riding conditions that rating allows, so ask Segway before riding in rain. Stated operating temperature is 14 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, storage 14 to 122, and battery charging 32 to 113, with the certificate's Celsius figures matching the charging range.

Rider limits are published clearly: a required height of 4 feet 5 inches to 6 feet 5 inches and a recommended age of 16 and over. Net weight is 41.4 pounds and gross 54.9 according to the specification table, so weigh that against any stairs on your route.

The manual's recommended maintenance schedule runs at three months, six months or 310 miles, and after two years or more than 3,107 miles, and it states plainly that this maintenance schedule charges a service fee. It also says original Segway-Ninebot parts must be used for repairs, and that the battery should be replaced after 500 charge and discharge cycles or once total mileage passes 15,000 kilometres, with a charge every 60 days during long storage. The listing's warranty field says a two-year limited warranty and refers you to the warranty manual, which was not among the documents attached.
