What NOCO rates the GBX55 for
NOCO rates the Boost X GBX55 at 1750 amps peak, for gas engines up to 7.5 litres and diesel engines up to 5.0 litres, on its overview and tech specs pages; the listing uses the same figures. The internal battery is a 46 watt-hour lithium-ion pack, according to both the tech specs page and the user guide.
NOCO's user guide says the GBX55 is for 12-volt lead-acid batteries only. It is designed to start 12-volt lead-acid batteries down to 3 volts; below that, the guide says the Boost light stays off.
The listing's bullet says the 60-second timer delivers up to 9 jump starts per charge. That count does not appear on NOCO's overview page, its tech specs page or in the guide pages we read, so it rests on the listing alone; ask NOCO if the number of starts per charge matters to you.
The 60-second timeout and the five-starts rule
The GBX55 has a timeout built in. NOCO's guide says a 60-second countdown starts as soon as a battery is detected, and after 60 seconds the jump starting function is disabled until the unit is switched off and on again. The guide says the power LED turns orange after the timeout, while NOCO's overview page calls it a yellow power LED. The guide recommends switching off after the vehicle starts to maximise the number of jump starts.
The guide also sets a duty limit: no more than five consecutive jump starts within a fifteen-minute period, then a fifteen-minute rest. Its troubleshooting table adds cold and hot indicators, and says that when the unit is too cold or too hot to jump start, only the flashlight is available.
Manual override is for batteries below 3 volts. The guide's caution says both the spark-proof and reverse polarity protections are disabled in that mode, that the 60-second timeout is disabled too, and that the mode uses up to 1750 amps. We do not reproduce the procedure; it is in NOCO's guide.
USB-C charging at up to 60 W, and the charger it needs
NOCO's overview page says the GBX55 fully recharges in 1.2 hours, or goes from 0% to jump starting in 5 minutes of charge, and the guide's recharge table gives 1.2 hours with a 60 W charger. The overview says to use compatible chargers up to 60 W; the tech specs page lists USB-C input from 5 V at 1.5 A up to 20 V at 3 A.
The listing's box contents name a USB-C charging cable, and NOCO's box list names a USB-C to USB-C cable. Neither lists a wall charger, so the 1.2-hour figure depends on a 60 W USB-C charger you supply. The guide says the NOCO Auto Charger, which is not included, is the most effective way to charge it, and that the vehicle must be running for it to fast charge.
The same USB-C port charges other devices at up to 60 W, and there is a USB-A output at 5 V, 2.1 A, 10 W. The guide says to power the GBX55 on before plugging in a device you want to charge; otherwise it will draw power from a dual-role USB-C device instead.
Clamps, box contents and the flashlight
NOCO's tech specs page lists the box as the GBX55 with integrated HD precision battery clamps, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a microfiber storage bag and safety and warranty information. The listing's box block names heavy-duty jumper cable clamps, a USB-C charging cable, the storage bag and a 1-year warranty.
The flashlight is 200 lumens. The guide lists seven light modes, and NOCO's overview mentions brightness modes, SOS and an emergency strobe. The housing is rated IP65 with the ports closed, according to NOCO's tech specs page and the guide.
The guide's error light blinks in sequences of one to six flashes for conditions including a short circuit on the clamps, an incompatible charger, connection to a system above 12 V such as 24 V, a failed internal cell and a charge timeout, so keep the guide's troubleshooting page with the unit.
Size, weight and temperature limits
NOCO's tech specs page and the guide both give the weight as 2.58 pounds (1.17 kg). The listing's product details give 3.37 pounds. The listing does not say whether its figure includes packaging, and NOCO does not comment on the difference.
The guide gives dimensions of 7.7 by 4.9 by 2.5 inches, and the tech specs page gives a height of 4.9 inches, width 7.66 inches and depth 2.5 inches, which agree. The listing gives 6.34 by 3.94 by 9.13 inches, and does not say whether that is the carton.
The guide lists operating temperatures of -20°C to +50°C, charging at 0°C to +40°C and storage at -20°C to +50°C as an average temperature, with natural convection cooling. The cold and hot indicators tell you when the unit is outside its jump-starting range.
Warranty: one year, repair, replace or refund
NOCO's guide dated 02.07.2024 gives a one-year limited warranty from the date of original retail purchase or delivery for NOCO-branded products in their original packaging, and says the period may extend to a minimum of two years for purchasers in the EU, EFTA and the UK. The tech specs page calls it a 1 Year Hassle-Free Warranty.
The same guide says NOCO will, at its option, repair the product, replace it with the same model or a substantially similar one with your consent, or give a refund. It requires information including proof of purchase, and says the warranty is non-transferable and does not cover return packaging and transport costs.
The guide excludes damage from accident, misuse, liquid contact or other external cause, modification, disassembly or attempted unauthorized repair, cosmetic damage, operating outside NOCO's published guidelines, normal wear, and units with a removed serial number. Keep your receipt and check the seller and condition of the offer you select.
