Which grill this is: the DualFire 1200, sold by recteq

The Amazon listing gives no model number, but its UPC 810021996165 is the barcode recteq's own product page data carries for the DualFire 1200, sku RT-1200DF, and the offer is sold by recteq, LLC, the company named in the manual. This page covers the grill-only listing, not the separate grill and cover bundle.

The manual's contents list includes four meat probes, a grate tool, a left-side heat deflector and cooking grate, a right-side deflector, drip pan, main grate and top grate, two smokestacks, a drip bucket and a side shelf carrying the controller. recteq's page gives an assembly time of 60 minutes, and the manual asks for a second person to stand the grill upright.

Two chambers that run on their own

recteq describes one chamber for indirect, low-and-slow smoking and a smaller direct-heat chamber for searing, and its FAQ says each chamber has its own controls and can be used alone or together. The manual confirms each side is controlled independently, and it sets temperature in 25-degree steps on the left side and 5-degree steps on the right.

The page gives a range of 180°F to 700°F and says the PID control holds within 5°F of the set point on the indirect side and 25°F on the direct side. The manual adds a LO setting that feeds pellets at the minimum rate for the most smoke and a FUL setting that feeds at full auger capacity. The app is optional; recteq's FAQ says the grill has push-button start and onboard controls.

1,229 or 1,264 square inches, and the 70 pound hopper

recteq's specification table and feature list give 1,229 square inches of total cooking space, while the interior notes on the same page say 1,264 square inches. recteq does not explain the difference on the page, so plan around the lower figure if the space is tight for your cooks.

The page gives a 70 pound hopper and says it is good for 70 hours of cooking. Its spec table lists two grill grates of 304 stainless steel, while the manual's parts list names three (one left-side grate and a main and top grate on the right). The page also lists stainless steel firepots, a cast iron heat deflector and a ceramic igniter that recteq rates at more than 100,000 lighting cycles. A front-folding stainless shelf is listed as optional, and interior lighting is listed as no.

Placement, power and moving it

The manual says outdoor use only, on level ground, with at least 18 inches from the grill to combustible construction or materials at the rear, sides and top, never under combustible ceilings or overhangs, and never on a combustible floor. recteq's page lists the power source as a 110 volt AC GFCI outlet, and the manual says to unplug the grill when it is not in use.

It says never to move the grill while it is hot or without assistance, to lock the wheels, and never to put it in a vehicle or small space until it is completely cool and the fire is verified as out. It also says never to unplug the grill to turn it off. The manual's safety pages, including the carbon monoxide warnings, should be read in full before first use.

First burn, shutdown and cleaning

The manual's setup asks for the hopper to be at least half full and each side run at 400°F for 1 hour with the lids down. That same section says to place a quarter cup of pellets in each firepot, while the operating text on the same page says not to fill the firepots by hand, so ask recteq which step applies before the first burn. Each side must be shut down with its own power button, and the manual says to keep the lid closed and not move the grill until it has fully cooled.

The manual says to clean the firepots every 3 to 5 cooks or every 16 hours of cooking, to clean ash from the grill, firepots and hopper every 5 to 6 bags of pellets, to wait at least 12 hours after cooking before removing ash, and to empty the hopper if the grill will sit for 6 weeks or more. It says to cook very fatty foods at 350°F or below and to change greasy foil before a high-temperature cook.

Six years, residential, and rust is excluded

The manual gives the DualFire 1200 a 6-year limited warranty from the date of purchase by the original owner, for normal residential use, and recteq's specification table also lists 6 years. recteq's obligation is replacement of covered failed components, with parts returned freight prepaid; transportation, labor and export duties are not covered, and commercial use is excluded.

The warranty excludes paint, the grill cover and corrosion damage, and states that it does not cover rust or oxidation for any reason. It also says no warranty is extended to anyone who buys from anyone other than recteq or an authorized recteq distributor; this listing is sold by recteq, LLC, but check the seller on the offer you choose.
