Which grill this is: RT-380BD, not the RT-B380X
The Amazon listing is sold by recteq, LLC and gives model RT-380BD. recteq's product page prints RT-380BD as the code for the Bullseye Deluxe 380BD, and the cover of the RT-380BD manual reads RT-380BD Bullseye Deluxe, so the listing and the maker documents agree on the code.
recteq's support site also has a separate manual for an RT-B380X, which recteq also calls the Bullseye Deluxe, and recteq's RT-B380 is the standard Bullseye. The three are different codes with different manuals, so match RT-380BD on the listing or the box. A second Amazon listing for the same grill carries a different model field, so this page follows the one whose model field reads RT-380BD.
380 square inches, an 18 pound hopper and the size
recteq's product page gives an 18 pound hopper and, in its specification image, 380 square inches of cooking space on a 22 by 22 inch rack, with room for 4 racks of baby back ribs, 50 wings or 24 burgers. The image gives 36 inches wide, 27 inches deep, 42.5 inches high and a total weight of 95 pounds.
recteq says the hopper gives 18 hours of continuous cooking with its own US-made wood pellets, and describes 304 stainless steel in the chamber, grates, barrel and lid, a cast iron heat deflector, a 22 inch diameter stainless dome with rainproof venting, an off-set hinge and bull horn handles. The manual recommends two people to stand the grill upright and to lock the caster wheels.
Temperatures: a knob, a 1000°F maximum and no fixed top
recteq's page says the grill holds temperature within 5°F of the set point, or as high as 1000°F with an afterburner firepot, and the listing says 200°F to 1000°F. The manual describes the control differently: a knob that picks a computer-maintained temperature in 25° steps from 225°F to 500°F and in 50° steps from 500°F to 750°F.
Below 225°F the display reads LO, which the manual calls the lowest temperature the grill can reach and puts at about 200°F to 225°F. Past 750°F it reads FUL, which the manual says covers 750°F to 1000°F and is not an exact temperature, because it depends on ambient conditions and pellets. The manual lists error codes ER-1 for power failure, ER-2 when the grill has not ignited within 30 minutes and ER-3 for an unplugged RTD or an overheated grill.
Wi-Fi: the page and listing say yes, the manual says nothing
recteq's product page mentions an upgraded Wi-Fi controller, and the Amazon listing says WiFi enabled with dual-band Wi-Fi and PID control. The 21-page RT-380BD manual describes the power button, temperature knob, settings button and test mode, and never mentions Wi-Fi, an app or pairing.
Because the manual gives no setup steps for a network connection, ask recteq how the Wi-Fi controller connects and what the app does before you rely on remote control. The dual-band detail comes only from the Amazon listing; recteq's page names an upgraded Wi-Fi controller and PID control but gives no network or app details.
Clearance, power and fire rules
The manual says the grill is for outdoor use only, needs a minimum of 18 inches of clearance from combustible construction or materials at the rear, sides and top, and must stand on level ground, never under a combustible ceiling or overhang and never on a combustible floor. It says to plug into a properly grounded GFCI outlet, to use a 14-gauge or heavier outdoor-rated extension cord if one is needed, and to unplug the grill when it is not in use.
Because the Bullseye is a direct-heat grill, the manual highly recommends a water pan on the deflector during low and slow cooks to prevent grease build-up, and says to cook fatty foods at 350°F or below. It also says to change any foil that has collected grease before cooking at high temperatures, warning that failing to do so will most certainly cause a grease fire, and it carries a carbon monoxide warning listing headache, dizziness and nausea.
Break-in, cleaning and shutdown
For first use the manual recommends washing the grate, filling the hopper at least halfway, putting a quarter cup of pellets in the firepot and running the grill at 400°F with the lid down for one hour. It says never to fill the firepot by hand during normal use, to use only wood pellet fuel made for cooking with no additives, and that wet pellets swell and jam the auger.
It asks you to clean the firepot every 3 to 5 cooks or every 16 hours of cooking, to clean ash from the interior, firepot and hopper every 5 to 6 bags of pellets, and to wait at least 12 hours after cooking before removing ash. After shutdown the fan keeps running and the grill can smoke for 15 minutes or more, which the manual calls normal, and it says not to move the grill until it is fully cooled.
Warranty and where you buy
The manual gives a 4-year limited warranty from the original owner's date of purchase for normal residential use. recteq's obligation is limited to replacing covered failed components, and the warranty does not apply to paint or the grill cover, does not cover rust or oxidation for any reason, and does not apply to commercial use.
The warranty text also says no warranties are extended to people who buy from anyone other than recteq or an authorized recteq distributor. The Amazon offer here is sold by recteq, LLC, but keep your proof of purchase and confirm the terms with recteq before you rely on them.
