The Spotlight Cam 2K Battery records 2560 by 1440 video across 140 by 85 degrees and switches on 550 lumens of spotlight when it detects motion. It holds two Quick Release battery packs, one included, and Ring rates the camera IP65. It connects on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, saved video needs a Ring Protect plan, and the listing and Ring disagree on whether a power adapter is in the box.

A battery spotlight camera, also sold as Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen)

The Spotlight Cam 2K is Ring's camera with built-in motion-activated spotlights, and this listing is the Battery version. Ring's FAQ says it is the same product as the Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen) under a new name, and the listing gives it as a 2026 release.

Ring's tech specs say the camera takes a rechargeable Quick Release Battery Pack, with one included and room for up to two, and is compatible with the Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack sold separately. Ring's install article says the security screw on the battery cover creates a seal against rain and humidity, and should always be tightened after changing a battery.

Ring describes it for side entrances, alleys and patios, and its FAQ says the Spotlight Cam is meant for smaller areas. Ring lists a vertical surface as the mounting requirement for this camera, and gives its size as 4.84 by 3.15 by 3.27 inches.

The box list differs between the listing and Ring

The listing's box row names the camera, a camera mount, one Quick Release Battery Pack, installation hardware, a Micro USB charging cable, a setup guide, a security sticker and a warranty and safety document. It says nothing about a power adapter.

Ring's own tech specs for the Battery version list the camera, mount, battery pack, installation hardware, an Outdoor Power Adapter with USB-C, the setup guide, sticker and warranty document, and do not list the Micro USB cable. The listing separately says its dual power mode requires buying the Indoor/Outdoor Power Adapter.

So one source says a USB-C outdoor adapter is in the box and the other implies you must buy one. If running the camera from an outlet part of the time matters to you, check the box on arrival against the setup guide, and do not assume the adapter is included until you see it.

Picture, spotlights and upload

Ring's FAQ says Retinal 2K means 2560 by 1440 pixels. The field of view is 140 degrees horizontal and 85 degrees vertical, with up to 6x Enhanced Zoom. The spotlights give 550 lumens at 3000 Kelvin and switch on automatically when the camera detects motion, per Ring's feature copy.

Ring recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and says the camera uses adaptive bit rate streaming. The listing adds that quality can also vary with device temperature.

Motion sensing is listed as Advanced Motion Detection with customisable motion zones. There is a siren, two-way audio with noise cancellation and live view.

2.4GHz Wi-Fi and the plan question

Ring lists Wi-Fi 4 on a single-band 2.4GHz connection only. The mounting spot needs a usable 2.4GHz signal from your router; there is no 5GHz option on this camera.

Ring's FAQ says a Ring Protect subscription is not required to use the camera: you still get real-time notifications, live view and two-way talk, and the last captured image on your dashboard. Without a plan you cannot review missed videos or images, or save or share them. The listing says rewatching and intelligent alerts need a compatible plan, sold separately, and Ring includes a free 30-day trial.

Neither source lists a memory card slot. Ring's FAQ says 24/7 Recording works only when plugged in, needs a plan plus a paid Continuous Recording add-on, and cannot be turned on while the camera runs on battery or solar power.

Weather: IP65 from Ring, and a lower limit in the sun

Ring's tech specs give IP65 for the camera device, and two operating ranges: minus 4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, or minus 20 to 50 Celsius, under shade, and minus 4 to 115 Fahrenheit, or minus 20 to 46 Celsius, with a 1000 watts per square metre solar load. The camera may temporarily turn off in direct sunlight in extreme heat.

The listing gives only the shaded range and describes the camera as weather resistant, without the IP65 figure or the 115 degree limit under a strong solar load. Both sources say the camera may turn off in direct sun in extreme heat.

Ring estimates installation at 5 to 10 minutes; its install article covers wall and ceiling mounting, asks for 5.5 inches of clear space in every direction, and calls for a quarter-inch masonry bit on stucco, brick or concrete. Ring sells a Small Solar Panel with USB-C and a Hardwired Kit as separate options, and its Hardwired Kit specs list 100 to 240V AC input.

Warranty terms from Ring

Ring's tech specs and the listing both state a one-year limited warranty. Ring's warranty page says that devices bought new or Certified Refurbished from Ring, Amazon or authorized resellers are covered against defects in materials and workmanship under ordinary consumer use for one year from the date of original retail purchase.

It excludes devices sold as Used, including used Warehouse Deals, and does not cover accident, misuse, neglect, fire, alteration, third-party repair or parts, or other external causes. Ring may repair, replace or refund at its option, and replacements are covered for the rest of the term or 90 days, whichever is longer.

Warranty service starts through Ring Community Support. Confirm the listing condition is New before ordering, and keep the order record.
