Fit and limits
Strengths
- Card, CPL filter, suction and sticky mounts all in the box
- Three parking modes with a battery-voltage cutoff via ROVE's kit
- Detailed exact-model manual with specs and troubleshooting
Caveats
- Parking mode needs a hardwire kit sold separately
- Rated to operate only up to 131°F and shuts down when too hot
- 60fps modes drop HDR and the CPL should come off at night
A two-camera kit with a card and a CPL filter in the box
The R2-4K DUAL PRO is a front camera with a 3-inch IPS screen plus a separate rear camera joined by a 6-metre cable. ROVE's manual lists the front at 3840x2160 at 30fps on a Sony IMX678 sensor and the rear at 2560x1440 at 30fps on an IMX675, with 150-degree front and 140-degree rear viewing angles and F1.7 and F1.55 apertures.
The manual's package list includes a 128GB ROVE PRO microSD card with adapter, a CPL filter, a suction mount, a spare sticky mount, a dual-USB car charger, a 12-foot power cable, cable clips, a trim tool, electrostatic films and wet pads. The Amazon listing's box list matches those items and its UPC matches the ROVE store record.
The 60fps modes switch HDR off, and the CPL is for daytime
The manual's resolution table offers front 4K, 2.7K, 1440P and 1080P modes and rear 1440P or 1080P modes. Both the 1440P 60fps and 1080P 60fps options are marked HDR not supported, so choosing a higher frame rate gives up HDR on that camera. Video is encoded in H.265 or H.264.
The included CPL filter fits the front lens. The manual notes it may reduce video quality in low light and should be removed for night driving, and it tells you to power off the camera before fitting it. Plan on taking it off and putting it back regularly if you drive at night.
Parking recording needs a separate hardwire kit
ROVE's manual says the ROVE Ultimate USB Type-C hardwire kit is required for parking mode and is not included. It describes a time-lapse at one frame per second with G-sensor event clips, a collision-detection-only mode, and a motion-detection mode with G-sensor. The listing also names these three options, though one manual page introduces them as two ways.
The manual says the hardwire kit cuts power when it detects low car-battery voltage, that GPS and Wi-Fi turn off during parking mode, and that a parking timeout from one to twelve hours can end parking mode automatically. It warns never to wire the camera straight to the car battery. A parking event is a one-minute locked clip with a voice alert at the next start; time-lapse files stay in the normal folders.
Heat limits are narrower than the storage range
The camera uses a supercapacitor, not a battery, and the manual says it holds charge for about two seconds. Its specification page gives an operating range of 14°F to 131°F, working humidity of 15 to 60 percent, and a separate storage range of -4°F to 158°F.
The manual adds that a built-in temperature sensor shuts the camera down when a parked car heats beyond its guidelines. Drivers in hot climates who want parking coverage should expect gaps on sunny afternoons. The rear camera is described as not waterproof and for inside mounting only, and the manual says the device is not designed to be damp-proof.
Power, card care and app details from the manual
ROVE tells you to power the camera only with its own USB car charger or hardwire kit and to use a 5V 2.4A source when testing indoors, or the camera may reboot or flicker. If your vehicle's 12V socket stays live with the engine off, the auto on-off will not work and the camera can drain the battery. Plug the rear camera in only while the front unit is off.
The manual asks for cards up to 1TB, formatting before first use and about every three months. It advises against two named card brands. Wi-Fi is dual-band, up to 30MB per second over 5GHz, with a default password of 12345678 in the ROVE Dash Cam app.
Warranty length depends on registering within 30 days
The listing's warranty field and the manual both say one-year limited warranty. ROVE's warranty page gives 12 months from purchase, extended to 15 months in total if you register within 30 days, and a 30-day return window with return shipping paid. Proof of original purchase is required and the warranty is limited to the first purchaser.
Under ROVE's terms, service is by authorized personnel at the buyer's cost and risk of getting the product there, remedies are repair or replacement of parts, and replacements may be new or refurbished. The exclusions we read begin with purchases from unauthorized resellers, resale, free products, cosmetic damage and abuse or accident. Check who is selling the offer you choose before relying on these terms.
