What the DL105 is and what is in the box
The Tapo DL105 is a Wi-Fi deadbolt with a fingerprint reader, a keypad, Bluetooth, a doorbell button and two backup keys, powered by a rechargeable 7,800 mAh battery. The listing's model and part number is Tapo DL105, and Tapo's datasheet and product page are both titled for the DL105.
The listing's components list is a dust box, two installation reference line stickers, a mounting plate, the battery pack, exterior and interior assemblies, the bolt, a strike plate, two keys, a silicone cover, a USB adapter cable, a measuring template, a quick start guide and screws.
Will it fit your door
Tapo's product page gives the door requirements: door thickness from 1-3/8 to 2-11/64 inches (35 to 55 mm), a backset of 2-3/8 inches (60 mm) or 2-3/4 inches (70 mm), and a minimum distance of 2-9/16 inches (65 mm). The listing says it fits 2-1/8 inch and 1-1/2 inch holes and installs in under 15 minutes.
Tapo's page lists the outside assembly as 5.88 by 2.65 by 2.20 inches, with the depth including the deadbolt section, and the inside assembly as 7.83 by 2.91 by 2.02 inches; the datasheet gives the same figures. The listing shows the item as 5.88 by 2.65 by 0.91 inches, and neither source explains the different depth. We do not reproduce installation steps.
Rechargeable battery: life, charging and temperature
The DL105 runs on a rechargeable 7,800 mAh lithium-ion battery charged at 5 V 2 A over USB-C. The datasheet's footnote gives up to 1 year in Wi-Fi mode and up to 2 years in Bluetooth mode at 20 unlocks a day; Tapo's page says roughly 12 months, and the listing says up to one year.
If the battery dies, the datasheet says you can power the lock from a phone or power bank through the outside USB-C port. It lists a charging temperature of 32°F to 113°F, an outside operating range of -22°F to 158°F and an inside range of 14°F to 131°F.
Fingerprints, codes and alerts
The datasheet lists up to 100 fingerprints with recognition under 0.5 seconds, up to 200 PIN codes, one-time, normal, scramble and emergency codes, a mechanical key and auto-lock. Tapo's page quotes the same under-0.5-second lab figure, while its opening summary says a fingerprint opens the door in about a second.
The listing and datasheet list resident, one-time and scheduled codes, and Tapo lists a lockdown with alerts after failed attempts. The app keeps an activity log, and Tapo's page notes that a PIN is required when unlocking through a third-party voice assistant.
Wi-Fi, security and weather rating
The datasheet lists Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz plus Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, 128-bit AES encryption over SSL/TLS and WPA, WPA2 or WPA3 network security. Smart integrations are Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings and IFTTT, and the datasheet says the lock should connect to the internet.
The datasheet rates the outside assembly IP54 and says the inside assembly is not weatherproof, and it lists BHMA Grade 3 certification. Tapo's page describes the lock as ANSI/BHMA certified without giving a grade. We report these ratings as stated and do not interpret them.
Warranty
Neither the datasheet, the product page nor the listing we read states a warranty length for the DL105. Ask Tapo or the seller for the warranty terms before relying on them.
