Wyze video doorbell owners who want fingerprint entry
A deadbolt replacement with a tempered glass keypad, a self-learning fingerprint reader, built-in Wi-Fi and a physical key backup, running on eight AA batteries with a USB-C rescue port. Wyze states BHMA Grade 2 and IP53. It works with Google Home and Alexa, but Apple Home is not on its list.

A deadbolt replacement built around the fingerprint reader
The Lock Bolt v2, model WLCKB2, replaces your existing deadbolt rather than clipping over the thumbturn, and Wyze says the job takes about 20 minutes. The front face is a tempered glass keypad with a fingerprint sensor, and Wyze says an unlock takes as little as 0.5 seconds.
The fingerprint system is described as self-learning: Wyze says it updates your profile on every touch to adjust for pressure, angle and small changes in your skin, rather than matching against a single enrolment. Capacity is up to 50 fingerprints and up to 50 access codes, and codes can be one-time or set to expire on a schedule.
The keypad has an anti-peep feature. Wyze says you can add random digits before or after your real PIN and the lock will ignore the decoys, which is useful when a delivery driver or contractor is standing beside you. There is also a hidden traditional keyway with backup keys for when nothing electronic works.
What it connects to, and what it does not
Wi-Fi is built into the lock, so Wyze says you can lock, unlock, check status and view activity from the Wyze app from anywhere, with no hub or bridge. Wyze lists activity history among the app features without detailing what each entry records.
Wyze's own comparison table lists the smart home support for this model as Wyze Automations, Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Apple Home, HomeKit and Siri are not listed for any of the three Wyze locks in that table, so do not buy this expecting to add it to an Apple household.
One footnote on Wyze's page is worth carrying into your decision: it says a Bluetooth connection is required for app features. That sits slightly oddly beside the built-in Wi-Fi claim, so if you intend to manage the lock while away from the house, ask Wyze which features work over Wi-Fi alone and which need you to be in Bluetooth range.
Power, alarms and getting in when the batteries die
Power is eight AA batteries, included, with Wyze claiming up to eight months of life and low-battery alerts. Its comparison table is consistent on that: eight AA cells and up to eight months for this model.
If the batteries do go flat while you are outside, the emergency route is a USB-C port on the lock: Wyze says to connect a power bank, power the lock for a moment and enter your code. The physical backup key is the other fallback and needs nothing charged at all.
The lock also has a tamper response. Wyze describes tamper detection with a built-in alarm and an alert in the app. Auto-lock is timer-based here, set in the Wyze app, rather than triggered by a door sensor, and the listing states plainly that a door sensor is not included.
Certification, weather and where the data lives
Wyze states BHMA Certified Grade 2 on its product page and lists ANSI/BHMA as BHMA 2 in its comparison table, which is the maker's own wording for this model. No certificate was read for this page, so ask Wyze for the certificate reference if the grade is decisive for you.
Weather resistance is given as IP53, and nothing we read explains what conditions that rating covers. It is worth weighing against a fully exposed door with no storm door or porch cover.
On privacy, Wyze says fingerprint and code data is stored locally on the lock rather than in the cloud, describes hardware encryption, and offers two-factor authentication within the Wyze app. Nothing we read says a subscription is required to use the lock's app features.
The fit information that is missing
This is the gap to close before ordering. Wyze says the lock is compatible with almost all exterior doors, but neither its product page nor the one document attached to the listing states a door thickness range, a backset, a cross bore diameter or an edge bore depth. The listing attaches only a warranty policy, not an installation guide.
Wyze does publish an installation guide, a calibration guide and a setup guide as support articles linked from the product page. We did not open those, so if your door is unusual, go and read the installation guide first and measure against it rather than relying on almost all exterior doors.
Wyze also lists compatibility with its own video doorbells, naming the Wyze Video Doorbell v2, Video Doorbell Pro, Duo Cam Doorbell and Battery Video Doorbell, and says you can unlock directly from the doorbell's live view. If you already own one of those, that pairing is a documented reason to consider this lock.
One year of warranty, and a longer one you cannot get here
Wyze's warranty policy gives the original owner one year from the date of purchase from Wyze or an authorised retailer, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Wyze chooses between replacing the product or refunding the amount actually paid, as money back, store credit or a gift card, and replacements may be new or refurbished.
Wyze's product page separately advertises an 18-month extended warranty as a benefit of buying on wyze.com. That is a purchase-channel condition, so an Amazon purchase is covered by the one-year term rather than the longer one. Decide whether the shorter term matters before choosing where to buy.
The exclusions are worth knowing. The warranty is not transferable, needs valid proof of purchase, does not apply to products located outside the United States or Canada, and excludes items bought from unauthorised resellers, products that have been dropped, exposed to extreme temperatures or water, or operated contrary to Wyze documentation, and anything repaired by an unauthorised party. Wyze also notes its warranty is not supported outside the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada.
