What the VX1 is and what comes in the box
Amazon's details give this ASIN as model and part number 075804, the Vitamix VX1, UPC 703113758041, and Vitamix's own VX1 product page lists the same item under SKU 075804-04. The owner's manual attached to the listing is for the VX1 High-Performance Blender, model code VM0252, document 153799 Rev A dated 10/25.
Vitamix's What comes in the box list is the VX1 motor base, a classic 64-ounce container and a classic tamper. Amazon's list adds the owner's manual, and gives the blade part number as 104673B. Vitamix places the VX1 in its VX Series and describes it as aimed at first-time buyers or fans of the 5200.
The manual says the VX1 is for household use only and not for commercial purposes, and the warranty excludes commercial, rental and non-household use. Plan on it as a home blender.
Size, power and where it will fit
The manual gives the height with the 64-ounce container on the base as 19.6 inches, depth 9.5 inches and width 7.75 inches. Vitamix's page gives 9.5 by 7.8 by 19.6 inches. At that height, measure the clearance under your wall cabinets before planning to leave the container on the base.
Electrical ratings are 120 V, 12 A and 1440 W in the manual; Vitamix's page gives 120 V, 1440 W and 2.2 HP. The cord is 3.5 feet on both Vitamix's page and Amazon's details. The manual says to use a grounded outlet and never an adapter, extension cord, timer or switched outlet, so the blender needs to sit within 3.5 feet of a suitable outlet.
Weight differs between sources: Vitamix's page says 12.6 pounds and Amazon's details say 10.2 pounds. Ask Vitamix which figure is current if weight matters for where you store it.
Controls: variable speed, Pulse and self-cleaning
The manual describes an On/Off switch on the motor base and a control panel with a Pulse switch on the left, a Start/Stop switch on the right and a Variable Speed Dial in the center running from 1, slowest, to 10, highest. The dial also has a Standby position and a Self-Cleaning position.
A status light comes on with power, dims into standby after 30 seconds of inactivity, and flashes continuously if the motor overheats; the manual says to unplug and let it cool for 20 to 45 minutes in that case. The manual also describes a timer that counts blend time.
Vitamix's product page describes the self-cleaning program as needing warm water and a drop of dish soap. The manual gives the container-cleaning steps, which use the Self-Cleaning dial position; it says the program stops automatically.
Which Vitamix containers fit the VX1
The manual lists the containers that work with the VX1 motor base: the 64-ounce Classic, the 64-ounce Low Profile, the 48-ounce containers including the Aer Disc, Dry Grains and Stainless Steel versions, the 32-ounce container and 32-ounce Dry Grains container, and the Personal Cup Adapter. Vitamix's page summarises this as compatible with all 48 and 64-ounce Vitamix containers and the Personal Cup Adapter.
The manual also names what does not fit: the Vitamix 12-Cup Food Processor Attachment and the SELF-DETECT Blending Cup and Bowl Blade Base will not work with the VX1 motor base. Check that list before buying accessories.
Lids and tampers are not interchangeable between container styles, according to the manual. It gives the classic 64-ounce tamper as about 12.5 inches, the Low Profile tamper as about 11 inches, and the 48 and 32-ounce tamper as about 9.8 inches. Use the tamper that matches the container you are blending in.
Blending limits and cleaning burden
The manual sets several limits worth knowing before you buy. The container must not be exposed to ingredients or temperatures over 210 degrees Fahrenheit, it must not be filled above the marked maximum line, and the tamper should not be used for more than 30 seconds at a time or when the container is more than two-thirds full. For nut butters and other oil-based foods, it says not to process for more than one minute after the mixture starts to circulate.
Cleaning is split by part. The manual says the container is not dishwasher safe and the blade assembly should not be removed or left to soak. The centering pad and tamper can go in the dishwasher. The motor base is wiped with a damp cloth and must never be immersed.
The manual also includes optional sanitizing procedures for the container. Follow the manual's own instructions for those rather than a summary.
The 5-year warranty and its conditions
The manual gives a 5-year limited warranty measured from the earlier of the purchase date or delivery date, extended to the original owner when the blender is bought from Vitamix or an authorized retailer. It says the warranty is not available in the United States or Canada for products bought from unauthorized sellers, and it is not transferable. Confirm that the seller of your Amazon offer is Vitamix or an authorized retailer.
Under the warranty Vitamix will repair or exchange a product it deems defective, and it pays standard shipping for warranty returns. Exclusions include commercial or rental use, altered or missing serial numbers, cosmetic changes, misuse or failure to follow the manual's maintenance and cleaning instructions, non-genuine parts, and use outside the country of sale. Removing the serial number data label voids the warranty.
The manual says proof of purchase is requested only for blenders that have not been registered, so keep your receipt if you do not register. Vitamix's page offers an optional paid 3-year extension on its own store.
