A four-leg, frame-only base for very large tops
The DESK-E-400B is a black steel frame with four legs and two motors, per VIVO's page. It is sold without a desktop. VIVO recommends tops from 60 by 36 inches up to 130 by 60 inches and at least three quarters of an inch thick, which suits conference tables, workbenches and oversized desks.
VIVO gives the frame itself as 59 by 33.5 inches at its smallest and 110 by 41.5 inches at its largest. The crossbar hole sets are spaced eight inches apart, so length is set in steps rather than continuously, and you choose between a large-frame and a small-frame build before you start.
Height range, lift speed and a 352 pound rating
VIVO's product page and the listing give a height range of 27.7 to 46 inches, a lift speed of 0.95 inches per second and a power input of 100 to 240 volts. That range starts higher and ends lower than many two-leg frames, so check both your sitting and standing elbow heights against it before ordering.
The frame is rated for 352 pounds, or 160 kilograms, on both the product page and the manual's warning page. The same manual lists lower limits for VIVO's four-panel and five-panel conference kits built on this frame, so those figures do not apply to the bare frame sold on this listing.
The manual's size ranges do not all agree
The manual's contents page describes the large-frame build for desktops from 96 by 36 to 130 by 60 inches and the small-frame build for 60 by 36 to 95 by 60 inches. The small-frame section heading then says 60 by 36 to 96 by 36 inches, and one of its notes calls the smallest frame suitable for a 60 by 30 inch top.
VIVO's product page says the minimum recommended top is 60 by 36 inches. If your top sits near the edges of these ranges, especially at 30 inches deep or between 95 and 96 inches long, ask VIVO support which build to follow before drilling.
Assembly is long and involves many pilot holes
The manual lists a Phillips screwdriver, a power drill and a 7/64 inch bit as tools you supply; 2, 4 and 5 mm Allen wrenches are included. The build is long, with the manual running to sixty pages, so set aside time and a second person for the flip.
The top is placed face down, the frame centred on it, and 3/8 inch deep pilot holes are drilled at every mounting point. The control panel can go on the desktop or, where there is no room, onto a crossbar using the included spacer.
The motor duty limit is two minutes, not five
This frame's manual says the HOT code appears after two minutes of continuous motor running. The notes say the system returns to normal after about twenty minutes, while the error table says to wait eighteen minutes; both say not to unplug the desk to clear a HOT state. Plan height changes as short moves.
There are three memory keys and a short press moves the desk about 0.39 inches. Collision force detection can be set to low, normal or high; this manual lists no off setting. If the load exceeds the rating while moving, the desk drops about 30 millimetres and stops.
Warranty is a website badge; returns and parts are in the manual
The manual does not print warranty terms and refers you to the DESK-E-400B product page, which shows a three-year warranty badge and a thirty-day return policy. The Amazon warranty description field also says three years. Neither source we read lists what the three years covers or excludes.
The manual asks you to contact VIVO within thirty days of delivery about damaged, defective or missing parts for free replacement. Return shipping for items ordered in error or no longer needed is at the buyer's expense. Warranty terms themselves are deferred to the website.
