A small-dose hand grinder for a personal coffee routine
The Midnight Black X-Ultra is a manual coffee grinder with an external adjustment ring, a stainless-steel heptagonal burr and a magnetic grounds cup. This guide covers Amazon ASIN B0CFXGGFLR; its expanded model field identifies X-Ultra-Midnight Black. The manufacturer describes it for both pour-over and espresso. Choose it if a compact hand-grinding routine suits the amount of coffee you normally prepare.
There is no motor to do the work or automatic dose measurement to set the quantity. You load the beans, turn the handle and transfer the grounds to your brewing equipment. A folding handle and carrying case help with packing, but portability alone does not make it the right choice for repeated drinks. Consider how many separate doses you will grind on a busy morning.
The 25–30 g cup is the main batch-size limit
Both the manufacturer’s product specifications and the selected Amazon listing give the magnetic catch cup a nominal grounds capacity of twenty-five to thirty grams. That is a useful fit for many individual recipes, but it is not a two-drink promise. For example, two eighteen-gram doses total thirty-six grams, which exceeds even the top of the stated range.
For those two drinks, plan to empty the cup between doses rather than collecting both in one cup. A larger filter-coffee recipe may also require more than one grinding round. The stated range is grounds capacity, not a verified water volume or a guarantee that every bean and grind setting packs identically. If larger batches are your daily routine, compare grinders with a larger usable capacity before choosing by size alone.
Read 12.5 microns as an adjustment step
The exact X-Ultra manual specifies sixty clicks per full rotation and 0.0125 millimeters, or 12.5 microns, of burr movement per click. Turning the adjustment ring counterclockwise makes the grind finer; clockwise makes it coarser. The smaller numerical step is an adjustment feature, not proof of better-tasting coffee or a measurement of every particle coming out of the grinder.
Keep a note of the dial setting when moving between espresso and pour-over, then adjust for the coffee and recipe you actually use. The manual defines the starting point by resistance and warns against overtightening. Do not force the dial to create a tighter zero. We have not tested grind speed, physical effort, particle distribution or shot quality, and no single setting is presented here as a universal recipe.
Plan to recalibrate after taking it apart
The product page describes tool-free disassembly without losing calibration, but the model-specific manual explicitly tells you to calibrate after reassembly. Plan for that check. The manual’s procedure compares the indicator with zero at the resistance point and explains how to align the ring when necessary; use the complete instructions and illustrations for the actual work.
The X-Ultra manual says not to wash or soak the grinder and to store it dry. A cleaning brush and air blower are included in both the manufacturer’s kit list and the exact retail listing. Do not treat tool-free disassembly as permission to rinse the burr assembly. The manual specifies an assembly order and warns against loosening the burr-ring unit too early, so follow that sequence instead of improvising from a short buying guide.
The folding handle is documented on the product page and the retail listing. However, the handle section on the X-Ultra manual page is labeled for X-Pro S. This guide does not substitute that section for confirmed X-Ultra handle instructions. If the supplied instructions leave handle operation unclear, ask the manufacturer before forcing or taking apart its mechanism.
Check the kit and coverage before ordering
The exact listing names a carrying case, cleaning brush, air blower and anti-slip rubber band. The manufacturer’s package list names the same accessories alongside the grinder. Check the selected offer and condition before ordering, particularly if buying a used unit where the full kit may not be present. The case is useful to the buying decision, but its packed dimensions are not established by the grinder’s own measurements.
1Zpresso’s product notice describes a one-year limited warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. Confirm the seller, applicable terms and purchase record; direct-store shipping policies are not automatically the policies for an Amazon purchase. This guide does not repeat the advertised lifetime grinding quantity as a durability guarantee. The strongest reason to choose the X-Ultra is its documented small-dose, externally adjustable manual workflow.
