What the listing sells and which document covers it
The listing is for a white Autel MaxiCharger that plugs into a NEMA 14-50 receptacle and supplies up to 40 amps at 240 volts through a 25-foot charging cable. The document attached to the listing is Autel's MaxiCharger AC Lite 10 kW Installation and Operation Manual, version 2.0, dated February 2024.
That manual's in-the-box list is the charger, a wall dock, two M6 by 50 screws, one M5 by 12 screw, two 5/16-inch wall anchors, a bottom-entry power conduit plug, a quick reference guide, a packing list, and T25 and T10 Torx screwdrivers. The manual also lists tools you supply yourself, including a stud finder, a drill and a multimeter.
The listing gives 106000764 as both the manufacturer part number and the model number. Autel's United States site carries no AC Lite page or document and no occurrence of that number, so the manual attached to this listing is the only document we read that describes this charger.
The circuit: a 50 A breaker for 40 A output
Autel's manual treats the charger as a continuous load device and says branch circuits must be sized at 125 percent of the load under the National Electric Code. For a maximum 40 A load at 208 or 240 volts, it says a 50 A breaker is required. That figure drives whether your panel can take this charger at all.
The manual says an existing NEMA outlet must comply with local electrical codes and have a designated breaker and wiring dimensioned for it, that you need the correct permits, and that the outlet must be outdoor-rated and weather-resistant. Leave the outlet work and the code check to a licensed electrician, who should read the manual's installation section.
Two placement rules from the manual affect where the outlet goes: it says the NEMA outlet must be on the left side of the charger, and that the ground pin faces up. The manual also cautions that a supplementary surge protection breaker must be installed at the service panel where thunderstorms are frequent.
The current selector inside the cover
The manual describes a built-in current selector for installing the charger on a circuit rated below the charger's maximum. Reaching it means removing the covers with the supplied T10 Torx screwdriver and turning a rotary switch, which is installer work rather than something you change day to day.
The manual's table pairs each selector position with a breaker rating: 16 A with 20 A, 24 A with 30 A, 32 A with 40 A and 40 A with 50 A. It also lists 48 A with 60 A and 50 A with 70 A positions, then notes that for this charger the maximum current is 40 A and that positions 0, 7, 8 and 9 still produce 16, 50, 50 and 50 amps respectively.
Autel's caution on that page is to connect the charger only to a circuit whose over-current protection is 125 percent of the selected setting. Tell your electrician which circuit you have and let them choose the position.
Enclosure, temperature range and mounting height
The specification table gives a NEMA 4X enclosure for indoor or outdoor installation, an operating temperature of minus 40 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit, storage from minus 40 to 158 degrees, humidity under 95 percent non-condensing and an operating altitude of 6,561.68 feet. Mounting is on a wall or on a pedestal.
The manual sets a minimum outdoor installation height of 24 inches and a minimum indoor height of 18 inches. It gives the charger body as 13.2 by 7.4 by 3.8 inches and about 15.9 pounds, which is the number to use when you are measuring a garage wall.
Other specification lines: an SAE J1772 connector on a 25-foot cable, four LEDs for power, internet, charging and Bluetooth, an RFID card reader covering ISO 15693 and ISO 14443, Bluetooth plus 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, OCPP 1.6J, a metering IC at plus or minus one percent, and 20 mA ground fault detection with auto retry.
Where the listing and the manual disagree
The manual's specification table calls the input cord a NEMA 16-50P, while the listing title, the bullets and the connector row of the detail table all say NEMA 14-50. We are not going to guess which is the error. Look at the plug on the unit in front of you, and confirm the receptacle type with your electrician before any work is booked.
The cord length differs too. The manual gives the input cord as 23.6 inches, or 600 millimetres, while the listing describes a 2.63-foot power cord. Weight differs as well, at about 15.9 pounds in the manual against 18.06 pounds in the listing, and neither document explains the gap.
Dimensions do not match either. The manual gives 13.2 by 7.4 by 3.8 inches for the charger, while the listing's product dimensions row reads 12 inches deep by 16 wide by 5 high. Neither document says what either set of figures measures, so confirm the size of the unit itself before you commit wall space.
Warranty terms and what Autel's own site lists
Autel's MaxiCharger Limited Warranty document, linked from Autel Energy's US downloads page, applies to Autel AC and DC chargers and gives 36 months for AC chargers, beginning on the date of installation or no longer than 42 months after delivery. The listing's warranty field says 3 years. Replacement parts carry a 90-day limited warranty, and consumable parts are excluded.
The exclusions list includes purchase from an unauthorized reseller or installation by an uncertified installer, unauthorized repairs or modifications, service by unqualified technicians, damage from natural disasters, and damage caused by the vehicle the charger was plugged into. Autel also says a warranty extension must be bought before the standard warranty expires.
Autel asks for the charger serial number when you contact support, and the warranty document says purchase details including the serial number should be presented to Autel before installation or within a week after it. Keep the installer's paperwork and the serial number together. Note that Autel's US residential pages and downloads page list MaxiCharger AC Elite Home models and do not name the AC Lite, so the manual attached to the listing is the document worth saving.
