EVIQO EVIPOWER NACS 48A Hardwired Level 2 EV Charger
A Tesla or other NACS car on a hardwired 60-amp circuit
This is EVIQO's hardwired charger with a NACS connector, so Tesla drivers plug in without an adapter and can pop the charge-port cover with a button on the handle. It ships set to 48 amps on a dedicated 60-amp circuit, with a 50-amp setting available behind the faceplate on a 70-amp circuit.

A NACS connector on a hardwired charger
This is EVIQO's hardwired charger with a North American Charging Standard connector, which the data sheet calls SAE J3400 and lists under model EVIPOWER248N. It plugs straight into a Tesla Model S, 3, X or Y, and into any other EV with a NACS port, with no adapter. EVIQO states that a car with a CCS1 or J1772 inlet needs a NACS-to-J1772 adapter, and that one is not included.
That is the mirror image of EVIQO's J1772 models. If your household has one Tesla and one J1772 car, the adapter question decides which version to buy, and the adapter is a separate purchase either way.
The unit is hardwired: EVIQO supplies a three-wire whip with a liquid-tight connector and flexible conduit, states that the charger has no rear cable port so the bottom access port is used, and says installation must be by a licensed electrician per the National Electrical Code.
Forty-eight amps standard, fifty behind the faceplate
The hardwired EVIPOWER ships set to 48 amps, which EVIQO says needs a dedicated 60-amp circuit, and its FAQ puts that at up to 46 miles of range per hour and 11.5 kW. The listing headline claims up to 50 miles per hour, which corresponds to the 50-amp setting rather than the default.
EVIQO's amperage table is the same across the range: a 70-amp circuit gives 50 amps at switch position 4, hardwire only; 60 amps gives 48 at position 3; 50 amps gives 40 at position 2; 40 amps gives 32 at position 1; 30 amps gives 24 by setting position 1 and reducing in the app; and 20 amps gives 16 at position 0. EVIQO explains the pairing with the National Electrical Code 80 per cent rule for continuous loads of three hours or more.
Moving to 50 amps is a hardware change. The Amperage Dip Switch sits inside the unit on the motherboard, reached by powering off, removing the charger from its bracket with the supplied Allen wrench, unscrewing seven screws on the back and detaching the faceplate. Note that EVIQO's FAQ describes this as DIP switch positions 4 and 5 while its installation guide's table gives value 4; ask EVIQO which is correct before your electrician opens the unit. Either way, a licensed electrician should confirm the panel can carry a 70-amp circuit before you plan on 50 amps.
The button on the handle, and what it needs to work
The NACS handle carries a charge-port open and release button on its top side, and EVIQO documents how it behaves. It transmits at 315 MHz, a short press opens the charge-port cover on compatible vehicles, and the same button is pressed to release the connector from the port at the end of a session.
Two conditions apply. EVIQO states the button only works when the vehicle is unlocked or detects the owner's smartphone nearby, which is deliberate, to prevent unauthorised access. And it asks you to keep obstacles away from the connector so they do not interfere with the signal, suggesting a second press from closer in, or a 10 to 15 second wait, if the port does not open.
That is a convenience feature rather than a charging one, but it is the sort of detail that changes how the charger feels day to day, and it is the main functional difference from the J1772 versions of the same unit.
Weather rating, siting and protections
EVIQO's data sheet gives a NEMA 4 and IP66 protection level, wall-mounted installation, an operating temperature of -22°F to 131°F, storage from -40°F to 167°F, and up to 95 per cent non-condensing humidity. The FAQ repeats that the enclosure is built for rain, snow, dust and extreme temperatures.
Mounting is governed by the 25-foot output cable, give or take three per cent, and by the distance to the breaker panel or junction box, since the supplied whip is about 39 inches. EVIQO also asks you to mount the charger near the Wi-Fi router for a strong signal and to avoid surfaces that block it.
Rated input is 208 to 240 volts AC at 60 Hz. Listed input protections are undervoltage, overvoltage, a residual current device of the CCID20 type, surge protection and ground fault protection; output protections are overcurrent, over-temperature and control pilot fault protection. EVIQO recommends surge protection at the service panel where thunderstorms are frequent, and clean, tight connections at the breaker and busbar. The listing adds UL, ETL, FCC and ENERGY STAR certification as seller claims.
The app, and the mode that blocks scheduling
Control is over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in the EVIQO app: start and stop, an amperage setting from 6 to 48 amps, reminders, and energy and cost tracking with weekly and monthly breakdowns. Firmware updates arrive over the air, and a side reset button restarts the charger without opening it or switching the breaker.
The behaviour to know is that the charger ships in Plug and Charge mode, which starts a session as soon as the connector goes in, and EVIQO states Plug and Charge is mutually exclusive with Schedules and Delayed Start. To charge only in off-peak hours, turn Plug and Charge off first.
Scheduling uses Electricity Plans entered in the app, which can be copied into Schedules so sessions land in cheaper tariff windows, and there is a one-time Delayed Start with a preset amperage. EVIQO also notes that a car's cabin preconditioning period must fall inside the app's charging window. Neither document describes dynamic load management or sharing a circuit between two chargers.
Three years, parts exchange, and what is excluded
EVIQO's limited warranty runs three years from the original purchase date, to the original purchaser, for residential use in the USA and Canada, non-transferable, and conditional on normal operating conditions plus following the installation guide and EVIQO's website recommendations. EVIQO repairs or replaces at its discretion and may supply remanufactured, reconditioned or refurbished parts or stations, covered for the remainder of the original period.
The warranty includes parts and factory labour but excludes on-site labour to uninstall or reinstall the unit, and EVIQO states the cost of shipping the charger to its designated address is not included. Out-of-warranty units are returned, with repair available at standard charges at your expense.
Exclusions cover improper installation, improper site preparation or the wrong location, unauthorised modification or disassembly, accidents, misuse, vandalism, negligence and vehicle strikes, failure to comply with federal or local law including the NEC, power surges and voltage fluctuations, extreme temperatures, humidity, floods and corrosive substances, unauthorised repairs, normal wear and cosmetic damage, and damage from third-party parts or software EVIQO has not approved in writing. The warranty also lapses if serial numbers, trademarks or safety markings are damaged, altered or removed. EVIQO's FAQ separately claims eligibility for a federal tax credit and a list of utility rebates; confirm any of that with your own utility and tax adviser.
