Autel MaxiCharger Maxi US AC LW12 Level 2 EV Charger
Hardwired home installs that want the full 12 kW and shared-circuit options
This is the 12 kW, 50 amp member of Autel's MaxiCharger family, identified by the part number Maxi US AC LW12 in its own manual. The 50 amp setting is hardwire only, so a licensed electrician and the right circuit are part of the purchase. Status is shown on four LEDs rather than a screen, with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and RS485, an RFID reader and a dynamic load balancing state for adding a second charger.

Which unit this actually is
The listing gives the manufacturer part number as Maxi US AC LW12, and the manual supplied with it lists exactly that code at the top of its model table, alongside the NEMA plug variants ending in N14 and N6. The manual itself is titled for the MaxiCharger AC Lite and covers the whole family, so the code rather than the marketing name is what identifies your unit.
One thing to check before you order. Autel's own United States store currently sells a hardwired 50 amp home charger under the name MaxiCharger AC Elite Home 50A, and we did not find the LW12 code on that page. We are not treating the two names as interchangeable; compare the part number on the box and the product label against the manual's model list.
Autel's downloads page for the United States lists installation and operation manuals under the AC Elite Home name and points them at Autel's EV Academy, and the string LW12 does not appear there either. The manual supplied on the listing is therefore the only document we read that names this part number.
Output tiers, and why fifty amps means hardwired
The specification table sets three output tiers for this family: a maximum of 7.6 kW on the 32 amp model, 9.6 kW on the 40 amp model and 12 kW on the 50 amp model at 240 volts. The listing sells this one as the 12 kW, 50 amp version, and the input rating covers 208 or 240 volts at 60 hertz, single phase.
The manual's own positioning table makes the practical limit clear. A 40 amp maximum load is offered as either a NEMA plug-in or a hardwired installation, but the 50 amp maximum load row is marked hardwire only, with no plug-in option. The circuit rating needed is higher than the load in every row, and the manual also notes that in Canada a NEMA plug-in installation is only allowed on a 50 amp circuit.
Range figures come from the same table rather than from us: it gives up to 38 miles per hour at a 40 amp load and up to 45 miles per hour at a 50 amp load. The listing instead advertises 37 miles per charging hour at 50 amps. Breaker and wire sizing are not repeated here; those belong to the manual and to the licensed electrician doing the work.
Installation is an electrician's job, not a weekend project
The manual's first safety warning is unambiguous: this equipment should only be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with all local codes and ordinances, and it must be grounded through a permanent wiring system or an equipment-grounding conductor. Budget for that work alongside the charger itself.
Several other conditions are absolute. The manual says not to use the device with an extension cord because of fire and shock risk, not to install or use it near flammable, explosive, harsh or combustible materials, chemicals or vapours, and not to remove the cover or open the enclosure because there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Placement decisions belong to the manual's installation section. The unpacking list covers the charging station, the wall dock, M6 and M5 screws, wall anchors, a bottom-entry power conduit plug, a quick reference guide, amperage labels and T10 and T25 Torx screwdrivers, and the manual says that list does not necessarily include every tool the job needs.
The figures that do not line up
Cable length is given as 24.6 feet, or 7.5 metres, in the manual's specification table, while the listing advertises a 25-foot cable and the maker's store page for its hardwired 50 amp home charger also says 25 feet. The difference is small but it is the kind of thing worth measuring against the distance from your panel to where the car parks.
Weight and enclosure rating also differ. The manual gives 15 pounds and a NEMA 4X enclosure rated for indoor or outdoor installation, while the listing's table says 18.16 pounds and NEMA 4. Its dimensions are given in the manual as 13 by 7 by 3 inches, and the operating temperature range as minus 40 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit.
One listing field is simply wrong for this product. Its connector field reads MagSafe, while the manual's specification table gives the connector type as SAE J1772 and the maker's store page describes a universal J1772 charging cable. Read the manual and the product label, not that field.
Protection, compliance and the warranty term
The manual lists ground fault detection at 20 milliamps with auto retry, and protection against overcurrent, overvoltage and undervoltage plus integrated surge protection. It also carries the standard notice that an automatic reset feature is provided, and states that the device is only for vehicles that do not require ventilation while charging.
On compliance it names NEC Article 625 and a list of UL and CSA standards, plus FCC Part 15 Class B and OpenADR2.0 B. The listing separately describes the unit as CSA certified and eligible for a federal rebate program; check current eligibility yourself rather than relying on a product listing for tax or rebate questions.
Warranty is stated as three years in the manual's specification table, which matches the listing's warranty field and its bullet copy. Neither the manual pages we read nor the store page sets out a claims procedure, so keep the receipt and the installer's paperwork and ask Autel what applies before you need it.
