Which RIVER 3 this is: model EFR705, 245Wh

EcoFlow's RIVER 3 manual covers three versions: RIVER 3, RIVER 3 (230) and RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS). Its specification table prints model EFR705 for RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS), 245Wh, and EF-RV-H01-1 for the 230Wh RIVER 3 (230), so the EFR705 code alone does not tell you which transfer-time version you have.

The manual gives about 3.5 kilograms or 7.72 pounds and roughly 255 by 212 by 113 millimetres, or 10.04 by 8.35 by 4.45 inches. It notes its illustrations use the US version. EcoFlow's US series page describes RIVER 3 (245Wh) in its copy but shows tabs only for Plus, Max and Max Plus, and the US download center lists no base RIVER 3 manual, although EcoFlow's manual server hosts it.

300W AC, 600W with X-Boost, and the 550W total

The manual lists AC output as pure sine wave, 120V and 300W total for the US, with a separate total-output line of 550W across all ports. EcoFlow's series page says the RIVER 3 is a 300W power station with X-Boost to 600W, and the Amazon title's 550W matches the manual's total, not the AC rating.

X-Boost is on by default and powers devices rated up to 600W without tripping overload protection. The manual says it suits heating and motor-driven devices, is unavailable in bypass mode and does not support devices with voltage protection. Other ports are USB-C at up to 100W, USB-A at 12W per port and 24W total, and a 12.6V, 126W cigarette-lighter socket.

Charging: 320W from a US outlet, 110W from solar

The manual gives 320W maximum AC input for the US version, from 100 to 120V at up to 6.5A, and says to plug the supplied cable straight into a wall socket rated above 10A rather than an extension socket. Our arithmetic: 245Wh divided by 320W is about 46 minutes before losses, against the one-hour charge EcoFlow's series page claims for the RIVER 3 Series.

Solar input is 11 to 30V, 8A and 110W at most, and the manual says the panel's output voltage must stay below 30V. Its solar-to-XT60i cable and the panel are not included. Car input is 12V or 24V at up to 8A and 100W, and the manual's box list includes a car charging cable.

EPS at 20 ms, not the 10 ms UPS in the series copy

The manual says RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 (230) have emergency power supply with a transfer time within 20ms, and RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS) has a UPS with a transfer time within 10ms. For the first two it says not to connect desktops, NAS servers, data servers or workstations, and to power one device under 300W at a time.

EcoFlow's series page advertises a switchover under 10 ms for the RIVER 3 Series as a whole, and its Power Manager UPS software lists RIVER 3 Plus among its supported devices but not the base RIVER 3. The Amazon listing bullet says under 20 ms, which matches the manual's plain RIVER 3.

AC timeout, temperatures and the six-month storage rule

The AC output turns off after an idle period, which the manual says intermittent loads such as refrigerators can trigger. For food or medicine storage it says to set the AC timeout to never in the EcoFlow app and check the battery level regularly. It states the unit is not meant to power life-sustaining medical equipment.

The manual rates charging from 32°F to 113°F, discharging from 14°F to 113°F, and storage from 14°F to 113°F with 68°F to 86°F optimal, at up to 2,000 metres altitude. For storage, EcoFlow's current online manual says to fully charge the unit and then discharge it to 60 percent once every three months, while the September 2024 PDF manual says to discharge it to 0 percent and then charge it to 60 percent; EcoFlow's manual notice says the online version carries the latest updates.

Both say the warranty does not cover a unit that has not been charged or discharged for more than six months. It also says not to carry the unit onto a plane. EcoFlow's US warranty table (updated October 20, 2025) lists 24 months for the RIVER 3, against five years for the RIVER 3 Plus, and covers units bought directly from EcoFlow or an authorized seller.

Box contents, water rating and other source conflicts

The sources disagree on the box. The manual lists the power station, an AC cable, a car charging cable and the manuals with a warranty card, while EcoFlow's series page and the Amazon listing name only the AC cable and a quick start guide with warranty. Confirm whether a car cable is included before counting on car charging.

EcoFlow's series page claims an IP54 battery pack and says the rating covers only the battery pack, not the whole unit, and that it does not allow immersion. The manual's safety instructions say not to get the product wet or immerse it in any liquid and to protect it with a waterproof bag in wet places, while the Amazon bullets call the RIVER 3 waterproof. EcoFlow's series page gives under 30 dB at 1.6 feet, where the Amazon listing says 1.5 feet, and says the extra-battery expansion is for the RIVER 3 Plus. The manual gives 80 percent health after 3,000 cycles at 0.5C and 77°F.
