Which RIVER 2 this is: 256Wh, model EFR600

EcoFlow's US manual lists model EFR600 as the 256Wh RIVER 2 and model EFR603 as the RIVER 2 240, a 243Wh unit that shares the same manual. EcoFlow's product page also shows a RIVER 2 (240) in its series row, so confirm the 256Wh model before ordering.

The manual gives 245 by 215 by 145 millimetres, or 9.6 by 8.5 by 5.7 inches, and about 3.5 kilograms or 7.8 pounds. EcoFlow's page says 7.7 pounds, so treat weight as rounded. The US manual's box list names the power station, an AC charging cable and the manuals with a warranty card.

300W continuous, 600W peak, and what X-Boost adds

The manual rates AC output as pure sine wave, 300W total with a 600W peak, at 120V for the US version. EcoFlow's page lists 300W output with X-Boost up to 600W. The Amazon listing bullets say up to 600W across six appliances, but the manual's rating is 300W in total, so add up your loads against that figure.

X-Boost lets the AC outlet run devices rated up to 600W without tripping overload protection, and the manual calls it suitable for heating and motor-driven devices. It does not suit appliances with voltage protection, and the manual says to test your own device. Other outputs are USB-C at 60W, USB-A at 12W per port and a 12.6V, 100W cigarette-lighter socket.

Charging: 360W from the wall, 110W from solar

EcoFlow says the RIVER 2 charges from 0 to 100 percent in about an hour on AC, and the manual quotes 360W maximum X-Stream input. Our arithmetic: 256Wh divided by 360W is about 43 minutes before any conversion loss, so EcoFlow's one-hour figure leaves room for losses. The manual says to plug the supplied cable straight into a wall socket rated above 10A, not an extension socket.

Solar input is 11 to 30V, 8A and 110W at most. The manual gives 3 to 6 hours for a full charge and says the panel's output voltage must stay under 30V, while EcoFlow's page says as fast as 3 hours in lab conditions and the Amazon listing says 2.3 hours. The manual's box list has no solar or car cable, and it says the USB-C cable and adapter are not included.

EPS at 30 ms is not a 0 ms UPS

With wall power connected to the AC input and devices on the AC output, the manual says the RIVER 2 switches to battery within 30ms in a blackout. It calls this a basic UPS feature that does not support 0ms switching and says not to connect data servers or workstations. EcoFlow recommends powering one device under 600W at a time.

While wall power is present the outlets pass grid power through in bypass mode, so the battery is not carrying the load until an outage. For refrigerators the manual warns the AC output may shut down automatically and advises setting it to Never Turn Off in the EcoFlow app. It does not recommend the unit for medical emergency equipment; read its medical paragraph before relying on it.

Temperature limits and the six-month storage condition

The manual rates discharging from 14°F to 113°F, charging from 32°F to 113°F and storage from 14°F to 113°F, with 68°F to 86°F as the optimal storage range. It says not to store the unit above 113°F or below 14°F for a long time, and to keep it away from rain and liquids.

For long-term storage the manual says to discharge the unit to 0 percent and recharge it to 60 percent every three months. It states the warranty does not cover a unit that has not been charged or discharged for more than six months, a date worth putting on a calendar. The manual also says not to take the unit on a plane.

Battery, app and where the sources disagree

The battery is LFP, and the manual states 80 percent or more capacity remains after 3,000 cycles. EcoFlow's page adds a five-year warranty and a footnote that six full cycles a week would take 9.6 years to reach 80 percent, and EcoFlow's US warranty policy (updated October 20, 2025) lists five years for the RIVER 2 and covers units bought directly from EcoFlow or an authorized seller. The manual lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the EcoFlow app.

The sources differ in three places. Weight is 7.7 pounds on the page and 7.8 in the manual. Solar time is 3 hours on the page, 3 to 6 hours in the manual and 2.3 hours in the listing. EcoFlow's 2023 global manual lists a car charging cable in the box while the US manual does not, so check the box contents on arrival.
