ENGWE L20 2.0 Folding Step-Through Fat-Tire Electric Bike

The L20 2.0 is ENGWE's folding step-through bike on 20 by 3.0 inch tyres with a 6061 aluminium frame, a 750W rated rear hub motor with 1125W peak and 75 Nm of torque, a Shimano seven-speed drivetrain, mechanical disc brakes on 180 mm rotors, a front fork plus seatpost suspension system and a brake light. It folds to about 40.1 by 17.7 by 31.5 inches.

ENGWE's box list is the bike, a 52V 13Ah battery, charger, assembly toolkit, front light, rear rack, two fenders, two pedals and an English manual. The listing notes that the L20 2.0 does not include a front basket or a shock-absorbing seat post, although ENGWE's page says the orange version has a shock-absorbing seatpost.

The Amazon listing's default selection is a two-bike combo in green. Check the option you choose before ordering. The manual describes the bike as designed for urban commuting on paved roads, flat gravel roads and small roads with moderate slopes, and rates the rear rack for 25 kg.

A TÜV Rheinland UL 2849 certificate names the L20 2.0

ENGWE links a TÜV Rheinland of North America certificate, number CU 72605343 0004, dated 1 July 2026, issued to Shenzhen Zhiqu Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd under ANSI/CAN/UL 2849:2022A. It certifies the electric system for an electric bike with model designation L20 2.0, a 52V 13Ah 676Wh battery, a 58.8V 2A charger, a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph and a maximum load of 264 pounds.

ENGWE's FAQ text describes the link as TÜV's certification for the L20 3.0, but the document it opens names the L20 2.0. The certificate's load figure matches the 264 pounds on ENGWE's page and in the manual. Its 20 mph assisted speed does not match the 28 mph that ENGWE and the listing advertise with pedal assist.

The listing adds a GCC mention alongside its UL 2849 claim. If you need proof for a landlord or insurer, the certificate number above is the document to cite; note that it names the certified product as the electric system for an electric bike.

Speed settings and range by riding style

ENGWE's page gives 20 mph on the throttle and 28 mph with pedal assist, and the manual's specification table gives a maximum of 28 mph. ENGWE's FAQ links videos for setting the speed limit to 25 km/h and for raising it to 45 km/h. No source we read assigns a US e-bike class, so check your local rules and set the limit accordingly.

Range is 68 miles at pedal-assist level 1 and 28 miles at full speed on ENGWE's specification table, so riding at top speed cuts the claimed range by more than half. The listing gives 68 miles with pedal assist and 28 miles on electric alone.

The battery is a removable 52V 13Ah pack, which the certificate lists at 676Wh. ENGWE's page gives a charging time of about 6.5 hours with the 58.8V 2A charger, while the listing says five to six hours. ENGWE sells a 52V 16Ah alternative battery separately.

Fit: check the 35.4-inch minimum saddle height

ENGWE recommends riders from 5 foot 0 to 6 foot 0, or 155 to 185 cm, while Amazon's minimum user height field says 162 cm. ENGWE's geometry gives a 14.9-inch standover, a minimum saddle height of 35.4 inches and a maximum of 40.55 inches, with a stated tolerance of up to 1.9 inches between measured and actual figures.

The low standover makes mounting easy, but the 35.4-inch minimum saddle height decides whether shorter riders can reach the ground while seated. If you are near 5 foot 0, compare your inseam with that figure before ordering.

The maximum load is 264 pounds, or 120 kg, on ENGWE's page, in the manual and on the certificate; Amazon says 265 pounds. The bike weighs 68.3 pounds on ENGWE's page and 68.2 pounds in the manual, with a gross shipping weight of 84.6 pounds.

Rain, water and care from the manual

The manual's preface says the bike can be ridden in rainy and snowy weather at reduced speed, but asks riders to avoid water deeper than the centre of the motor and not to wash the bike directly with water, wiping it with a cloth instead. It also says to use only the matching battery and original charger and not to touch the battery electrodes.

ENGWE's warranty excludes water damage, so treat the rain allowance as permission for occasional wet roads rather than for puddles or hosing down.

Warranty: 12 months on core parts, less on others

ENGWE's US warranty page gives 12 months on the frame, fork, handlebars, folding and saddle tubes, controller, charger, display, brakes and levers, throttle, sensors, motor, motor hall and bearings, and battery. It gives six months on lights, kickstand, fenders, rack, pedals, drivetrain parts and hubs, three months on saddle, plastic parts, rotors, pads and cable, and one month on tyres.

A battery with capacity below 60 percent is replaced, and the replacement keeps the original warranty end date. Second-hand and modified bikes are not covered, you must get written approval before returning anything, and claims start with photos or video sent to [email protected].

ENGWE's page header advertises a one-to-two-year warranty; the Amazon warranty field says one year. Keep your order number and the platform of purchase, since ENGWE asks for both when you make a claim.
