Eskute D200 Folding Step-Through Electric Bike

A folding step-through on 20 by 3 inch tyres

The D200 is Eskute's folding step-through bike on 20 by 3.0 inch puncture-resistant tyres, with a carbon-steel frame according to its manual, a lockout suspension fork with 60 mm of travel, a Shimano seven-speed drivetrain, mechanical disc brakes, an LCD display and a twist throttle. Eskute says it folds in four steps in about 15 seconds to 33.4 by 33.2 inches.

The manual's box list is the frame with rear wheel, the front wheel, a fender, pedals, the saddle, a tool set, the charger, four spare screws and the manual; Eskute's page lists the bike, manual, a key, charger and toolkit. The listing's bullets and table add a front basket and fenders, which neither Eskute box list names, so check which bundle this listing ships.

Eskute's page gives a total length of 63 inches, a 45.3-inch wheelbase, a 46.1-inch handlebar height and a minimum seat height of 29.1 inches. The package is 54.94 by 8.94 by 26.18 inches.

Maximum load: 265, 350 or 400 pounds

This is the figure to settle first. The specification table in Eskute's D200 manual gives a load capacity of 120 kg, or 265 pounds. Amazon's maximum weight field says 350 pounds. Eskute's product page says a 400-pound maximum payload in several places. We report all three and do not choose.

Until Eskute confirms otherwise in writing, plan around the manual's 265 pounds, and remember that it has to cover the rider plus anything on the rack. Eskute's page separately rates the rear rack for 120 pounds, so add rack cargo to your own weight when comparing against the manual's figure.

The bike itself weighs 70.5 pounds, or 32 kg, in both the manual and Eskute's specification table. Folding makes it shorter, not lighter, so lifting it into a car boot is still a 70-pound job.

Battery size and charging time differ by source

Eskute's product page and the manual both give a 48V 10.4Ah battery with a 54.6V 1.5A charger. The Amazon title says 48V 13Ah and Amazon's energy field says 1200Wh, and Eskute's own spare-battery listing is a 13Ah pack for D200 and other models. Ask the seller which battery ships in this listing.

Charging time is four to six hours on Eskute's product page and seven to eight hours in the manual's specification table. Plan on the manual's longer figure until Eskute confirms the shorter one. Eskute says the battery is removable with a quick-release design and rated IP65, and mentions TUV certification for the battery.

Range is given as up to 55 miles. Eskute's FAQ says that figure applies under ideal conditions, so plan on less for hills, headwinds, heavy loads or higher assist levels.

Class 3 and 28 mph, with an assist-level mismatch

Eskute's specification table labels the D200 an e-bike Class 3, and both the product page and the manual give a top speed of up to 28 mph. The Amazon title says 20-plus mph. Eskute describes a 1200W peak motor with 65 Nm of torque; neither source we read gives a continuous rating.

Eskute's page describes a five-level pedal-assist system reaching 28 mph at level 5, while an Amazon bullet says three assist levels. Check your local rules for Class 3 bikes before choosing this model for a shared-path commute, and ask Eskute how many assist levels the current version has.

The bike carries an IP54 rating on Eskute's specification table. Neither Eskute document we read names a UL 2849 or UL 2271 certificate for the D200, so this guide cannot confirm either; ask Eskute if you need proof for a building or insurer.

Rider fit and the standover confusion

The manual's specification table gives a suitable rider height of 165 to 190 cm, which it writes as 5 foot 2 to 6 foot 3. Eskute's product page says the bike fits riders from 5 foot 3 to 6 foot 5. Riders at either end should check seat height before ordering; the minimum seat height is 29.1 inches.

Standover is printed two ways on the same Eskute page. The feature copy says a 14.4-inch standover height, while the dimension table lists a standover height of 33.1 inches. Ask Eskute which figure is correct before relying on either, and measure your inseam against the 29.1-inch minimum seat height.

One-year warranty and 15-day returns

Eskute's page says all its e-bikes carry a one-year all-inclusive manufacturer's warranty for the original owner against manufacturing defects, with free accessories excluded, and offers 15-day returns. The Amazon warranty field also says one year. No full warranty document with exclusions was found, so ask Eskute for the written terms.

The manual's battery-warning page covers who should charge the battery, checking the charger before use and never opening the battery, and its moving and storage notes include applying both brakes when mounting. Read that page before the first charge; this guide does not reproduce it.
