NACS cars on a dedicated 40 A circuit, ideally with Enphase solar
A hardwired 32 A (7.7 kW) Level 2 charger with a 25-foot NACS cable, a NEMA 4 enclosure, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and a five-year limited warranty. Enphase specifies a dedicated 2-pole 40 A breaker; its load management works only with an Enphase Energy System and IQ Gateway.

A 32 A hardwired charger with a NACS plug
The IQ 40 with NACS connector, SKU IQ-EVSE-NA-1040-0101-0100, is a hardwired Level 2 charger with a maximum continuous output of 32 A, or 7.7 kW, on a 25-foot cable with a NACS connector. Enphase says a button on the handle opens the charge port of a Tesla.
In the box, per Enphase, are the charger, a wall-mounted connector holster and a user manual. The enclosure measures 19.7 by 8.9 by 5.3 inches. Enphase's store page and data sheet give 13.4 pounds; Amazon's weight field says 19.91 pounds.
For cars with a J1772 port, Enphase's data sheet says to use a NACS-to-J1772 adapter, which neither source lists as included. Enphase's range claim is up to 31 miles of range per hour, depending on the vehicle.
Circuit: a dedicated 2-pole 40 A breaker
Enphase's data sheet lists the circuit breaker requirement as a dedicated 2-pole 40 A breaker, with input of 208/240 V AC and an input range of 185 to 264 V. The charger comes pre-wired with a 3-foot service whip of 10 AWG conductors for L1, L2 and ground. The listing says the charger is easy to install with a licensed electrician and that the station requires a 40 A circuit.
Have a licensed electrician confirm that your panel can carry a dedicated 40 A circuit and whether a permit is required. Neither Enphase source we read describes adjustable current settings for this model; the output is stated as 32 A continuous.
Protections in the data sheet include an open safety-ground monitor, integral ground-fault protection with a 20 mA CCID and automatic reset, a 5,000 A short-circuit rating at 240 V and automatic resumption after a minor power fault.
Load management only with an Enphase system
The data sheet lists main-panel upgrade avoidance through dynamic power management certified to UL 3141 PCS-LC, but its footnote says this is supported only for Enphase Energy Systems with an IQ Gateway. Without that, do not count on the charger to avoid a panel upgrade.
With an Enphase Energy System, solar charging needs at least 1.92 kW, or 8 A, of excess solar to start a session and needs production and consumption CTs, according to Enphase's store page, which adds that power levels then rise and fall in 25 percent steps.
App features listed in the data sheet include scheduling, remote start and stop, self-consumption and Storm Guard. Connectivity is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with OCPP 1.6 and Enphase API support.
Outdoor rating and temperature range
The enclosure is NEMA Type 4, described as watertight, for indoor and outdoor installation. The operating range is minus 22 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit and storage minus 40 to 176 degrees, from the data sheet. It mounts on a wall or on an Enphase pedestal sold separately.
Four LEDs show status. That is a simpler status display than a screen, so the Enphase app is where you will see session detail.
Certification wording differs by source
Enphase's store page lists its certifications as cETLus and ENERGY STAR and describes third-party testing by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory. The data sheet lists compliance with NEC Article 625, SAE J1772, NACS, ENERGY STAR and safety standards UL 2594, UL 2251, UL 2231-1 and -2, UL 1998, UL 991 and the matching CSA standards, and names ETL. The listing says the charger is UL 2594 safety certified.
None of the three sources states a certificate or file number, so we cannot confirm which laboratory listed the charger to which standard. If an inspector or utility asks, request the listing number from Enphase.
Five-year limited warranty
The listing, Enphase's store page and the data sheet all state a five-year limited warranty, and Enphase advertises 24/7 customer service. We did not read the full warranty terms, so check installation and transfer conditions before buying.
