The box row names the collar device with its rechargeable lithium-ion battery, a 3/4 inch red collar strap, an 18.5 inch standard antenna, a charging cable, an AC adapter, a vehicle power cable, a contact point set with wrench and a manual. No handheld receiver is listed.
The collar reports its position by VHF radio to a Garmin handheld. The listing names compatible handhelds including the Alpha 100, Alpha 200i and Astro 320 and 430, and its description says the Astro 320 works for tracking only, with training functions activated from the Alpha 100. Check that you already own, or will buy, one of these.
Neither the manual pages we read nor the listing describes a cellular connection or a subscription. The manual describes the collar talking to the handheld by radio, and its own advice on signal is about line of sight and elevation, covered below.

The Owner's Manual's TT 15 mini specification gives a VHF radio range of up to 6.44 kilometres, or 4 miles. The same manual gives the standard TT 15 collar a range of up to 9 miles. The listing's description says the device can run up to 9 miles away.
The 9-mile figure in the listing's description matches the manual's range for the standard TT 15, not the figure the same manual gives for the mini, and the listing does not explain it. The manual states 4 miles for the mini as an up-to figure; confirm the range with Garmin if distance matters to you.
The manual says the handheld and collar communicate most reliably with an unobstructed line of sight between them, and suggests moving to the highest point in your area, such as a hilltop, to improve the signal.
Sized for small dogs
The listing says the mini is designed for smaller breeds with a neck circumference as small as 9.5 inches, and that it weighs 7.5 ounces against 10.0 ounces for the standard TT 15 dog device. It uses 3/4 inch polyurethane-coated nylon collar straps, with other colours sold separately.
The listing's description has a line saying TT 15 units sold separately ship with a 1-inch red strap, while the box row for this listing says a 3/4 inch red strap. Check the strap width on arrival if you plan to swap in straps you already have.
The listing says the mini comes with long and short removable stainless steel contact points. The manual says to choose the longer points for thicker coats and the shorter ones for shorter coats, and to remove the contact points when you are not training with the training keys.
Battery life and sleep mode
The manual gives the TT 15 mini a rechargeable, replaceable lithium-ion battery with 16 to 30 hours of typical use, and the listing repeats 16 to 30 hours. The manual lists a separate, longer figure for the standard TT 15 collar.
The manual describes a collar sleep mode for the mini. It says that when the collar is connected to an Alpha handheld, it can be put to sleep to conserve battery while you are not actively tracking, and woken again from the handheld; you must be tracking the dog before sleep mode can be turned on.
For long breaks, the manual says to charge the collar to about 50 percent and store it somewhere cool and dry, then recharge it fully before use. It also recommends longer collar update rates to conserve battery.
Weather, temperatures and care
The manual rates the mini at 1 ATM, which it describes as withstanding pressure equivalent to a depth of 10 metres, and the listing's description says water resistant to 10 metres. The operating range is minus 20 to 60 degrees Celsius, or minus 4 to 140 Fahrenheit.
Charging has a narrower range than operation: 5 to 40 degrees Celsius, or 41 to 104 Fahrenheit, for the mini, according to the same specification table in the manual.
Collar software is updated separately from the handheld, using Garmin's WebUpdater according to the manual. The manual's device-care notes warn that sweat or moisture on the contacts while charging can cause corrosion, and advise wiping the device dry.
Training features, and what to read first
The listing describes 18 levels of continuous and momentary stimulation plus tone and vibration, activated from the Alpha 100. The manual defines momentary and continuous stimulation and gives continuous stimulation a maximum of 8 seconds.
We do not summarise how to train with stimulation. The manual has its own training guidance and warnings, and Garmin's support page lists a separate Important Safety and Product Information document; read both before fitting the collar.
Garmin's support page for 010-01486-00 lists an Owner's Manual dated June 2020 and a web Owner's Manual dated August 2017. We read neither; the manual supplied with this listing is dated July 2015, so check the newer editions for anything that has changed.
