What the Vital 100S-P is
The Vital 100S-P, model LAP-V102S-WUS, is a Levoit purifier with Wi-Fi and app control. The manual lists the package contents and describes the filters, and Levoit's product page lists replacement filters for it, so the parts you need are named by the maker.
The manual says the main filter traps at least 99.97 per cent of 0.3-micron particles, and its maintenance schedule includes a separate pre-filter cleaned every two to four weeks. Levoit lists the unit at 12.6 by 6.3 by 16.0 inches and 8.6 pounds, matching the manual's figures.
Room size: 222 square feet verified at 4.8 changes
The Amazon bullets say the 100S-P cleans the air 4.8 times an hour in rooms up to 222 square feet and once an hour up to 1,073 square feet. Levoit's product page gives 222 and 1,066 square feet with a CADR of 143 CFM; the Amazon table breaks CADR into smoke 143, dust 161 and pollen 173.
The manual's troubleshooting table says purification will take longer in rooms larger than 219 square feet. Taken together, plan on a bedroom or small living room around 220 square feet for frequent air changes, and treat the thousand-plus figure as one slow pass per hour.
Placement and power figures
The manual asks for at least 15 inches of clearance in front of the purifier and nothing blocking the front, sides or top. It also says not to use it outdoors, to keep it away from humidifiers, and to keep it at least five feet from where oxygen is being administered.
The two maker documents disagree on power. The manual's specification table lists a 24-volt, 2.0-amp supply and 42 watts rated power, matching the Amazon listing; Levoit's product page lists 24 volts, 1.5 amps and 35 watts. Operating range is 14 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and up to 85 per cent relative humidity.
Filter life: nine months or nine to twelve
The manual's maintenance table says to replace the main filter approximately every 9 to 12 months, while the text on the next page says approximately every 9 months. The Check Filter light is a reminder that comes on after about nine months; the app's estimate assumes 12 hours a day.
Levoit sells several replacement options on its product page, including a standard Vital 100S replacement filter and pet allergy, smoke remover and toxin absorber versions. Which one suits you depends on the problem in the room, so check the filter type before ordering.
Cleaning, sensor and modes
Clean the pre-filter every two to four weeks and clean the dust sensor lens about every two months, per the manual's schedule. The manual also warns against humidity and essential oils around the unit, so keep it away from diffusers and damp rooms.
Auto mode never uses turbo. Pet mode cycles 15 minutes on high and 60 on medium. With light detection on in a dark room, auto and pet modes are limited to lower speeds. A sleep mode is also listed, and an ENERGY STAR note appears in the manual.
Two-year warranty with conditions
The warranty sheet supplied with the listing and the manual's warranty pages both give two years, with Arovast named as the warrantor. Levoit's product page also shows a two-year limited warranty, so the three documents agree on the length.
