Medify's MA-40 uses a one-piece pre-filter, HEPA and carbon cartridge with three speeds, sleep mode, a timer, child lock and a switchable ionizer. Medify's documents disagree on CADR, wattage, filter life and clearance, and the listing attaches the MA-40UV manual. Register within 30 days for the lifetime warranty.

Three Medify documents describe different MA-40s
Medify's product page sells the MA-40 as SKU MA-40-W1 for a single white unit. The Amazon listing gives model number MA-112-W1 and part number MA-40, and the PDF attached to it is the manual for the MA-40UV, which has a UV lamp, an ionizer and a filter labelled True HEPA H14. The manual linked from Medify's page is for the MA-40 V3.0, with a True HEPA H13 and carbon filter.
Because the listing does not say which version ships, check the rating label and the manual in the box. The practical differences below, especially clearance, filter life and warranty registration, depend on which document matches your unit.
Room size and CADR: pick the verified figure
Medify's page says the MA-40 is AHAM Verifide for 373 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour, and the V3.0 manual says 377 square feet. The Amazon listing gives 896 square feet every 30 minutes and 1,793 an hour; the MA-40UV manual instead lists 1,600 square feet an hour and 840 every 30 minutes.
CADR figures also differ. Medify's page gives a smoke CADR of 239 CFM, which it also expresses as 406 cubic metres per hour; the Amazon bullet calls this CADR 406 without units. The V3.0 manual lists smoke 241, pollen 332, dust 287 and PM2.5 263 CFM. Use roughly 375 square feet for frequent air changes.
Clearance: 10 inches or 20 inches
The V3.0 manual asks for at least 20 inches between the air inlet on the back and any wall or furniture. The MA-40UV manual attached to the listing asks for at least 10 inches. Which figure applies depends on which version you receive.
Plan for the larger 20-inch gap unless your in-box manual says otherwise. Medify lists the unit at 22 inches high, 9.9 wide and 10.9 deep. Weight is 15.5 pounds in both manuals, 17.5 on Medify's page and 15 on Amazon.
Filter life and running costs
The V3.0 manual describes an H13 HEPA and carbon filter. It says to replace it every 2,500 hours of use. Medify's page says 3,000 hours, or four to five months; the Amazon listing says 3,000 hours or about six months, so expect two or three filters a year.
The V3.0 manual asks you to clean the unit every six to eight weeks and recommends protective equipment when cleaning and changing filters. Power figures vary too: 85 watts in the V3.0 manual, 68 on Medify's page and 95 on Amazon.
Controls, ionizer and ozone statements
The V3.0 manual lists three fan speeds plus a sleep mode, a timer, a child lock and an ionizer button. Neither manual we read describes an auto mode or an air-quality sensor, so you set the speed yourself.
Medify's page says models with ionizers are verified as producing zero ozone, a maker claim we do not verify, and the Amazon listing mentions CARB and ETL. Medify's page lists the ionizer as optional. The MA-40UV version adds a UV function that runs for 20 minutes.
Limited lifetime warranty depends on early registration
The V3.0 manual's limited lifetime warranty requires registration on Medify's website within 30 days of purchase and is not transferable. The full conditions are in the manual, so read them before relying on the lifetime term.
The older MA-40UV manual allowed 90 days to register. Register immediately rather than relying on the longer window, and keep proof of purchase. The Amazon warranty field describes a lifetime warranty without giving the registration condition.
