TP-Link Archer GXE75 AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Gaming Router

This is one router, not a mesh kit

The Archer GXE75 is a single Wi-Fi 6E gaming router. The listing's tables say unit count one and number of packs one, and its included-components field lists one router, one power adapter, one Quick Installation Guide, one RJ45 Ethernet cable and one reset tool; TP-Link's datasheet gives the same package list. Model number and manufacturer part number are Archer GXE75, UPC 840030703515, colour Black, item weight 2.23 pounds.

TP-Link's specifications tab lists the GXE75 as EasyMesh-compatible, its datasheet says EasyMesh is supported, and the listing's bullets name EasyMesh. Nothing in the box forms a mesh on its own; any mesh extension would be a separately bought EasyMesh device.

TP-Link's EasyMesh footnote says failed connections may be due to firmware conflicts between different vendors, and that the EasyMesh-compatible function is still being developed on some models.

The port set, and what runs at what speed

TP-Link's hardware block and its datasheet list five Ethernet sockets: one 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN, one 1 Gbps WAN/LAN and three 1 Gbps LAN. The listing describes them as a 2.5G WAN port plus four 1G LAN ports. Only one socket runs above a gigabit, and TP-Link's footnote says 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require a compatible service plan.

There is also one USB 3.0 port. TP-Link lists supported partition formats as NTFS, exFAT, HFS+ and FAT32, and supported functions as FTP server, media server and Samba server. The datasheet lists buttons for power, reset, WPS/Wi-Fi and LED.

AXE5400 across three bands, and the 160 MHz condition

TP-Link's specifications tab and datasheet split AXE5400 as 2402 Mbps on 6 GHz, 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with the tab labelling all three 802.11ax, and the overview page adds six streams, 1024-QAM and 160 MHz channels.

TP-Link's footnote says Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E features including OFDMA, 1024-QAM and HE160 require clients that support them, and that not all seven 160 MHz channels may be available in the 6 GHz band in some regions or countries.

On the hardware side TP-Link's overview page describes four optimally positioned antennas with beamforming and proprietary Wi-Fi optimisation, a quad-core CPU, a vent, upper and lower heatsinks and a 2 cm stand. The listing's antenna field and the datasheet both say four antennas.

The Game Center tools

TP-Link's software block lists a Game Center with four parts. The first is game acceleration, which covers QoS for game applications, a designated gaming port for game devices, and game-server acceleration by GPN.

The second is a game panel that shows network status, router performance, RGB settings and the games and gear being accelerated. The third is game statistics, described as gaming traffic reports, and the fourth is a dedicated 5 GHz gaming band.

The overview page also describes game port forwarding and customisable RGB lighting. Management is through TP-Link's Tether app or a web page, and the listing's bullets describe setup through the Tether app.

Security, VPN and HomeShield

Wi-Fi encryption is listed as WPA, WPA2, WPA3 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x, and the listing's security-protocol field lists the same set. Network security adds an SPI firewall, access control, IP and MAC binding and an application layer gateway.

OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP and WireGuard appear as both VPN server and VPN client on the specifications tab, and the datasheet also lists VPN including WireGuard. There are guest networks on all three bands, and the advanced-features row lists an IoT network.

TP-Link's HomeShield footnote for this model says HomeShield includes both basic and advanced features and that advanced features require a paid subscription. The specifications tab lists HomeShield's security set and its parental controls under that heading.

Size, test data and the warranty

TP-Link's product page and specifications tab give no coverage figure in square feet and no maximum device count for the Archer GXE75, and the listing's coverage field reads wide coverage area. The datasheet gives the size as 9.3 x 5.1 x 7.6 inches (237 x 129.5 x 193 mm).

The datasheet lists FCC, CE and RoHS certification and an operating range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius at 10 to 90 percent non-condensing humidity. It gives transmit power of 30 dBm or less on each band under FCC rules, with separate CE figures.

On warranty, the listing field says 2 Year Manufacturer. The TP-Link documents recorded for this guide give no warranty term, so confirm the period and claim procedure on TP-Link's support site before relying on the listing field.
