Which kit this is, and coverage figures that agree

The listing's tables give the model name, model number and manufacturer part number as Deco X15(3-Pack), UPC 810142820981, unit count three and item weight 2.62 pounds. TP-Link's page is headed Deco X15, and TP-Link's datasheet is titled AX1500 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System, Deco X15.

The listing says cover up to 5,600 sq. ft. for 120 devices. TP-Link's overview page carries a note that coverage varies from 5,600 ft2 for a 3-pack to 3,900 ft2 for a 2-pack and 2,100 ft2 for a 1-pack, and the overview page and the datasheet both give up to 120 devices.

TP-Link's specifications tab rates range by bedroom count as well: 1-2 bedroom houses for a 1-pack, 2-4 bedroom houses for a 2-pack and 3-5 bedroom houses for a 3-pack. TP-Link's footnote says throughput, coverage and device quantity are not guaranteed.

The 2.4 GHz band is not Wi-Fi 6 on this model

AX1500 splits as 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and the listing bullet, TP-Link's pages and the datasheet give the same two numbers. TP-Link's standards line reads 802.11ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz but 802.11n/b/g on 2.4 GHz, with the 300 Mbps figure labelled 802.11n, and the datasheet lists the same standards.

So TP-Link's documents list Wi-Fi 6 on the 5 GHz band only, and devices that join on 2.4 GHz connect to a band listed as 802.11n. The overview page's footnotes add that Wi-Fi 6 features need clients that support them, and that this Deco may not support all mandatory 802.11ax features.

The capacity block lists Dual-Band, 2x2 MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 4 Streams, and rates Wi-Fi capacity as High. The specifications tab and the datasheet both give two internal antennas, the tab adds beamforming, and the overview page names 1024-QAM and BSS Coloring.

Two gigabit ports per unit and nothing faster

TP-Link's specifications tab and datasheet list two Gigabit ports per Deco unit with WAN/LAN auto-sensing, and the listing bullet says the same, adding that a 3-pack gives six in total and supports wired Ethernet backhaul. TP-Link lists no port faster than a gigabit, and the specifications tab has no USB row.

One listing field disagrees with TP-Link. The listing's number-of-ports field says three, while TP-Link's hardware block and the datasheet say two Gigabit ports per unit. The specifications tab's buttons row lists a reset button only, and the datasheet names one reset button on the underside.

HomeShield and VPN: the spec tab and the datasheet differ

The security block on the Deco X15 specifications tab lists an SPI firewall, access control, a guest network on 5 GHz and on 2.4 GHz, and WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal and WPA3-Personal encryption. It has no HomeShield Security block and no VPN server or VPN client rows.

The listing's last bullet advertises TP-Link HomeShield and names free features including basic network security with a security scan and IoT device identification, basic parental controls, quality of service and basic weekly and monthly reports. A HomeShield footnote on TP-Link's pages says the free Basic plan is included and fees apply for the Pro plan.

TP-Link's X15 datasheet does list HomeShield for this model, naming Network Protection, Parental Controls, Quality of Service and Comprehensive Reports, with the Free Basic Plan included and fees for the Pro Plan. The specifications tab still lists neither HomeShield nor VPN, so confirm with TP-Link if either decides your purchase.

Size, power and the numbers TP-Link publishes

Each unit is 4.33 x 4.33 x 4.49 in (110 x 110 x 114 mm) on both the specifications tab and the datasheet. The datasheet gives a maximum power draw of 11.5 W with the adapter, and a 12 V 1 A adapter.

TP-Link's test-data block gives Wi-Fi transmission power as under 20 dBm on 2.4 GHz and under 30 dBm on 5 GHz under CE rules, and under 30 dBm on both bands under FCC rules. The specifications tab lists CE, FCC, RoHS, JPA, JRF, VCCI, NCC and BSMI certification; the US datasheet lists FCC and RoHS.

System requirements are stated as Android 5.0 or later and iOS 9.0 or later. Environment limits are operating temperature 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, storage minus 40 to 60 Celsius, and humidity of 10 to 90 percent operating and 5 to 90 percent storage, non-condensing.

What ships and the warranty question

TP-Link's package-content block for the 3-pack lists three Deco X15 units, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, three power adapters and a Quick Installation Guide, and the listing's included-components field lists the same four things. TP-Link says the X15 is compatible with every other Deco model to form a mesh network.

On warranty, the listing field says 2 Year Manufacturer. The TP-Link documents recorded for this guide give no warranty term, and this listing exposes no Quick Installation Guide PDF to check the wording against, so confirm the period and claim procedure on TP-Link's support site.
