TP-Link Deco XE75 AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Mesh System, 2-Pack

The listing's tables give the model name, model number and manufacturer part number as Deco XE75(2-pack), UPC 840030707131, number of packs two, item weight 2.69 pounds and item dimensions 4.13 by 4.13 by 6.67 inches. TP-Link's package-content block covers 1-pack, 2-pack and 3-pack versions of the Deco XE75, and the user guide attached to the listing gives the model number as Deco XE75.

TP-Link's package-content block for the 2-pack lists two Deco XE75 units, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, two power adapters and one Quick Installation Guide, and the listing's included-components field lists the same four items. TP-Link's block lists one RJ45 cable for each pack size.

TP-Link's specifications tab gives each unit as 4.1 x 4.1 x 6.7 in (105 x 105 x 169 mm), close to the listing's figures. The tab's buttons row lists a reset button only, and the user guide describes a Reset button, a power slot and a status LED that changes colour on each Deco.

Three gigabit ports per unit, and no multi-gig or USB

TP-Link's hardware block lists three Gigabit ports per Deco unit with WAN/LAN auto-sensing, its overview page says 3x Gigabit Ports Per Unit, and the user guide describes three RJ-45 Ethernet ports on each Deco. The listing's LAN-port-bandwidth field says 10/100/1000 Mbps and its number-of-ports field says six for the kit.

TP-Link's specifications tab lists no port faster than a gigabit and has no USB row for this model. The listing's style selector also offers a Wi-Fi 6E version with a 2.5G port; that is a different product, it was not read, and nothing from it is used here.

What AXE5400 means across the three bands

TP-Link splits AXE5400 as 2402 Mbps on 6 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz, both as 802.11ax at HE160, and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The listing bullet prints the same three figures. TP-Link lists the standard as Wi-Fi 6E, with 802.11ax on 6 GHz, 802.11ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz and 802.11ax/n/b/g on 2.4 GHz.

The capacity block lists Tri-Band, 2x2 MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 6 Streams, with four high-gain internal antennas, beamforming, and Router and Access Point modes. The listing's antenna field says three, which does not match TP-Link's four; neither source explains the difference.

TP-Link's footnotes set two conditions. Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E features require clients that support them, and 160 MHz bandwidth may be unavailable in the 5 GHz band in some regions. A second footnote says Wi-Fi 6E allows seven additional 160 MHz channels, or three for European Union member states.

Coverage is stated two different ways

The listing says cover up to 5,500 Sq.Ft for this 2-pack. TP-Link's overview page instead headlines up to 7,200 square feet and says three units work together to provide coverage up to 7,200 sq. ft. So TP-Link's headline figure is a three-unit number, not a two-unit one.

TP-Link's specifications tab gives no square footage. It rates range by bedroom count instead: 1-3 bedroom houses for a 1-pack, 3-5 bedroom houses for a 2-pack and 4-7 or more bedroom houses for a 3-pack. That is the rating TP-Link ties to this pack size.

TP-Link's footnote says actual wireless data throughput, wireless coverage and the quantity of connected devices are not guaranteed. The 200-device claim appears on both the listing and TP-Link's overview page, and the same footnote covers it.

6 GHz is backhaul by default, per the user guide

The listing's second bullet says the 6 GHz band can work as a backhaul for connections between nodes by default, and that you can switch to Wi-Fi mode and connect Wi-Fi 6E devices to the 6 GHz network. TP-Link's Deco XE75 user guide, attached to the listing, says the same: 6 GHz Wi-Fi is used for dedicated backhaul by default.

The guide adds that when 6 GHz is used for your Wi-Fi, its network name and password can be changed or the network hidden, and that only Wi-Fi 6E devices can join it. It also says 6 GHz can be enabled for the guest network. TP-Link's product page and specifications tab do not describe this default.

Security, transmit power, environment and warranty

Wi-Fi encryption is listed as WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal and WPA3-Personal, and the listing's security-protocol field agrees. Network security covers an SPI firewall, access control and TP-Link's HomeShield set, with a guest network on each of the three bands. VPN server and client both cover OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec.

TP-Link's test-data block gives Wi-Fi transmission power as under 20 dBm on 2.4 GHz and under 23 dBm on 5 GHz and 6 GHz under CE rules, and under 30 dBm on all three bands under FCC rules. Certifications listed are CE, FCC and RoHS.

TP-Link's HomeShield footnote says the free Basic plan is included and fees apply for the Pro plan. Environment limits are 0 to 40 degrees Celsius operating, minus 40 to 60 Celsius storage, 10 to 90 percent operating humidity and 5 to 90 percent storage humidity. The listing's warranty field says 2 year manufacturer; the TP-Link documents recorded for this guide give no term, so confirm it with TP-Link.
