The 40 A plug-in Pulsar Plus with a J1772 connector
The part number on this listing, PUP2-U-1-5-N-002, decodes through Wallbox's own part-number key as a Pulsar Plus with a Type 1 (SAE J1772) connector, 9.6 kW of power and a NEMA 14-50 plug, on a 25-foot cable. The rated current is 40 A at 208/240 V. Wallbox describes the charger as 7.8 by 7.9 by 3.9 inches and 4.4 pounds without the cable; Amazon's weight field is 15.51 pounds.
The listing says the charger works with all EVs, with an adapter required for Tesla models, and Wallbox's guide says it can be used with any SAE J1772-compliant BEV or PHEV, including Teslas using the Tesla-provided adapter. The listing quotes 25 to 35 miles of range per hour depending on the vehicle.
Wallbox's datasheet says a mounting backplate is included and lists the model code PUP2 for this generation. The listing's included-media field names only the cable, so check the box for the backplate, holster and hardware when it arrives.
Circuit: a dedicated 50 A circuit for the plug-in model
Wallbox's guide says the 40 A plug-in version connects to a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a circuit with 50 A branch overcurrent protection. It asks that the outlet comply with local codes, sit on a dedicated 240 V circuit with a new two-pole breaker, and have the correct permits.
Wallbox's guide gives the plug lead as 12 inches, while Wallbox's shop page lists a 15-inch NEMA 14-50 lead for 40 A units, and the guide says the outlet must be on the left side of the charger. It recommends a charger mounting height of 50 to 67 inches and an outlet height of 43 to 59 inches, with at least 18 inches from the floor to the bottom of the charger. A licensed electrician should confirm that your panel and outlet meet these requirements before you buy.
Where only a smaller circuit is available, the guide says to reduce the charger's maximum current and describes the breaker sizes for each setting; the rule it gives is overcurrent protection of 125 percent of the selected maximum. Leave that setting to the electrician who confirms your circuit.
Adjustable current, app control and load management
Wallbox's datasheet and guide say current can be set from 16 A up to the rated current with a hardware selector on the charger, or from 6 A in the Wallbox app. The guide adds that choosing a selector position above the model's rating will not exceed the rated current, so this unit stays at 40 A or below.
Connectivity is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with app registration described in the guide and OCPP 1.6J listed on the datasheet. The datasheet lists static and dynamic load management and solar charging, and footnotes that these may require a separate power meter accessory, so plan for that extra accessory if you want either feature.
Status is shown by an LED halo whose colours the guide's operation page explains. The guide says some errors reset automatically after 15 seconds once the fault clears; for anything else it points to Wallbox's service contacts.
Temperature and weather rating
Wallbox's datasheet gives an operating range of minus 22 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and storage from minus 40 to 158 degrees, and rates the enclosure indoor and outdoor, NEMA Type 4 per UL 50E. The 104-degree upper limit is worth checking if the charger will sit in a hot garage or in direct sun.
One of the sample product labels pictured in the installation guide reads Enclosure Type 3R, while the datasheet and another pictured label say Type 4. Check the label on the unit you receive if the enclosure rating matters for your installation location.
Certification and safety features
The datasheet and guide list UL certification through a nationally recognised testing laboratory to UL 2594 and UL 2231, FCC Part 15 Class B, ICES-003 and ENERGY STAR. Current-fault protection is an integrated CCID20 plus a ground-monitoring circuit according to UL 2231. The listing adds that the charger is fully assembled in the United States, while a pictured sample label reads made in Spain; ask Wallbox if origin matters to you.
We did not look up a certificate or file number. If your inspector or utility asks for one, request it from Wallbox for part number PUP2-U-1-5-N-002.
Three-year limited warranty with shipping and labour limits
Wallbox's limited warranty covers equipment for three years from purchase against defects in material and workmanship, for buyers from Wallbox or an authorised reseller or distributor, and for people who received it as a gift from such a buyer. Wallbox may repair, replace or refund the lower of the standard retail price or the price paid.
You need a return authorisation form from [email protected] and proof of purchase, and you pay to ship the unit to Wallbox; Wallbox pays to return the repaired or replacement unit. The warranty excludes abuse, misuse, alteration, improper installation, repair, accident, natural disaster and use contrary to Wallbox's instructions, and Wallbox is not liable for labour, installation or removal costs.
Because Amazon is not named, keep your order record showing the seller, since the warranty covers purchases from Wallbox or its authorised resellers and distributors.
