American Tourister Belle Voyage Softside Carry-On Spinner (92427-1041, Black)

A softside carry-on with blouse and shoe pockets where 23.5 inches is allowed

Belle Voyage is a 7.8-pound polyester spinner with 1.5 inches of expansion and door-panel pockets for a blouse and shoes. American Tourister measures it at 23.5 inches tall, not the 21 inches in the Amazon title, and neither source describes a case lock.

Which Belle Voyage this is, and which page we checked

The listing sells the Belle Voyage softside spinner in black, size Carry-On 21-Inch, with model and part number 92427-1041. American Tourister's own page for the black item number returned an error when we checked it, so the black colour is not currently shown on the maker's site.

The live American Tourister page we read is the Belle Voyage Softside Carry-On in Blue Denim, item 924271094, from the same 92427 family. Its dimensions, weight and expansion match the listing's figures exactly, so the size and packing details below come from that page and apply to the 92427 carry-on.

Colour-specific details can differ. The listing describes gold components on the black case, while the Blue Denim page describes rose gold accents on the logo, zipper pulls and push-button handle. Rely on the listing photos for the trim on the black version.

Called 21 inches, measured at 23.5

The listing title calls this a 21-inch carry-on. American Tourister's specification table gives the external dimensions as 23.5 inches high, 14.5 inches long and 10.2 inches wide, with a linear dimension of 48.2 inches, and the listing's own bullet gives the same 23.5 by 14.5 by 10.2 inches overall.

The 21-inch label therefore does not describe the outside of the case. American Tourister's page says the bag meets most airline carry-on requirements, which is the maker's marketing claim rather than a measured fit. The same maker page also says allowances vary by airline.

American Tourister warns that an overstuffed bag may not be accepted by airlines. Check the 23.5 by 14.5 by 10.2 inch figure against the published limit of your carrier and fare before buying; this guide does not claim it fits any particular sizer.

Expansion and weight

Both sources say the case expands by 1.5 inches. American Tourister does not say whether the 10.2-inch external width is measured with the expansion open or closed, so keep it zipped when your bag is likely to be measured and ask the maker if the difference matters.

American Tourister gives the weight as 7.8 pounds and describes it as just under 8 pounds; the listing also says 7.8 pounds. If your airline enforces a cabin-bag weight limit, that figure comes out of your allowance before you pack anything.

The case is polyester, according to both the maker's specification table and the listing. American Tourister's page describes a large interior compartment and exterior packing pockets but does not say how many exterior pockets there are or give their sizes.

Inside: door-panel pockets for blouses and shoes

American Tourister lists a blouse pocket and a shoe pocket on the door panel and an interior modesty pocket. The listing mentions a large front-panel interior pocket for organisation. The maker gives the interior as 20.3 by 14 by 8 inches; the listing gives packing dimensions of 20.25 by 14 by 8 inches.

Neither source describes a laptop sleeve or a compression panel, and neither mentions tie-down straps. If you rely on straps to keep clothes in place, check the case in person or ask American Tourister before assuming they are fitted.

American Tourister's page says the carry-on offers room for a two-to-three-day trip. That is the maker's description of intended use, not a measured capacity; the 20.3 by 14 by 8 inch interior is the figure to plan around.

Handles, wheels and the missing lock

American Tourister describes single airflow spinner wheels and bail-style top handles. The listing counts four wheels, and both sources describe a push-button locking handle, a feature of the telescoping handle rather than a lock on the case.

Neither the maker page nor the listing describes a built-in TSA lock or any case lock. Amazon's table entry for lock type says push button, which matches the handle description. If you want the case locked, you will need to supply your own lock.

American Tourister's warranty page states that its product locks are intended only to prevent accidental opening and cannot necessarily prevent theft or entry by airline, airport or government personnel. Keep valuables with you rather than relying on any lock.

Warranty: ten years for manufacturing defects

The product page names a Limited 10 Year Global Warranty. American Tourister's warranty page says it covers manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for ten years from purchase, for the first purchaser or gift recipient, and that American Tourister chooses whether to fix or replace the product.

It excludes misuse, neglect, accidents, abrasion, exposure to extreme temperatures, solvents, acids and water, normal wear and tear, and transport damage such as airline damage. Warranty repairs must go through an approved service centre, labour by anyone else is not covered, and the warranty is limited to the value of the product.

American Tourister tells you to inspect the bag right after anyone else has handled it and, if it was damaged in transit, to file a claim with the transit company at the place of arrival. For purchases in California on or after July 1, 2023, the warranty starts on the delivery date.
