Anycubic Kobra S1 Max Combo with ACE 2 Pro
Large multicolour prints with built-in filament drying

What the Combo adds: one ACE 2 Pro
The Combo pairs the Kobra S1 Max printer with one ACE 2 Pro, which Anycubic's manual also calls the Intelligent Color Engine. The FAQ says one ACE 2 Pro is included as standard for four-colour printing, and that four ACE 2 Pro units with two four-in-one hubs and a two-in-one hub reach 16 colours.
The Combo manual's packing list includes the ACE 2 Pro, two power cords, a signal cable, four PTFE tubes and a return detection module with a four-in-one hub, along with a spare 0.6 millimetre hardened steel nozzle, an activated carbon pack, tools and the spool holder. The manual's setup places the ACE 2 Pro on top of the printer.
The FAQ says the Combo works with the second-generation ACE 2 Pro and not with the first-generation ACE Pro, and that the two cannot be used together. It also says the Combo's hotend, hotbed, nozzle and ACE 2 Pro accessories are unique, and that few modules are shared.
Size and weight of the pair
Build volume is 350 by 350 by 350 millimetres. The manual gives the printer as 502.7 by 483 by 584 millimetres and 25.7 kilograms, and the ACE 2 Pro as 368 by 291.5 by 236.5 millimetres and 3.7 kilograms. The manual's setup places the ACE 2 Pro on top of the printer, so plan the space for both units together.
The FAQ gives a packed Combo weight of 35 kilograms. The listing gives 77.8 pounds and 21 by 23 by 19 inches, and does not say whether those figures describe the packed Combo or the machines.
The printer's rated power is 1,000 watts on 110 volts and 2,200 watts on 220 volts. The FAQ lists the ACE 2 Pro's rated power as 235 or 300 watts, with a built-in power supply that needs only a power cable and the signal cable.
Drying with the ACE 2 Pro, and its limits
Anycubic's comparison table lists active drying up to 65 degrees Celsius for the Combo and not supported for the printer alone. The FAQ gives a drying range of 35 to 65 degrees, durations of 2 to 24 hours, and three modes: dry while printing, pre-drying, and standalone drying.
There is a catch. The FAQ says the ACE 2 Pro cannot dry offline: it must stay connected to the printer by the signal cable, with the printer powered on and set to material drying mode. The FAQ also describes two exhaust vents and ports on the back and bottom of the unit.
The FAQ supports only standard 1 kilogram spools between 60 and 68 millimetres wide and 195 to 200 millimetres in diameter, with 3 to 6 millimetre outer walls. It does not officially recommend cardboard spools and suggests printing spool guards for them.
A capacity statement to check
One FAQ answer says the ACE 2 Pro can accommodate a maximum of two spools at the same time. Elsewhere, the same FAQ says one ACE 2 Pro supports four-colour printing, and the listing and store page describe four colours per unit.
The FAQ does not explain the difference, and we are not guessing at it. If you plan to load four spools at once or dry more than two, ask Anycubic how many spools the ACE 2 Pro holds for each purpose.
Also check filament types. The FAQ lists PLA, PETG, TPU at 95A, ACE-specific TPU, PLA-CF, PETG-CF and PVA as consumer-grade and ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PA6-CF and PC-CF or GF as engineering-grade. Ask Anycubic which of these the ACE 2 Pro itself can feed before you plan a multi-material job.
The printer: heat, speed and levelling
Anycubic lists a 350 degree hotend with a hardened steel nozzle, a 120 degree PEI spring steel bed and active chamber heating to 65 degrees. The FAQ says the heated chamber helps prevent warping on materials such as ABS carbon fibre. Nozzles swap through a quick-release hotend at 0.25, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 millimetres.
Recommended printing speed is 300 mm/s with a 600 mm/s maximum, and recommended acceleration is 10,000 mm/s squared with a 20,000 maximum. The listing's claims of a 15-minute Benchy and 80 percent shorter print times are not in the Anycubic documents we read.
Levelling is LeviQ 3.0 with area levelling, and the listing describes 49 probe points. Flow calibration, power loss resume, run-out detection, entanglement detection, AI spaghetti detection via a 720p camera and object skip are listed as supported. Noise is 48 dB or less in standard mode and 45 dB or less in quiet mode.
Connectivity, upkeep and warranty
The manual lists 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and Anycubic's store page adds Ethernet and a LAN mode alongside its cloud platform. Slicing is Anycubic Slicer Next or OrcaSlicer, and printing can start from the printer, the slicer, the app or a USB drive.
The manual's maintenance page asks for regular lubrication of the lead screw, linear rod, guide rail, idler pulley and extruder wheel, and for checks on PTFE tubes, silicone wipes, cutter blades and sensors. Its precautions cover hot parts, moving parts and keeping small parts from children; follow the manual for those.
Anycubic's store page advertises a one-year warranty for 3D printers. We did not read a separate warranty policy, and the store page's warranty line names 3D printers only, so confirm the terms for both units before buying.
