Bambu Lab P1S Enclosed CoreXY 3D Printer
ABS and ASA work that needs an enclosure and a carbon filter
An enclosed CoreXY printer with a 256 mm cube build volume, a 100C bed, an activated carbon filter and fans aimed at ABS and ASA. The enclosure is passive: Bambu Lab states the chamber is not actively heated and cannot be precisely controlled. AMS units for multi-colour are a separate purchase, up to four.

An enclosed CoreXY with a 256 mm cube
Bambu Lab's P1 Series FAQ gives the P1S as 389 by 389 by 458 millimetres, weighing 12.95 kilograms, with a maximum build volume of 256 by 256 by 256 millimetres. Recommended room conditions are 10 to 30 degrees Celsius with humidity under 85 percent.
Worth noting before you plan a shelf: the Amazon listing shows two different dimension sets. Its overview block says 18.72 by 20.67 by 18.72 inches while its detail table says 15.31 by 18.03 by 15.31 inches. The maker's 389 by 389 by 458 millimetres converts to the smaller of those two, so measure against the maker's figure.
The listing's speed claim is 500 mm/s with 20000 mm/s squared acceleration. Neither maker page we read repeats those numbers, so treat them as the listing's claim rather than as verified specifications, and note that neither page states a maximum hotend temperature either.
Enclosed is not the same as a heated chamber
Bambu Lab answers the chamber question directly in its own FAQ. Asked whether the heated chamber of the P1S is actively heated, the FAQ says no: the chamber temperature rises as a consequence of the temperature set for the heated bed, and it cannot be precisely controlled.
So the enclosure raises and stabilises chamber temperature passively, but there is no chamber heater and no chamber setpoint. If your work depends on holding a specific chamber temperature, this machine does not offer that.
The maximum heat bed temperature is 100 degrees Celsius, which is what drives the chamber. Bambu Lab describes the P1S as adding to the older P1P a fully enclosed chamber, an auxiliary part cooling fan, a chamber regulator fan to stabilise the inner chamber temperature, a control board fan, and an activated carbon filter aimed at filaments such as ABS that emit odours and harmful gases while printing.
Fibre-reinforced filament needs hardware you do not get
The Amazon bullet lists the filament tiers as ideal for PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PET, ABS and ASA, capable with PA and PC, and not recommended for carbon or glass fibre reinforced polymer. Bambu Lab's FAQ explains why the last tier reads that way and what to do about it.
Comparing the P1S against the X1C, the FAQ says it is not recommended to directly print fibre-reinforced filaments such as glass fibre or carbon fibre before an extruder and hotend upgrade is done. Specifically, it says to upgrade to a hardened hotend with nozzle and a hardened steel extruder gear assembly, both sold separately.
It also recommends a hardened steel 0.6 mm nozzle for fibre-filled filament to reduce clogging and abrasion, while noting that Bambu's own PLA-CF and PETG-CF have tested with low clogging risk on a hardened steel 0.4 mm nozzle. Budget for those parts if fibre printing is why you are buying an enclosed machine.
Multi-colour scales to four AMS units, sold separately
The listing headline of up to 16 colours comes with its own caveat in the same bullet: connecting a Bambu Lab AMS is required, and no AMS is included in this ASIN. The FAQ confirms the ceiling, saying the P1S can connect up to four AMS devices at once.
Four AMS units is a lot of desk. Bambu Lab's answer says that when four are connected they can be placed on a shelf for stacking and points to a community model for a recommended shelf and stacking arrangement, so the physical layout is something you design rather than something that comes in a box.
One practical note from the same FAQ: the filament buffer is not needed when printing from a single spool, because the spool itself acts as the buffer. That matters if you are buying one AMS later rather than now.
Connectivity and running it without the cloud
The P1S is covered by Bambu Lab's LAN Mode documentation, which describes enabling LAN Only Mode from the printer settings and then binding the printer to Bambu Studio with an access code. For the P1 series the option sits under Settings and then WLAN, and it is off by default.
Bambu Lab lists what LAN Only Mode costs you: you cannot start prints remotely from outside the local network, the Bambu Handy app is not available, and Print History is not available. Those trade-offs apply to every printer it covers, so decide up front whether account-free operation matters more than remote starting.
The same page also documents a fallback for awkward networks: if the printer and computer sit on different subnets or VLANs, you can bind by IP address plus access code in Bambu Studio, though it notes Bambu Studio does not store the IP address, so you re-enter both each time you restart it.
Upgrades, parts and what this page cannot tell you
Bambu Lab documents the P1S as the upgraded sibling of the P1P and publishes the full upgrade parts list, which doubles as a spare-parts list for owners: glass cover plate, front door, front door mounting kit, left and right plastic panels, rear metal panel, front cover, activated carbon filter, auxiliary part cooling fan, control board fan, chamber regulator fan, cable chain assembly, heavy duty toolhead cable, PTFE tube and air filter fan bracket.
The activated carbon filter in that list is the part Bambu Lab describes as handling odour and fumes when printing ABS. Neither maker page we read gives a replacement interval for it, so ask Bambu Lab how often it expects the filter to be changed before you commit to a lot of ABS work.
Two other gaps are worth stating plainly. Neither maker page we read publishes an operating noise figure, a power draw figure, or a maximum hotend temperature for the P1S, and we read no warranty document, so nothing here should be taken as a warranty term. Check those on Bambu Lab's own specification page before ordering.
