ELEGOO Centauri Carbon Enclosed CoreXY 3D Printer

High-temperature filament on a home network, no cloud account

An enclosed CoreXY printer with a 256 mm cube build volume, a 320C nozzle and a 110C bed, with a built-in chamber camera and browser-based network printing that needs no account. Two things to read first: rated power is 350 watts on 110 volt mains, and the hot end and build plate carry no warranty.

The parameters ELEGOO publishes for it

The manual's machine parameters page is unusually complete. It gives a maximum build volume of 256 by 256 by 256 millimetres, print precision of plus or minus 0.1 millimetres, a standard 0.4 millimetre nozzle and a print speed of 500 millimetres per second or less. Maximum nozzle temperature is 320 degrees Celsius and maximum heated bed temperature is 110 degrees.

The machine measures 398 by 404 by 490 millimetres and weighs 17.5 kilograms, which matches the 38.5 pounds in Amazon's table. Ambient operating temperature is given as 5 to 40 degrees Celsius, which is the range ELEGOO publishes for this model.

The listing adds a 20000 mm/s squared acceleration figure and describes automatic vibration compensation and pressure advance. The manual's parameter table does not give an acceleration number, so treat that one as the listing's claim rather than a specification you can hold ELEGOO to.

Rated power is very different on US and European mains

This is the figure to read before anything else. The manual lists input power as AC 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 Hz, and then gives rated power twice: 1100 watts at 220 volts, and 350 watts at 110 volts. That is not a rounding difference, and the manual does not explain what the lower figure means in practice.

On a North American 110 volt supply you are working with the lower figure. The manual does not state warm-up times at either voltage, so ask ELEGOO what heat-up looks like at 110 volts before buying if that matters to your workflow.

The manual also carries a pointed electrical warning: the Type-C interface on the mainboard runs at 24 volts, and it says it is strictly prohibited to connect that port directly to a computer or external device, because doing so may cause damage. It also asks for the machine to be properly grounded.

The enclosure has a glass lid you are told to take off

The listing describes an enclosed chamber with enhanced cooling, and the manual's component diagram shows a chamber camera, an air filter and an auxiliary part cooling fan. The listing also credits a rigid die-cast aluminium frame for stability at speed.

One instruction sits in the manual's notes rather than the setup pages: when printing low-temperature filaments such as PLA and flexible filaments, remove the glass top cover. The manual does not explain why, so plan on taking the lid off and putting it back depending on the job.

The manual does not name a supported filament list beyond describing the standard 0.4 millimetre nozzle, and the listing says the nozzle is brass with hardened steel and is aimed at carbon fibre reinforced filament. Neither document we read describes any multi-colour or multi-material system for this printer, so treat it as a single-filament machine.

Printing over the network happens in a browser

The manual lists the interfaces as USB drive and Wi-Fi, with no Ethernet port in the component diagram. For network printing, it tells you to connect the printer to Wi-Fi, read its IP address off the screen, put your computer on the same local network, then type that IP into a browser to reach the printer's backend management page.

From that web interface you can upload G-code files, monitor progress and pause or stop a print. ELEGOO's slicer is the recommended software, taking STL, OBJ, 3MF and STP files and exporting G-code that you either send over the web interface or copy to a USB drive for offline printing.

Nothing in the manual requires an account, a cloud service or an internet connection to print, which is worth knowing if cloud dependency is a concern for you. Equally, nothing documents a phone app or remote access from outside your own network, so do not assume either exists.

Setup, the build plate and the routine maintenance

Setup is short: take out the foam and tool kit, unlock the heated bed by removing three screws with the supplied Allen wrench, connect the screen ribbon cable with its gold contacts facing up, slot the screen in, mount the spool holder by turning it counterclockwise, then feed filament into the detector. The printer then runs a self-check, during which the manual says vibration and noise are normal and you must not tap or shake the machine.

The build plate is double-sided. The manual tells you to recalibrate the printing platform before each print when you switch sides on the double-sided textured flexible plate, and to re-level whenever you have removed the nozzle assembly or the build platform. Amazon's bullet calls one side a new PLA specific surface, which the manual does not repeat.

Named maintenance is modest: clean the body with a dry cloth while powered off, check and clean the cooling fans to stop debris building up, and apply lubricating oil to the Z-axis lead screws as needed. The manual also suggests using the nozzle's residual heat to clear filament residue after a print, without touching the nozzle directly. Supplied accessories include a spare heatbed nozzle wiper, a scraper blade, an unclogging pin and four Allen wrenches.

The warranty splits the printer into three tiers

The manual says warranty periods vary by component and points to ELEGOO's policy page, which names the Centauri Series directly. Parts not otherwise listed get 12 months from the date the original order was received. That is the headline figure, and by the policy's wording it applies to every part not named in the other two tiers.

A second tier gets six months and excludes man-made damage: the extruder, extruder kit and printhead kit. A third tier gets no warranty at all because ELEGOO classes it as consumables: the PEI platform plate and platform kits, the build plate, the nozzle kit, the PTFE tube, the heater, the thermistor, the hot end, plus packaging, the user manual and tools. On a printer sold for hot-end-intensive filament, that hot end exclusion deserves a careful read.

ELEGOO says it will still replace a consumable that fails through a manufacturing defect while the printer is in warranty, at its own discretion. Coverage is void for products repaired by a third party or modified by an individual, for products without a valid receipt from ELEGOO or an authorised distributor, and for damage from falls or improper operation. Returns for non-quality reasons carry a restocking percentage that rises once the box is opened, and used machines are not refundable.
