Which Wingman this is: the HD, SKU 362350

Bushnell sells several Wingman speakers: the Wingman HD, the Wingman View, the Wingman 2 and the Wingman Mini, plus the original Wingman under its Previous Generations heading. Because the plain name Wingman covers all of them, the code matters. Bushnell's store data for the Wingman HD carries SKU 362350, the manual's cover prints SKU 362350, and its FCC ID is 2ASQI-362350.

This listing's model and part number are also 362350, and it is sold by Amazon.com. It is a GPS speaker, not a laser rangefinder, so you do not aim it at a flag. If you do not need a screen, Bushnell's Wingman 2 speaks the same front, center and back distances through a remote and claims up to 14 hours of battery. The manual says the speaker delivers visible and audible GPS distances when it is paired with the Bushnell Golf mobile app.

The 3.5-inch touchscreen and what it shows

The HD is the Wingman with a screen. Bushnell lists a 3.5-inch color HD touchscreen showing front, center and back distances with hole and green view images, hazards and layup points with icons, and a shot distance calculator. The manual shows up to six hazards per hole and says you scroll up to see more of them.

Scoring is on the device: the manual says to tap the score to enter it and to open the scorecard from the front, center and back screen. It also describes a MyBag feature, made with Foresight Sports, which needs a Bushnell Golf app account and a Foresight account and is disabled if they are not linked.

If you move the pin in the Bushnell Golf app, the manual says the Center distance changes to Pin, meaning the number is then to the pin rather than the center of the green. The manual's start-a-round steps begin in the app: turn the speaker on, open the app, press Play Now and choose the course.

Bushnell Golf Plus: which features are paid

Bushnell's page splits the features into free and Bushnell Golf Plus, a monthly or yearly subscription. Free features include visual and audible front, center and back distances, hole and green view images, a moveable pin through the app, score entry, shot distance, hazards and first tee introductions.

The page lists green heat maps, wind speed and direction, slope compensation and the Elements and PlayAs adjustments as Golf Plus features, and says premium features are free for your first 9 holes of play. The manual mentions PlayAs distances through MyBag but does not describe the subscription, so check the current terms in the app.

Bushnell's page states amounts for the monthly and yearly plans, which this guide does not repeat because they can change. Read them on Bushnell's page before deciding whether the paid features matter to your game.

Sound, battery, charging and water

Bushnell lists two 15-watt speakers with two passive radiators for 360 degree sound, Bluetooth 5.2 and a built-in microphone for calls. The manual's indoor and outdoor modes are switched by pressing both volume buttons, and the default is indoor. Bushnell's page says Concert Links can link up to 100 speakers.

Bushnell's specs tab gives a battery life of 8 hours. The manual says to charge through USB-C for 3 to 5 hours from a USB port or an adapter of at least 5V and 2A, which is not included. The USB-A port can charge a phone, but the manual says this reduces the speaker's own battery level and operating time.

Bushnell's page and the manual's own specification table rate it IP67, while the manual's care section calls it water resistant, says not to expose it to heavy rain or direct streams of water and says it will not withstand submersion. The manual says to close the port cover tightly after charging, and to keep the screen shaded because it can warm up in direct sunlight.

Box contents, setup and warranty

The manual's box list is the speaker, a cleaning cloth, a lanyard, a carabiner and a USB-C to USB-A cable. Bushnell's page lists the device, a USB charging cable, a lanyard and carabiner clip, a cleaning cloth and a quick start guide.

Setup starts with the Bushnell Golf mobile app. The manual says to add the Wingman HD from the device list, follow the pairing prompts, and hold the B button for at least 4 seconds to turn the speaker on. It saves up to 8 paired devices and powers down after one hour of inactivity.

Bushnell's warranty tab gives one year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, with repair or replacement at Bushnell's option when you return it postage prepaid. Misuse, improper handling and service by anyone other than a Bushnell authorized service department are excluded. The manual adds that unauthorized service attempts void the warranty.

Where the sources disagree

Size and weight differ. Bushnell's page and manual give 8.25 by 3.5 by 2.75 inches and 900 grams, which the manual also writes as 32 ounces. The listing gives 7.3 by 3.2 by 2.7 inches and 2.5 pounds, so the listing weight is heavier than Bushnell's.

The manual's battery caution lists a rechargeable lithium polymer battery of 3.6V and 395mAh, a figure Bushnell's page does not repeat next to its 8-hour battery life. The manual's regulatory pages also carry a laser-light caution that Bushnell does not explain for a speaker.

Audio quality, screen brightness and battery life are not assessed here, so treat the 8-hour figure and the IP67 rating as Bushnell's claims. Read the manual's magnet warning for pacemakers before using the BITE cart mount.
