What the RJO101 is
The listing gives item model number and part number RJO101MC, and Chamberlain's product page sells RJO101MC as the Wall Mount Ultra-Quiet Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener with Battery Backup. It mounts on the wall, and the checklist and manual require a door with a torsion bar; Chamberlain's specs list the drive type as direct drive with a DC motor.
Chamberlain lists built-in Wi-Fi for the myQ app, battery backup, remote LED lighting that can extend to 8 light pods, an automatic garage door lock that deadbolts the door after it closes, and compatibility with Amazon Key and Walmart+ In-home delivery.
The manual says the model number is on the front cover. The listing title mentions 850 lb of lift power; we found no lift figure in the Chamberlain documents we read, so that number appears only in the listing.
Check your garage before you buy
Chamberlain publishes a pre-purchase checklist for this opener and says all its requirements must be met, or you must install a different model. It calls for a sectional door with a torsion bar of 1 inch diameter, drums of 4 to 6 inches, and standard doors up to 14 feet high, high-lift doors with up to 54 inches of high lift, doors up to 18 feet wide and up to 180 square feet.
Clearances in the checklist are at least 3 inches from ceiling to the centre of the torsion bar, 2.5 inches from the wall to its centre, 8.5 inches between the side wall or obstruction and the end of the bar, and at least 1.5 inches of bar past the bearing plate. A 120 VAC outlet must be within 6 feet of the installation area.
The checklist also says extension springs are not compatible, and the manual adds reverse wound drums and low headroom tracks with outside pick-up drums to the not-compatible list. Smaller 3 to 3.9 inch drums may be used only on doors up to 430 lb.
Installation is aimed at technicians
The listing describes a simplified installation. The manual's cover is more cautious: it says the product is intended for installation only by trained garage door technicians, and may require adjustments to door springs or track configurations.
The listing also says the opener suits unique high-lift or low-headroom setups. The manual says it is not intended for low headroom tracks with outside pick-up drums, so if your door has that arrangement, check with a door technician before ordering.

What comes in the box
The manual's carton inventory lists a remote with visor clip, a CH361 1-button control, a myQLED2 Smart LED Light with hardware, an automatic garage door lock with bell wire, a mounting bracket, a collar, two safety reversing sensors with brackets, a motion-detecting control panel, the battery, a handle and rope, and hardware. It notes that older 24V door locks are not compatible.
Chamberlain's product page What's Included panel lists the Smart LED garage light, the battery backup battery, the motion-detecting wall control panel, a 2021-to-present safety sensor kit, a 1-button remote and a 3-button remote. The 2023 pre-purchase checklist, however, labels the LED light as sold separately, so confirm the light is in your box.
The manual says the Smart LED Light must be installed to use Timer-to-Close or myQ to control the door, and the checklist limits Timer-to-Close and myQ remote operation to sectional doors.
Wi-Fi, accessories and battery backup
For the myQ app the manual lists a 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi signal in the garage, broadband internet, your router's main network password rather than a guest network, and the myQ serial number on the opener. It supports up to 16 myQ accessories, 40 remotes and 4 keyless entries.
Accessory codes differ by document. Chamberlain's specs list Security+ 2.0 compatibility, and the manual says the opener works only with myQ, Security+ 2.0, Security+ 3.0 MAX or Universal accessories. Chamberlain's page says it is HomeLink compatible and notes a Compatibility Bridge, not included, may be needed.
On battery power the manual says the opener runs slower, the light does not work, the battery status LED glows orange and it beeps about every 2 seconds, and myQ smartphone control does not work. The lights otherwise turn off automatically after 4.5 minutes.
Warranty terms
The manual's warranty table gives 5 years on parts, lifetime on the motor, 1 year on accessories and 1 year on the battery backup. Chamberlain's product page lists the same parts, motor, accessory and battery terms and adds lifetime on the drive.
The product page's warranty panel also lists a 1-year camera warranty, although neither the page's specs nor the manual's carton inventory mention a camera for this model. Neither document explains that line, so ask Chamberlain whether it applies to the RJO101.
The manual's warranty covers the first retail purchaser, asks you to call Chamberlain's toll-free number before dismantling the opener for a claim, and requires a prepaid, insured return. Its exclusions are listed in full on the manual's warranty page.
