A chain drive with the backup battery already fitted
The 7035-TKV is Genie's ChainDrive 750. Genie describes a three-quarter HPc DC motor driving a heavy-duty chain on a five-piece tube rail that snaps together without special hardware. Genie's page and the Amazon listing agree on part number 38960R and UPC 050049020613, so the identity of this ASIN is not in doubt.
The reason to pick this one is the integrated battery backup. Genie states it operates the opener up to fifty times after the power goes out, and the Amazon bullet gives the same figure and calls the unit California Senate Bill 969 compliant.
The manual treats the backup as a serviceable part. It specifies a 12-volt, 5Ah sealed lead-acid battery, Genie part 111658.0002.S, says other makers' backup devices will not work with this opener, and tells you to let a new battery charge for 24 to 48 hours before testing it.
Seven-foot doors, and the extension kit is named differently in each source
Genie states the motor will smoothly lift a sectional garage door up to seven feet in height and up to 500 pounds. Both the Genie page and the listing are clear that eight-foot doors need an extension kit that is sold separately, so measure your opening before you order anything.
The two sources do not name that kit the same way. Genie's product page calls it Genie EKTC for eight-foot high residential doors, while the manual's replacement-parts page lists only a generic rail extension kit for chain and another for belt, with no part number printed. Because this opener uses a five-piece tube rail, confirm with Genie which kit fits that rail before buying.
One line in the Amazon bullets does not belong to a garage door opener at all: it tells you to measure your door's backset, cross bore and thickness, which are entry-door lock measurements. Ignore it, and use the seven-foot height and 500-pound weight limits that both Genie and the listing actually state.
What comes in the box, and how many buttons the remotes have
Genie lists two pre-programmed two-button remotes, a wireless keypad for PIN entry, and a multi-function wall console with a vacation lock and a light control button. The listing's included-components field says two-button remotes as well, and adds the Safe-T-Beam safety sensors and installation instructions.
One Amazon bullet disagrees with all of that and says two pre-programmed three-button remotes. Two maker-side descriptions and the listing's included-components field say two-button, so that is the more supported reading, but the box you receive is worth checking on arrival if the button count matters to you.
Light bulbs are not included. Genie says so directly and recommends its own LED bulbs, and the manual caps bulbs at 60 watts maximum in incandescent, CFL or LED equivalent, in A19 size with no short neck. It also warns that LED bulbs may reduce remote control range.
This model has no app, and the remotes are the smart part
Neither Genie's product page for 7035-TKV nor the listing describes Wi-Fi, a phone app, a smart home skill or any subscription. Security here comes from the Intellicode rolling-code system the manual describes, not from anything connected to your network.
What you do get is car integration without extra hardware. Genie states HomeLink and Car2U compatibility comes standard on this opener, and the manual devotes a page to programming both systems.
The wall console adds a Sure-Lock function that stops the powerhead responding to the console or a remote while the door is closed, plus an independent light button. The manual also describes a Door Detect system tied to the safety beams and the Safe-T-Reverse function that reverses a closing door within two seconds of contact.
Installation limits and the monthly checks the manual expects
The manual is explicit that this opener is for residential sectional overhead doors only, and that the supplied Safe-T-Beam system must be installed before the door will close, with no other brand or type substituted. The beams have no effect while the door is opening; they only stop and reverse a closing door.
Mounting positions are specified: the wall console goes within sight of the door, far enough away that you cannot touch the door while using it, and at least five feet above the floor. The automatic lighting switches off four minutes after the opener is activated.
The maintenance list is monthly, not annual: contact reverse test, lubricating door rollers and hinges, a Safe-T-Beam check, and a door balance test. If the door moves quickly when you release it halfway, the manual sends you to a trained door system technician for the springs rather than letting you adjust them.
Two documents give the motor two different warranty lengths
The manual's warranty page names model 7035 explicitly and gives limited lifetime cover on the motor and gearbox, five years on the chain for chain drive products, five years on core unit parts, and one year on accessories and on parts outside the core unit. Core unit means the power head, wired wall control, Safe-T-Beam system, J-Arm and rail.
Genie's own product page for this model says something different: that the maintenance-free precision machined motor and gearbox is backed by a ten-year limited warranty. The Amazon manufacturer warranty field agrees with the manual and says limited lifetime motor, five year chain, five year parts, one year accessories. We are not going to guess which is current, so get the motor term in writing from Genie before you buy on that basis.
The conditions are the same either way and they are narrow. Limited lifetime means only while the original purchaser owns the home where the opener was first installed, the warranty is not transferable, labor is excluded, and it applies to residential installs in the country of purchase. Batteries, use of an extension cord, clearance or open-box sales missing parts, and repairs to the door itself are all excluded.
