A belt drive kit with the wall console and remotes included
This is Genie's SilentMax 1250 Connect, sold as model 4142-TC in grey. Both the listing and Genie's own store page describe a heavy-duty belt drive with a 140 volt DC motor, and Genie adds that the rail is an enclosed C-channel design.
What arrives is a complete system rather than a bare opener. Genie lists two pre-programmed two-button remotes and a multi-function wall console with a vacation lock and a light control button; the listing's built-in media field adds the Safe-T-Beams and the integrated Aladdin Connect control.
The remotes carry what Genie calls its patent-pending Child Guard Battery Lock. The listing gives the item weight as 33.2 pounds, and the UPC and the Genie store SKU match across both pages, which is a useful check that you are looking at the same kit.
Power, speed and the door it will lift
Genie's store page puts a number on the motor that the listing leaves out: 3/4 HPc. It says the 140 volt DC motor will operate almost any residential garage door up to 7 feet high out of the box, or up to 8 feet with an extension kit sold separately as part number 37302R.
The listing gives the same 7 foot limit twice, once in its bullets and once as a maximum range field in the specification table, and describes the opener as designed for standard residential garage doors. Its table also records the intended application as a residential sectional garage door.
Genie also publishes an opening speed of up to 9.0 inches per second for this model. Neither the store page nor the listing gives a closing speed, and neither says how that figure was measured, so treat it as the maker's own number.
There is no battery backup, and California rules that out
This is the single most important thing on Genie's store page and it does not appear on the listing at all. Genie states that as of 1 July 2019 this item cannot be shipped to the state of California because of Senate Bill No. 969.
The reason Genie gives is that California residents must purchase a garage door opener with a battery backup included. Nothing in the listing's bullets, description or specification table mentions a battery backup, and Genie's own feature list for this model does not include one either.
So treat this as a mains-only opener, and read Genie's California notice before ordering if you live in that state. Neither source we read describes what happens to the door during a power cut, because no manual for this model could be opened.
Aladdin Connect, and car remotes without a bridge
Wi-Fi is built into the opener rather than added later. Both sources say integrated Aladdin Connect lets you monitor, open and close the door from the app, and both name Alexa and Google Assistant as compatible voice platforms.
Genie makes a point of the car side: it says the opener works out of the box with built-in car remote systems such as HomeLink and Car2U with no additional hardware, no bridges and no repeaters. If your car has buttons in the mirror or headliner, that matters.
The rest of Genie's feature list covers the safety and security items it names as standard: the Safe-T-Beam non-contact reversing system, GenieSense monitoring and diagnostic technology, Intellicode, and SmartSet push-button programming. Motion detection lighting is listed separately by both sources.
The warranty is four different lengths, not one
The listing mentions only a limited lifetime motor warranty. Genie's store page is fuller, giving limited lifetime motor and gearbox, a 15-year belt, 5-year parts and 1-year accessories, and Genie's own warranty document backs that up in a model table whose 4142 row reads the same way.
That document defines the terms. Limited lifetime means for as long as the original purchaser owns the residence where the opener was first installed. The core parts covered for five years are the powerhead, the wired or wireless wall control, the Safe-T-Beam system, the J-arm and the rail.
The exclusions matter as much as the periods. Labour charges are excluded, the warranty is not transferable, it covers only residential installations in the United States and Canada, and it does not apply to unauthorised or improper installation, batteries, use of an extension cord, missing parts from clearance or open-box sales, or repairs to the door itself.
What you will not find on the listing
No manual, installation poster or warranty sheet is attached to this listing, and its warranty section says the manufacturer's warranty has to be requested from customer service. Genie's store page does link a belt and chain owner's manual, which is where the programming, limits and maintenance detail lives.
That manual would not load during this research, so nothing here is drawn from it. Read it before you start, because the assembly, the rail, the travel limits, the force settings and the safety sensor alignment are all in there and none of them should be guessed at.
The door itself is separate work again. Springs, cables, brackets and pulleys are under high tension and are a job for a trained door system technician, not a weekend. If the door does not sit still when you raise it by hand, get it serviced before fitting any opener to it.
