What the kit contains and which doors it fits

The listing and Genie's own page agree on the name: the LED Connect, model 7155L. The listing's model number field holds 39765W, which is a part number rather than a model, and its UPC is 050049022686. The listed weight is 31.8 pounds.

The included components field is a full kit: the opener, two remotes, a wireless wall console, the Safe-T-Beam sensors, a keypad, the back-up battery, the installation poster and the owner's manual. Genie's page adds that a wireless wall console saves running wires from the powerhead to the door.

On the door, Genie's page says the motor operates residential sectional garage doors up to 7 feet in height and 500 pounds in weight, and its footnote says an extension kit is required for 8 foot doors. The manual restricts the opener to a sectional residential door and rules out photocells from other makers.

The listing writes HP where Genie writes HPc

The listing's first bullet calls this a 1.25 HP ultra-quiet smart belt drive opener. Genie's page writes the same motor as a 1 and a quarter HPc DC motor, which is a different unit, and the difference is not cosmetic.

Genie defines it in a footnote on the same page: horsepower comparable, or HPc, designates that the opener meets Genie's lifting force specification for the amount of horsepower mentioned. It is Genie's own lifting-force comparison rather than a measured motor horsepower rating, and the listing has dropped the letter that says so.

Both sources agree on the drive. It is a steel-reinforced belt paired with a DC motor. Genie also names GenieSense, described on its page as continuously monitoring the door and stopping operation to alert you when significant changes occur.

Integrated LED lighting, and the catch that comes with it

This opener does not take screw-in bulbs. Genie's page describes a bright 1600 lumen integrated LED lighting system that illuminates the entire garage, and the listing description gives the same 1,600 lumen figure.

The catch appears in the manual's light bulb section. After setting out the rules for A19 bulbs, it adds that models equipped with integrated LED lighting require specialty kits available for order in the replacement parts section. So a replacement is a Genie part order rather than a bulb from a shelf.

Neither Genie's page nor the manual we read gives a service life for that LED assembly or a part number for the kit. Neither document states one, so ask Genie for the replacement kit's part number before you commit if long-term parts availability matters to you.

What actually happens when the power goes out

The battery backup is in the box, which matters where a backup is required. Genie's page carries the notice that state law SB-969 requires all installed garage door openers in California to have battery backup as of 1 July 2019. Neither source publishes how many cycles the backup delivers on a charge.

The manual sets expectations that the listing does not. It says to charge the backup for 48 hours before testing it and that the opener may not run on battery until it is fully charged. On battery the opener runs at a reduced speed, and the work light does not operate at all, though courtesy white LEDs come on.

Two further limits are worth knowing. The manual says battery backup devices from other manufacturers will not work with this opener and that only the Genie part should be used, specifying a 12 volt 5 amp-hour sealed lead-acid cell under a Genie part number. It also restricts the backup to dry indoor locations and says it is not intended for outdoor use.

The warranty wording does not name the L

Genie's page for this model promises a limited lifetime motor and belt warranty. The listing's manufacturer warranty description is shorter still, giving only the words lifetime limited with no breakdown of parts, accessories or battery.

The warranty document Genie links from this model's own page sets terms out in a model-by-model table, and its closest row is headed 7155 without the L suffix. That row reads limited lifetime on the motor and gearbox, five years on core parts, one year on accessories and other parts, limited lifetime on the belt, and one year on the battery backup.

We are not going to assume the L is covered by that row, because the document does not print it. Genie defines limited lifetime as lasting as long as the original purchaser owns the residence where the opener was first installed, and excludes labour, transfers, non-residential installations, batteries, extension cord use and door component repairs. Ask Genie to confirm the 7155L terms in writing.

Wi-Fi setup, monthly checks and who to call

Aladdin Connect is built into the powerhead. Genie's page says it works with Alexa and that the opener is HomeLink and Car2U compatible with no external repeater box or bridge needed, and that it pairs with up to 16 wireless devices. The manual asks you to check the Wi-Fi before setup: stand where the opener will be mounted with your phone on the home network and confirm at least two bars.

The manual also lists what the app does, including custom access per user, notifications by user, time or day, a usage history and rules that can close the door after it has been open for a set period. It states plainly that the system is designed for unattended operation and the door could move unexpectedly.

The maintenance table is monthly for most items: contact reverse test, lubricating rollers and hinges, a Safe-T-Beam check, a door balance check and a battery backup test, with the belt inspected yearly for slack. On springs, cables, brackets and pulleys the manual stops and tells you to contact a trained door system technician.
