The listing's included components field covers the opener itself, two three-button pre-programmed remotes, safety sensors, hardware, batteries, a wall control with light button and vacation lock, a wireless keyless keypad, and the installation instructions and owner's manual. Genie's own page publishes no kit list, so that comes from the listing.

Genie's page says the 140 volt DC motor can operate almost any residential garage door up to 7 feet high out of the box, or up to 8 feet with an extension kit sold separately. The manual restricts the opener to sectional or one-piece residential doors, and tells you not to use photocells from other manufacturers.

A 140 volt DC motor, nine inches per second, and what HPc means

Genie's page rates the motor at three-quarter HPc and calls it a Power Plus 140 volt DC unit, with a maximum opening speed of 9.0 inches per second. A footnote on the same page puts a tolerance of plus or minus 0.5 inches per second on that figure, so treat nine as the headline rather than a guarantee.

Genie defines the rating unit itself: horsepower comparable, or HPc, designates that the opener meets Genie's lifting force specification for the amount of horsepower mentioned. The listing title writes the same figure as three-quarter plus HPc, which is Genie's number with a plus sign added.

Genie also names Auto Seek Dual Frequency, which it says automatically seeks either the 315 or 390 MHz frequency produced by a remote, and GenieSense, which it describes as continuously monitoring door operation and stopping it when significant changes occur. The page says the opener pairs with up to 28 wireless devices.

What the installation poster says to check before you buy

The poster supplied with this listing opens with a pre-installation checklist, and it is worth reading before ordering rather than after. It says the kit includes parts for most garages and most doors, and that a few extra parts may be needed for yours.

The specific items it flags are these. Doors taller than 7 feet and up to 8 feet need a rail extension kit. The header above the door may need a length of 2 by 6 lumber spanning the studs if it does not extend far enough above the springs. A finished ceiling may need a piece of angle iron spanning the trusses. The Safe-T-Beam sensors may need extension brackets or wooden blocks to see past door hardware.

It also asks whether there is an electrical outlet within roughly 3 feet of where the opener will sit, and says to contact a licensed electrician if there is not. It sets a door balance requirement before installation as well, and sends a door that fails it to a trained professional rather than to the owner.

Motion lighting, bulb limits and the speed setting

Genie's page lists motion detection lighting and a two-bulb lighting system, and says Genie LED bulbs are recommended with a 100 watt maximum if incandescent bulbs are used. The listing description adds that the bulbs are not included and that the powerhead puts the light toward the back of the garage.

The manual repeats the ceiling on bulbs. It calls for A19 bulbs at 100 watts maximum in incandescent, CFL or LED equivalent, says not to use bulbs with a short neck, and warns that standard LED bulbs may reduce the range of your remote controls. The remote takes a CR2032 coin cell.

The speed is adjustable, which is not obvious from the listing. The manual says DC model speed settings are pre-programmed at the factory for maximum speed and should not need adjustment, but can be set slower in both the open and close directions to reduce wear on heavier sectional doors. It notes that speed is affected by door weight, balance and the condition of door components and tracks.

The warranty row, and a clause about parts

The listing's manufacturer warranty description reads limited lifetime motor and gearbox, fifteen years belt, five years parts and one year accessories. Genie's own warranty document, numbered 42122.01951 and dated 11/2023, sets the same model out in a table and the two agree.

The row covering 4142, 4042 and 4043 reads limited lifetime on the motor and gearbox, five years on core parts, one year on accessories and other parts, fifteen years on the belt, and one year on the battery backup where one is fitted. Genie defines limited lifetime as lasting as long as the original purchaser owns the residence where the opener was first installed, and the core unit as the powerhead, the wall control, the Safe-T-Beam system, the J-arm and the rail.

This version of the document carries an extra clause against non-Genie parts. It says Genie explicitly prohibits the use of unauthorised or unbranded parts and accessories, that using unauthorised safety sensors threatens the opener's internal safety features and its UL325 certifications regarding entrapment, and that the warranty does not apply to unauthorised parts, improper installation or alteration.

The monthly list, and where the manual stops

Genie's maintenance table is mostly monthly: the contact reverse test, lubricating rollers and hinges with a light weight general purpose grease, a Safe-T-Beam check for loose connections and dirty lenses, a door balance check and a battery backup test where one is fitted. Remote batteries and bulbs are changed as needed.

One line in that table does not apply to this opener. Because the document covers belt, chain and screw drive models, it carries a yearly screw drive lubrication item using Genie Lube, which is irrelevant on a belt drive machine. Read the table with that in mind.

On the door itself the manual stops and hands over. It warns that springs, cables, brackets and pulleys are under extreme pressure and tension, says not to repair or adjust them, and tells you to contact a trained door system technician if the door fails the balance check it describes.
