Read the description first: there is no rail in this box

The listing's entire product description is three words, no rail included, and that is the most important thing on the page. LiftMaster's own product guide explains why: this opener ships in two cartons, and they are listed separately.

Carton one holds the garage door opener head, the 882LMW multi-function control panel, the 893LM three-button remote control and the Protector System safety reversing sensors, and LiftMaster gives its weight as 19.4 pounds. Carton two holds the assembled solid-steel belt T-rail on its own, at 17 pounds.

So a listing that says no rail included is offering carton one. Without the rail the opener cannot move a door, and the rail is not a generic part, so confirm with the seller exactly which cartons ship and treat the rail as a separate purchase. Query one more field at the same time: the listing's item model number reads 85870, while its own title and every LiftMaster document read here use 84505R.

Which rail fits which door

LiftMaster publishes three rails for this opener and ties each to a maximum door opening. The 7 foot rail is part 2777BD, with an installed length of 127 inches and a maximum opening of 7 feet 6 inches. The 8 foot rail is 2778BD, installed length 139 inches, maximum opening 8 feet 6 inches.

The 10 foot rail is part 2770BD, with an installed length of 163 inches and a maximum opening of 10 feet 6 inches. Measure your door height first, then pick the rail, because the installed length is what has to fit along your ceiling.

Two more numbers decide the fit. LiftMaster says the headroom clearance required is 2 inches, and gives the opener head as 10.5 inches long, 12.72 inches wide and 8.185 inches high, with a note that the width becomes 30 inches when both decorative doors are open. Mounting is side to side.

The specification block, in plain numbers

The motor is a 12 volt DC unit rated at 53 revolutions per minute with automatic thermal protection. LiftMaster gives the travel speed as 7.2 inches per second upward and 7.2 inches per second downward, so the product guide publishes the same figure in both directions.

Power is 120 volts AC at 60 hertz with a 6 amp current rating, UL listed, on a 4 foot three-prong power cord. That cord length is worth checking against where the outlet actually sits, because LiftMaster publishes no extension arrangement in the guide we read.

The mechanics are a steel chassis with a T-rail and trolley, a full reinforced belt drive with 63 to 1 gear reduction and an adjustable door arm, auto-force adjustment for changing weather and environmental conditions, electronic limits, and a DC Wi-Fi logic board with a built-in surge suppressor. LiftMaster names the replacement logic board part on the same sheet.

The camera is free to watch and paid to keep

The built-in camera is what separates this model from a plain belt drive. The listing describes a 1080p glare-resistant lens with night vision and two-way audio between the garage and your smartphone, and LiftMaster's product guide gives the lens as a built-in 130 degree wide angle.

The split to understand is what is included and what is not. LiftMaster says you can view live streaming video from the garage for free, and that a myQ Video Storage Subscription is what lets you record and save videos for up to 7 or 30 days, along with downloading and sharing clips.

The subscription also carries features that sound built in: people detection, rich notifications and access alerts. If those matter to you, plan on an ongoing subscription rather than a one-off purchase, and check what the free live streaming alone covers.

Lighting, warranty and the parts that carry a short term

The lighting is an integrated dual LED system rather than screw-in bulbs, which LiftMaster rates at 1,500 lumens. Neither LiftMaster document read here states a service life for that assembly or names a replacement part for it, so ask a dealer before assuming the light is serviceable.

That is where the warranty split matters. LiftMaster's product guide gives lifetime cover on the motor and the belt, then one year on parts, the camera, accessories and the LED. The camera and the light, the two features that define this model, are the ones with the shortest term.

LiftMaster's page also carries a California Proposition 65 warning. Neither the product page nor the product guide states a maximum door weight or a maximum door width, so match your door to the rail table and ask a LiftMaster dealer about anything heavy or unusual.

Remotes, radio range and who installs it

The 893LM three-button remote operates up to three openers or myQ light accessories and uses Security+ 2.0. The listing describes that as a secure code with every click. The 882LMW multi-function control panel programs remotes, carries a maintenance alert system and handles the Wi-Fi setup.

LiftMaster publishes the radio numbers too. Operating range is around 200 feet, operating temperature runs from minus 40 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, and the myQ radio uses 902 to 928 MHz across 50 channels of frequency hopping spread spectrum for two-way communication with myQ accessories.

Two practical notes close it out. HomeLink compatibility is version 4.0 or higher and may require an external adapter depending on the model and year of the vehicle. And LiftMaster's own product guide heads this product for purchase and professional install, so treat a dealer fitting as the expected route rather than a weekend job.
