Samsonite Framelock Max Carry-On Spinner (149618-5423, Glacial Silver)

A zipper-less frame case with one slide to lock it

Framelock Max closes with a frame instead of a zipper. Samsonite describes a zipper-less frame construction with multi-point locking engagement, controlled by one centralised slide puller that it calls the Eazylock mechanism, with keyless TSA-approved security.

Samsonite lists no expansion for this case, and its specification table has no expandable entry. The listing does not claim expansion either. Plan your packing around the stated interior space rather than expecting extra room for the return trip.

The listing sells the Glacial Silver colour in the Carry-on Spinner size, with model and part number 149618-5423. Samsonite's Framelock Max Carry-On Spinner page uses the same 149618 item family and offers Emerald Teal, Asphalt Black and Glacial Silver.

Size: 21.5 inches tall, not a round 21

Samsonite's specification table gives external dimensions of 21.5 inches high, 15.4 inches long and 8.8 inches wide, with a linear dimension of 45.6 inches. The feature list on the same page and the listing bullet give 8.75 inches for the width. The listing title rounds the height down to 21 inches.

Samsonite lists the interior as 19.7 by 14.1 by 8.6 inches in the specification table, and 19.72 by 14.1 by 8.6 inches in the feature list. Amazon's table adds a storage volume of 39.7 litres, which Samsonite's page does not state.

Samsonite says carry-on size and weight allowances vary by airline. Check the 21.5 by 15.4 by 8.8 inch figure against the published limit for your carrier and fare; this guide does not claim the case fits any particular sizer, and the listing's airline-approved wording is the seller's claim.

Weight and material: the sources do not fully agree

Samsonite's page gives 7.32 pounds in its feature list and 7.2 pounds in its specification table. The listing bullet says 7.32 pounds and Amazon's table says 7.2 pounds. The gap is small, but if your airline caps cabin-bag weight, plan with the heavier 7.32-pound figure.

Samsonite describes a polycarbonate shell and lists polycarbonate as the material, and the listing bullet agrees. Amazon's details table, however, lists the material as polypropylene. We are reporting both; Samsonite's own page is consistent on polycarbonate.

Amazon's table also calls the case water resistant. Samsonite's page makes no water-resistance claim for Framelock Max, and its warranty excludes damage from water, so do not rely on the case to keep contents dry.

Inside: dividers and pockets, no stated laptop sleeve

Samsonite lists multiple zipper dividers with various pockets for packing organisation. The listing description names two interior zipper dividers made with Recyclex, and Amazon's table counts two sections and two pockets.

Samsonite says the interior lining is made with 100% recycled PET plastic. Neither source describes an exterior pocket or a laptop sleeve, so plan on reaching documents and devices by opening the frame.

Samsonite also states it offers repair services in about 70 countries. That matters for a case whose closure depends on a lock mechanism, if something needs attention outside the warranty's defect cover.

Handle and wheels

The RightHeight handle system offers multiple one-inch height adjustments and a TPR grip, according to Samsonite. Neither Samsonite nor the listing gives the minimum or maximum handle height, so check the handle in person if your height makes that important.

Samsonite lists 360-degree dual spinner wheels. Amazon's table counts eight wheels. Neither source gives a wheel size, and Samsonite's warranty page does not list wheels as a separately covered part.

Warranty: ten years for manufacturing defects

The Framelock Max page names a Limited 10 Year Global Warranty. Samsonite's warranty page says that covers manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for ten years from purchase, for the first purchaser or gift recipient, with Samsonite choosing whether to fix or replace the product.

It excludes misuse, neglect, accidents, abrasion, exposure to extreme temperatures, solvents, acids and water, normal wear and tear, and transport damage such as damage by airlines. Warranty repairs must be done at an approved Samsonite service centre, and improper repairs void the warranty.

For purchases in California on or after July 1, 2023, Samsonite says the warranty starts on the delivery date. Keep your order record and register the product on Samsonite's warranty page.
